Front page ads will have the best possible exposure. However, it will only make the forum look less appealing.

Why not add a banner in the Forum page under search field?
I think could be an ambitious banner to sell every month with an auction.

I would vote a "No" for this one. The forum already has a lot lot of ads, also if there is a banner on the top then it would be priced high and so you'd also need to change the format of the auction(the admins are really too lazy to do so I think could be an ambitious banner to sell every month with an auction.

). The forum is also earning enough from the present ads, so I don't think we need more.
I believe the idea is to keep ads minimal since ads can be invasive. Adding ads there would probably irritate a lot of people, but it most likely would get people's attention.
I'd say the forum has enough ads...

It is a good suggestion but instead of below search field,I think a banner ad on search result page would be more better and also paid search results can be used to garner more revenue I think could be an ambitious banner to sell every month with an auction.
