Buying altcoins doesn't mean you just store it on the wallet and come back a few months or a year, you should be responsible on following the updates of that coin so you won't be left behind if there some important things to secure your coin.

I could remember investing into creamcoin in 2017 and I have tried to access my account through that year and I could not access after the online wallets was having problem. I think it is too risky to invest into icos but for others coins like bitcoin and ethereum including think there are safe to invest in.

Are you expecting for the quick profits? In 201, you may get it. But if you really believe in cryptocurrency, you must know that the crypto is very fluctuating and full of risks and surprises. Personally I have no hatred for cryptocurrencies, and I prefer to follow the development and all the news, each of my coins / projects, so that there are no similar problems like yours, especially if you have a large number of coins. Therefore, I believe that the safety of our coins depends on us.
It seems to me that the topic itself is comparable to the absurd. If a person hated cryptocurrency, then he would not be on this forum. Most likely, the person did something stupid and took loans to invest in cryptocurrency, but in the end he lost everything. This is where the source of many hate cryptocurrency can be. No I didn't

There is always risk. If you've participated in some bad projects it doesn't mean that every project is so bad too. There are many cases that people earn a lot of money by investing in different projects. Therefore, you just need to choose good projects and conduct analysis.

I can clarify that I have got access to my IOTA wallet. IOTA not scammy and great because they take care and respect their investors. 
Amazing though that so many people here are willing to accept a "go fuck yourself" attitude when investing. Protecting wallets of dormant users should be a priority also. What if you went to jail for a year you lose all your money or your parents are cross and ground you from access to internet for a year? you lose all your money. Too easy.
I think I can get access to my EOS I haven't bothered to try yet cos I've only 500euro invested but should be ok, i will clarify in due course.
Shift however I think from a general look I won't be able to access my coins but I didn't invest much there cos I suspected they scummy.
Remember if you accept these standards now of losing wallets on a whim then continue that course and crypto will never be main stream.

That is good to hear. And you do bring up a good point, it should not be impossible to access your funds, should you step away for a reason. Like the BTC forks, all you need is your pk to access the new funds at any time. But most of the time when there is a time limit as was your case, the network is switching to a new network and this is generally communicated and planned from the ICO. If a project were to switch randomly and without notification, then I would call them scammy. They also wouldn't last long. A huge part of crypto is personal responsibility, as you already know.

I do not understand where you store, I see the coins that you buy are all big altcoin in the market. It cannot disappear like that, because users only need to use private key or json and pass to be able to access their wallet

Don't invest in crypto if you can't handle the risk, alt coin is a very risky investment, and don't expect too much in alt coin, most of the time the price movement in a very unpredictable way, for now a lot of coin had drop down and there is still no sign of recovery, my suggestion is to invest in top 5 coins, even if the price fall down there is still some chances to recover

You need to be able to access your crypto wallets or exchange via mobile.

if you lower your expectations and start looking at altcoins more realistically then you will be fine. 99% of the altcoins have 0 long term potential. i have been saying this for nearly 5 years now but people seldom listen and still "bag hold" and then complain about them. but all the altcoins can have awesome short term potential. so all you have to do is to only get involved with them during that short window of opportunity and then make your exit before the dark days of dumping begins.
right now, you have gained a valuable amount of experience. granted you gained it the hard way and paid for it big time but you gained something that is worth a lot: experience. and that can help you in the future to not only make what you lost back, but also make a lot more profit only if you learn from your past mistakes.

First job to do when you invest money somewhere is follow the updates , news on social media . I always follow all the projects i invest and never had a problem like you . I had 3 projects where i did need to do swap for new tokens as contract had a flaw . The ones who didn't swap lost it . Unfortunatly that sucks , but there is currently nothing we can do about it . Maybe if you speak with devs , they could help you

Altcoins are the best waves of investment in crypto currency, as long as you can make the right research and right information spot on.

I can understand your frustration. There are many coins or new project like to swap coins or change wallet all the time, sometime you miss the swap date, then all the coins will become worthless. I think I am not going to invest any money to coins which swap all the time, swap meant for me a scam.

I can understand your frustration. There are many coins or new project like to swap coins or change wallet all the time, sometime you miss the swap date, then all the coins will become worthless. I think I am not going to invest any money to coins which swap all the time, swap meant for me a scam.

There is no one to blame but yourself, why would you do investment then do not even bother to follow basic news, all the coins you mentioned is famous and well-known coins and you could have easily follow their news on any Crypto news related website without even bother to follow their channels or telegram etc. It is your fault man so just accept it.
I shouldn't have to keep changing wallets and keep going through complicated process just so my money isn't stolen from me. Crypto will never succeed with this BS.

Why would you invest money into very high risk avenues and stop paying attention to it? At that rate- why take it off exchange? Just leave your garbage on Binance if you don't actually care for the project/what you can do with it.
Usually I'd say that you shouldn't use any exchange for long-term storage but in this case it would have been a good idea... However I don't understand why you would invest into something you don't even care enough about to follow the progress/news/whatever from time to time.
And for projects that started as ERC20-Token and moved to their own blockchain it should have been quite obvious that there will be some kind of swap.

Well aren't we all smart Imagine a world where I would have to keep looking at my bank in case they decide to close my account and if I didn't press a button to transfer my money to another made up account that I would lose all my money without even a text or an email to notify me ITS FRAUD. THESE GUYS ARE BANKING ON PEOPLE BEING UNAWARE SO THAT THEY CAN KEEP THEIR MONEY!!! ILLEGAL THEFT AND ILLEGAL FRAUD

Most of them will go away soon anyway. Just stay with the most reliable one, bitcoin, and keep ignoring the shitcoins and you'll end up fine.

People place too much emphasis on alt coins in an effort to earn big
gains quickly. They see the likes of the longer established crypto as
"too expensive" and opt for cheap alts so they can hold vast amounts
in the hope they pump and release big wealth.
It has been posted before that bitcoin market share has been diluted
by too many scam alts when all this time Bitcoin has been the one
which we should be concentrating on.

Don't take it personally but looks like you lost your money because you were lazy & why you did not followed at list twitter handle of the project you invested with notification on or email subscription?? You could have gotten quick update about the current happening in the projects & time to act on time. From next time keep your altcoins in exchange if the coin is still under development & which have not launched its mainnet as exchange takes care of up-gradation now a days.

You do everything to the letter, download wallets, keep all passwords safe, you research exchanges so you don't get conned.
Then these FUCKWIT developers CONSTANTLY do snapshot and change wallets.
You go away for a couple of months and you come back to find out that you can't access any of your altcoins and that your hard earned money is just simply GONE!
I refer to IOTA, EOS, SHIFT. I owned sizeable amounts of each and now my money is just GONE.
