cryptocurrency has high risk but also with high potential gains. Yes, I take your point but there are already other stock market investors making investment with cryptocurrency. I could not attest this because we do not have data on how many investors from stockmarket that are now investing in cryptocurrency. However the best way to deal with statistics is survey.

Try to search some survey OP so that we can find out too that how much cryptocurrency could grow if more of stock market investors will going to transfer in cryptoxurrency investments.

I'm wondering why the general population hasn't yet caught on and started investing in bitcoin. These days people seem to be willing to immediately invest into the stock market, but not into any cryptos, when it has such a large potential in the future. Why is this the case?

They think it's to technical for them and they are not yet educated on how Cryptocurrency works peole are used to centralized system that that somebody who is good in explaining in a layman language can explain to them how Cryptocurrency works and how they are going to benefit from it, their families and their community as well.

If you are as an investor your goal is to make a profit and keep safe all of your funds if you want to earn more money you need to keep it safe. Investment is full of risk it depends on all of your decisions how does it work...

There are a lot of factors why people don't want to make an investment in bitcoin.

For example :
The news they got related to the bitcoin scam.
Afraid to release a large amount of money.
Does not have time to risk because it requires a lot of knowledge and skills.

Everyone has thier own opinions and likes, maybe there are some things why they cant invest to bitcoin,
1.bitcoin is a fraud
2. Local tv and banks dont like bitcoin
3. Bitcoin is use to scam people. But not  literally bitcoin is a scam.

These are other factors why people don't want to make an investment too.

Also if the government will support this kind of coin there is a chance that many people and investors will trust this kind of coin.

Maybe Because Bitcoin is new or still young for investment . Beside that , common people is not enough understand about bitcoin.
So , They choose to invest in the stock market.  Whereas Bitcoin can give high ROI.

I think the bitcoin is not young anymore it's already started on the year of 2010 we already law a lot of market movement which is a thing we could be used to make the right investment and when we must need to put a large amount.

You need to look at it from the point of view of an average person. First, they have heard in the past that Bitcoin is a bubble, a ponzi, a tulip bulb, and other unpleasant things. They also know that it's prone to rising fast and falling past. They also know that it isn't used very much in real world, cause otherwise they would encounter it. So, why invest in something so fundamentally risky,  if you have stocks that at least can be approached from some rational point of view by looking at the company.

They still think that Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency is in the trial stage and they want to prefer to invest in proven investment schemes just like stocks mutual funds and traditional investment, many people want to play it safe, but they will soon found out how great investment in Cryptocurrency is but they will soon realize they should have invested earlier.

We cannot really expect a lot of people to invest in bitcoin, because of a lot of reason, its either they just don't know what is bitcoin or investment, it could be bitcoin is risky for an investment and you can always expect a profit. Also, there are still a lot of ways that you could do in order to make a profit not just investment in bitcoin, doing business could be more reliable than putting your funds or investing it in bitcoin.

Maybe as bitcoin adaptation continues around the world we could see a lot more people investing in cryptocurrency and bitcoin, for me a lot of people just didn't know how it works so they are afraid of trying it since the online or digital currency is more like a scam to them.

Its hard for them to leave what they been doing for years, as we all know , at the same time i talk to someone before why he is not interested in investing, he told me that , he is generating money already, why would i bet on something that i'm not familliar with, thats what he said.
maybe crypto needs to move closer to the community, like partnering with stores, and other businesses around the world, at the moment only few countries use crypto,

Some of them are still in doubt about bitcoin since this is not officially endorsed by any centralized government well for some countries.

Also some people still not familiar with its use case and purpose but just heard that ita a good investment. I can say that even at this stage we are still an early adopter of bitcoin. Some investors are also looking on some profitable projects in the altcoin so investors that can focus on bitcoin has been scattered.

Because it is still too volatile. Take a look at the last 24 hours. Bitcoin is down 2.5%. Now imagine a big investor bought million dollars worth of Bitcoin just before it started depreciating in value. He just lost part of his investment in one day. Sure, the price might go up by 5% tomorrow, but it can also go down another 5-10%. Both scenarios are equally possible. It is the uncertainty that causes the fear.

Yet currently 95.5% of the whole time Bitcoin has existed, it's been profitable to buy. ( https://twitter.com/CalendarProfit/status/1298711847407718401 )
It baffles me that investors of all people are looking at short time frames rather then seeing the big picture, and at the same time everything can go down, even gold.

I'm seeing a few recurring reasons as to why people don't invest in bitcoin, which makes sense when you look at it from an outside perspective. I believe that the combination of trust issues/perceived unreliability of bitcoin is what deters people from investing. If more people looked into cryptocurrencies and the reasons as to why they were created, more people would be inclined to invest.

Will a world where everyone switches over to crypto happen any time soon? Probably not. Is it possible that sometime in the near future everyone will own a share of crypto similarly to how everyone is currently invested in the stock market? Hopefully.

Because peoples have noticed the benefit of cryptoccurrency, and people refer to invest in cryptoccurrency now than physical investment because crypto investment is more secured than Manuel business.
Cryptoccurrency is decentralized know one is regulating it.
That is the reason people are rushing into it.

It's because of the scam accusations and also many people are afraid that they might lose their money because of the up and down of the bitcoin price compare to the stock market which is more stable than bitcoin. Also, people should be taught the exact information rather than the misconcept, incorrect information about cryptocurrency.

Stock market is more stable and lesser loss could take than cryptocurrency which is high in returns but risky too compare to stock market.

However, investment had somehow change now because others are now investing in cryptocyrrency. They had already risk their sources to bitcoin and I think some are already gaining because of their experience in stock market they can have the advantage in bitcoin investment.

Whatever investment someone to make risk is always there so if I were to chose between cryptocurrency and stockmarket? I will chose cryptocurrency (bitcoin).

That's expected since stock market is on the mainstream long time ago already while bitcoin trading or let's say the cryptocurrency in general was only created several years from now. You should understand that crypto adoption is not vast at the moment but good thing we are slowly growing as time goes by Cheesy.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe that the word of bitcoin will spread all over the world soon. I hope everyone will hear about this promising technology and get benefited by it soon. Because honestly, crypto is easier to manage than stocks or other tradable commodities plus it is more affordable so I think everyone would love it

Who said that? Actually people prefer to invest in Bitcoin than investing in the stock market. That's the fact I found in many discussions currently. Even if some people still invest in the stock market, they may join in crypto investment as well, especially invest in Bitcoin. Crypto investment offers a bigger chance for higher profits, which makes people try to invest in Bitcoin or altcoins.

Some people still don't believe in crypto or in this context bitcoin. The big risks make investors reluctant to invest more in bitcoin. Very high price fluctuations will have an adverse impact, because some investors don't want to take on too much risk. Too much speculation and price play is being imposed on cryptocurrency. who has the money is the ruler and can move the market easily.

About the legality of bitcoin in several countries is also questionable. technology of the future is still not fully accepted by the world.

People usually reading bad news towards crypto, hacking sentiments, scamming activities, and etc...It lives in their mind and gives them an idea, not to investment crypto and just lose their money instantly by mistake. That is how news becomes a big factor in regards to crypto adoption.

Apparently, they are wrong about it but we can't easily change their mind until such time that gives them no option but to use it. Since we have a stock market, gold and so many investments surround us, it also gives them a way to move away from investing crypto. Ony a risk-takers can afford to invest crypto and are also willing to lose their money. Most of us don't have that guts that is why so many people are still not knowing Bitcoin.

Don't rush things, we will get to that stage because adoption is on going, eventually people will invest because bitcoin/crypto is going to be regulated and they'll put some trust and confidence on it.

These days people seem to be willing to immediately invest into the stock market, but not into any cryptos, when it has such a large potential in the future. Why is this the case?
Can't blame them, majority of people invest on recommended investment which are not so high in terms of risk, that's why they'll not gonna benefit if crypto's value will enjoy a significant rise because they can't take high risk investment. I'm sure, once crypto gets more institutional investors, they'll rush their way to crypto.

Not everyone has the same sentiments in bitcoin, and obviously, a lot of people still have not realized the real value and potential of bitcoin. There is good and bad news about bitcoin that still confuses a lot if it's worth it.

Before we really see people investing in bitcoin, they need to be educated first in order to understand it. It's the same with the stock market, it is widely known by a lot of people even if they have no investment. But before they make an investment, they need to study the market first.

Apparently, because Bitcoin has been in a lot of scam accusations in the past few years. Bitcoin has been in any kind of shady scheme such as Ponzi and more, that is why most people and media have negative thoughts regards upon its use. And I personally experience that though. Moreover, some government across the world doesn't give much support on it but instead, they tend to reprimand the usage if Bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies. Therefore, investors are having second thoughts because of the scammers who use it on their scheme.

Even bitcoin is becoming more popular and is now having an improvement to it's price. Who said people are not investing on BTC, everyday more people are entering into the crypto market but compared to the total number of population and bitcoins existence we are still lacking decades compared to stocks.

Millennial generation investors are investing more in cryptos and in the next few years, we can see a drastic growth in crypto's market cap value.

Of course, you are right that technical things prevent some sort of old or lazy people to get exposure and experience with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is for everyone who adopt it but let's wait more significant changes and adoption from younger generations.
What's even worse, I know quite a few of those (mostly online) that despite being tech savvy, having read bitcoin whitepaper and all that stuff, they still see it as just another scam.
Despite crypto being generally popular in Croatia and it can be easily bought and sold at many places, our biggest and by far most popular IT forum is full of exactly those kind of people, that are IT experts in their fields, yet they are heavily against bitcoin, and you would expect from them to understand things better than average Joe. I argued with them for years, but kinda gave up  and lowered my activity there when I moved to bitcointalk.

Because investors does not see that potential in crypto yet, they are playing safe, they invest in stocks as it's more regulated than the crypto market. If we are going to weigh crypto against stocks, investors will see crypto a more risky investment compared to stocks, some even see it a ponzi scheme or you are like gambling.

There are still many people who don't know things about cryptocurrency especially if they are living in a country that banned cryptocurrency. They don't know it so they are afraid to try it, well that is what we can feel whenever there is something related happens in real life.

There are also some people who trust stocks over cryptocurrency so they choose to invest in it because of thinking that their money is safer than investing in crypto.

There are also some people who think that bitcoin is not well secured because it is decentralized, most of the people only regard legal transactions allowed by the government. The government is no place in crypto so they tend to doubt investing in it.

Thinking also that they may lose their money in crypto, cryptocurrency is volatile which means that it changes its process rapidly. If they are not that so familiar with it then they may think that they can lose their money easily.

People are less inclined to invest in something they don't  understand, and for many bitcoin is way too technical and out of their comfort zone.
It also partially comes from the misleading strategies of governments. They try to spread and seed the word virtual (not real) for bitcoin. They said Bitcoin or cryptocurrency is kinda virtual currency. Locals read it and feel like they never have control on virtual things. After that, many of them avoid to use bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Governments don't like things or technologies that can destroy their power.

Of course, you are right that technical things prevent some sort of old or lazy people to get exposure and experience with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is for everyone who adopt it but let's wait more significant changes and adoption from younger generations.

When you add on that the fact that bitcoin investment is quite risky (at least in short term) and they keep hearing stories how bitcoin used to be 20k and now it's much lower, you get this.

What's interesting though is that to many people bitcoin is too expensive at this price but it will seem cheap to exactly same people when it reaches new ATH and then they will be willing to invest.

The few people I personally know that have invested in Bitcoin is due to them having a technological background, being therefore able to understand the "be your own bank" mantra, and all that it entails in terms of tenancy, safety, legality/taxation, price fluctuation and usage. Outside that technological scope, I can’t recall anyone personally.

There’s always the invest and/or usage duality to consider, which are not incompatible, but whereby the general balance seems clearly lenient towards the former. Wasn’t the latter the intent behind Bitcoin creation (rhetorical)?

Aside from what has been mentioned, this will probably change in the next decade(s) as long as bitcoin still exist. Centralized services will be more regulated so that would be a trade off. But there's always an option to either mix your coins or just buy from P2P markets. There will be new generation of investors who're familiar and can use tech comfortably.

In my experience most people doesn't want to invest in Bitcoin because they said it's scam and people using it as illegal activities. Too many exchange got hacked and scam wallet make people worried if they money will loss. Even I have gave some good suggestion to prevent it, they still didn't trust it.

Most of bitcoin holders are young-adult people (Generation X - Millennials - Generation Z) and tech-savvy person, probably the next generation many people will interested in Bitcoin.

They are not doing that basically because they don't share with your view that Bitcoin "has such a large potential in the future." So you have to convince them with that before they will finally take a look at Bitcoin as an investment option. But before anything else, they need to understand Bitcoin first. And even in this first step many will probably already say, "No, thanks."

1. While the majority have heard of bitcoin, only a small minority actually knows what it's for.

2. Bitcoin is a very very unique asset with it's own separate asset class hence people are going to be heavily skeptical.

3. Bitcoin has only been around for more than a decade, whereas the stock market has existed pretty much since who knows when; hence people are more confident in investing in stocks.

4. No matter what we say about the government's quantitative easing and such, stocks are still a far less riskier investment(though of course it will depend on what specific stocks you're investing in).

5. Bitcoin, not crypto.

It's because bitcoin is still fairly young market as compare to stocks. 10 years is not enough to really put it in front of social media, although bitcoin is slowly making it's marks on millennial, Young investors have flooded into bitcoin during the pandemic, while the older generation can't get enough of gold, a team of JPMorgan analysts said. And then there is the big risk involved, bitcoin is know for its volatility and most investors doesn't like an asset that moves so much, unlike traditional stock market.

1. Does not have a legalities
2. Afraid to lose their money

6. No answer..

Maybe one of this reason also happened in other people outside have a similar view. Most of them doesn't know what is bitcoin and crypto. Same like me when not interest in Bitcoin 9 years ago. The status quo is so because change is slow. People transition slowly from standard to standard because of various factors, whether it be biases, pressure, necessity or accessibility. For example, consider the fact that the market cap of Bitcoin is paltry when compared to that of the top 10 companies by market cap: Apple alone has 10 times BTC's market cap.

Now, although you might agree with the current BTC market cap valuation but most people who don't use the currency will look at it with much more skepticism. Therefore, they may consider the true market cap value to be much lower on behalf of manipulation, high expectations or otherwise. Investing in that, and seeing that there are possibilities of double-digit percent swings is difficult. Plus, everyone is telling you to play the conventional route, whereas Bitcoin looks like a black sheep.

Investors have different insights when it regards investment either stock or Bitcoin.

They know that Bitcoin is more volatile than stocks and those who are willing to take a high risk and have potential high profit, they will choose Bitcoin. Because there is a potential for sudden growth and on the opposite side of sudden loss.

I don't know why you are saying this without proof that Bitcoin investment hasn't yet on the mainstream. Bitcoin was now competing with the gold and the stock investment worldwide.

They trust more stock market because it's been existing for a long time. While bitcoin, it's still young and many have used it to scam people. The impression of those people who have read the news is that bitcoin was used for scamming or illegal activities.

The main context that they get is that bitcoin is the actual scam and money of illegal doers. They are not willing to learn more about it because they get that very first impression that they've read or heard from the news and won't get through facts and are fine to listen to negative news than what bitcoin really is and its true potential.
