Services, yes the words and discussion that we often see in the forum for now. It can be said that the benefits of being a trending topic and defeating other news that is actually much more important for bitcoin development. Can be interpreted our focus may be disrupted and many people even focus to get reward, especially for those who often seek grace and signcamp. A good initial goal is to improve the quality of this forum, with the enactment of this then everyone is entitled to an award when they make quality posts.

The question is that when this reward is abused and traded, it certainly violates the scheme to advance this forum. It could be a post that is not qualified can get reward points and users who really make a quality post is very likely will not get it. So there is a very difficult side to review, all back to the way we provide the best for this forum.

How are you all about this and if you become one of the objects that can contribute to the forum, but you get no get points? What would you do? As human beings, of course we want to get aprisiasi

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)

The reason is one: a big payment for the signature. With the increase of Merit, the rank also increases.
Undoubtedly the one reason why people are being crybabies about merit system.

Not all users are concerned about the problem of merits, as not every user is concerned about improving his rank on the forum. Change has shrunk in the bounty of bounty hunters and perhaps ultimately it will benefit the signature campaigns.
If you ask me I am also concerned since there the exposure from the merit sources on different boards is different and there needs to be a gradual increase in the number of merit sources. Applications for merit sources has been posted here and still not reviewed by theymos. I hope they get applied soon and we see a decrease in the number of crybaby/asslicking threads on merit in meta.

I am enjoying the merit system. As I earned zero free merit, I need lots of merits to rank up. It was a challenge to me.
So I decided to study about Bitcoin and post here. I am also improving my English writing skills along the way. I still make a lot of English mistakes, but I am improving.
I would really like a merit push up notification lol. I really like to see if my posts receives merits. Merit system became one of the reasons for me to make good posts.

First, I’d say that the OP´s title is obviously a deliberate oversighted generalization, since there are many users that don’t seem to give a dam about Merit (yet). There are tons of lower ranked users that post indiscriminately with total oblivion to Merit, it’s explicit goals (I figure there are implicit goals too) and what it is required for.

I would say that we have:
1)   Those that don’t know what Merit is: as stated above.
2)   Those that don’t give a rats ass about it: since they don’t aspire to rank high really, or simply don’t care about the whole scheme of things.
3)   The ones who do care about it but do not have the core competences to get more than a few merits at most.
4)   The ones that do care about it but, having enough skillsets, see it difficult to obtain.
5)   The ones that do care about it and set out for them regularly.
6)   The ones that do care about it, already have bags of them, and are good to go.
7)   The ones that do care about it, already have bags of them, and want more.

The ones that do care about Merit can do so due to multiple non-exclusive reasons:
a)   It is part of the ranking game and rank is a conceptual status and an aspiration.
b)   It is part of the ranking game and rank can bring some goodies in signature campaigns and perhaps lead to other opportunities too.
c)   It is a mechanism that at least tries to raise the stakes on posting content and bar low level posts.
d)   It is a challenge: where ranking up on it’s own due to activity could be done blindfolded, Merit is a cookie for the brain and personal ego. Merit is probably above rank in this case conceptually.
e)   It gives a sense of power over others.

We could probably add quite a few, but eventually the list will be a close one and we can all be clustered into groups with a common view on the matter. Views do evolve, so one shifts between groups over time. The weekly overall potential sMerit decrease could soon playout as a large player in viewpoint change.

Having set the above draft of cluster variables, I would say that I started in January 2018 as a clear  standalone “1”, soon move on to a “4b”, then on to a “5cd”, and currently reside at “4cd”.

Hello DdmrDdmr,

Your classification is interesting.
I think I am something about 5d/5b or 7b/7d in your list.
My posts and merits have already led to some good opportunities already (opportunities outside the forum), and I think more opportunities will come.

This forum is a great place to join a network of people who shares a common interest if you are not a shitposter/spammer. There are very knowledge and entrepreneur people here.

It's pain to do with best effort without any gain received, but in other side gain is always there. Pain to post common, will receive common. Pain to post superb, will receive superb thing also. In this case, superb is merit... Smiley

Dear CockCock.

Please read my post again, and learn to understand and post English.

The pain doesn't come from posting. the pain comes from established members having to read garbled crap from the bounty scroungers.

People are ‘chasing for Merit’ because anything below Legendary Member requires a certain amount of Merit to rank up. Ranking up offers the opportunity to earn more in Signature Campaigns & obviously just the status of gradually improving your account’s reputation.

See below -

In addition to Activity you now need Merit to achieve each rank. The required merit is detailed below:

Ironically, this post is considerably off topic and out of touch with the original post. Yes, of course, we all know that merit is required to achieve the higher ranks. The OP acknowledges that fact (and if you had read the original post you'd know that too!)

What the OP is pondering is what's driving people to want to rank up so fast? He concludes that its bounty and signature campaigns.

Do you have anything new to add to this discussion?

The quest for merit, is the new trend now.
In a way yes, but it is more indirect now. Finding out "merit abuses" and bringing them to attention is the new trend right now. By doing so, people are pleasing the community, getting merits but at the expense of their own time. Merit system is so damn working.

Happy to see the twitter member ranked up. I really admire your thread mate. You usually construct the posts with the complete statistical information right. Then I know you watch your thread carefully and they give better answer according to the doubt and suggestion you got.
This is really awesome thing to get the merits. This is not at all intentionally goes to grab the merits but you are getting it.
I see you are one of top member in the Full member who got more merits.

Good answers and good thread always bring the merits to him. That is universal truth for this forum. I agree with athanz.

Thanks mate, i hope you can do it well too. You are already hero member and i am still far away from that rank man. About my thread, i agree that i put some works and time in there, but nowadays, there are many people that is way better than me in all aspects. It is great to see that merits is doing the job, even though it is not for all people.

The quest for merit, is the new trend now.

Nawp, At first it's very trending and everybody wants to earn merit. They created post with different levels and put some extra ordinary informations and effort with it. Some of them use info graphic so we can say that their information is very unique, to receive merits.

But now, no one really cares because merit system is very unfair for some people. People use it for boosting accounts and selling it to those people who can afford it at high price. It's really really painful specially for me..

For some people it is unfair, and for some is fair. That is life son, you got to take it.

For OP. Some people chasing merit by doing shit things, or normal things, but some people chasing merit by doing a really good contribution. For the last one kind, i dont care if they chase merit for a good spot on signature campaign, at least they are making a contribution, and lately there are many people made good posts and thread and they deserve their merit/position.

The quest for merit, is the new trend now. Merit is kind of the bedrock of determining ones rank now on the forum. So everyone wants to move a step ahead of their present rank and this is the sole reason why everyone is on the hunt for merit.
Probably the sole reason for one's "Quest for Merit" is to gain more profit. If the rank of a forum member isn't a variable for larger stakes and a larger income, I don't really think that people would be doing this so-called quest. Also, having merits doesn't really determine ones value as per the rank. Although literally, you need merits to rank up. But sometimes, merits can be abused by people who doesn't really deserve ranking up their accounts.

This problem is more topical than ever. In our time, they are ready to do anything they like.
Recently noticed a topic from a single forum user, where he asks about what he will do when he receives 100 merit.
What he was not offered there only, and I do not understand, but what are people ready to really go for merit and is it worth it?

Let's figure out, for what you need Merit:
1. In terms of performing bounty campaigns, namely signature campaigns, Merits, namely, rank, gives a greater number of shares obtained.
By the way, 1 person with a rank Legendart, receives as 7 people with a rank Jr.Member.
And you can think, is it worth it? Here, opinions diverge, so let's move on to the next reason.
2. The ability to establish itself in relation to other people.
Agree, it's nice to walk with an avatar on half the page, and also with 3-digit number under the name. But why?
You continue to communicate exactly with the others, do not you?
It turns out not so, in most cases (I can not say that in all, since I saw people with a lot of Merit who communicate on an equal footing with everyone), people who have already received a lot of Merit refer to beginners or just people with zero or a small amount.
3. And the third reason I did not find. Maybe I do not fully understand the whole point, maybe I'm wrong, but the very fact that you really do not want  Merit, if you just communicate with others at a forum, makes you think.

Summing up a certain result, I can say that at the moment, Merit is only needed for people performing bounties, namely signature campaigns, which depend on the amount of your Merit
Already foresee the appearance of such posts as:
"Well, you yourself made this post to get a Merit!"
"There have already been a million posts about this."
Perhaps you are right, but this is only your opinion, which you have the right to share.

It would be nice to find out what you need Merit, whether you earned it on purpose, or simply get involved in the forum. Good luck!
Everyone wants to move on and start another journey in our life/career that's why they're trying to rank rank to get out of previous life. As usual some want to rank up for bounties. I think that's the main reason for bounty hunters.

From my point of view, not all care of Merits (for example me  Smiley) and you are right, Merits are needed mainly for bounty hunters. Moreover I would like to stress that in many signature campaign Hero or Legendary Members receive in 20 times more then Jr. Members. Also I saw a post where one guys said that he likes beautiful pictures and text under his name (he needs Merits for "dressing").
But in general the main factor is greed and envy.

Actually, it's an old trend now.

Merit is kind of the bedrock of determining ones rank now on the forum. So everyone wants to move a step ahead of their present rank and this is the sole reason why everyone is on the hunt for merit.

It's funny how people are more keen to rank up now that there's a new requirement (merit) in the mix.

This problem is more topical than ever.

You enact the self fulfilling prophecy with this thread - "everyone chasing merit" is made even more true with people creating threads to talk about people chasing merit.
