It seems like such a weird place for an unlock button, I'm sure most people have made this mistake.

i do not have edit button so i cannot unlock it.

No. Again, as said above, look in the bottom left hand corner of the page and you should see a small link that says "unlock thread". Click that and it should unlock the thread. is it closed forever? i remember people locking and unlocking threads easily

Did you try unlock it at the bottom left or are you trying to unlock it by editing it?
I don't think the edit button will be there if the thread is locked... saw a locked thread of mine and there's no edit button.

what error message you get when you click unlock thread?
as far I know you can't edit OP if thread is locked so try unlocking thread first and then edit
