and you continue to explain away your luck drop from

104.83 % first 1431 blocks.

to

96.05 % last 1000 blocks.

show the cdf for the 104.83% luck for 1431 blocks

show the cdf for the 96.05% over 1000 blocks

show the cdf for that happening back to back

the odds then become less likely then luck.

The odds become more likely your code has lost is edge that created the 1431 Long hot streak.

besides. since you pool has properly sunken in size to the shrinkage in luck you now attack other pools.

And practice deep insults. so have fun pumping a dying pool.

To any miners reading I feel for you I once was loyal to kano not any more.

...
I simply say maybe just maybe kano has poor code.
...
Fun how you like to accuse people of things without any basis, but hide behind words to pretend you didn't Smiley

Then you are saying -ck is a poor coder - since he wrote the block detection code used on the front end on my pool.
The same code used in CKSolo, CKPool, and Laurentia Pool.
The only current difference is handling bitcoin v18 and v19 where core put a bug in it.

I do agree that he is a poor coder, having lost 3 blocks due to bad code and another due to negligence/not knowing how to run a server.

Fortunately for my pool, I test the code properly before using it and thus reduce the risk dramatically of losing blocks due to bad code.
He has a history of committing code to the public git that he has not ever test run at all.
Alas that happened on CKPool when he started it also where his coinbase code hadn't been tested, then when the pool found it's first block, that untested code screwed up and they lost the block.

I also have secondary bit accuracy block detection code in KDB on my pool if the ckpool code screws up.
It does an exact check unlike the ckpool code that does an approximate test.
KDB also submits every block.

--

Edit:

I should also add, to refute your baseless accusations, information that you also already know but are pretending to forget:

When we had the very bad luck run of 5 blocks and the pool was mining 50% rental, I went to a lot of trouble to re-check everything.
I contacted the top miners and got them to go through their miner logs and miner management logs so we could check that all blocks in their logs were also on the pool.
I added all the extra share checking and correct block checking in KDB (unlike the approximate block checking in ckpool)
I then reran 3 months of data around the time of the bad luck, through KDB, and checked everything went through with the same results and the same blocks.
The result was the same blocks - no differences between the two.

FYI: this isn't possible on ckpool without KDB, since ckpool doesn't have any ability at all to rerun data.
If you get data corruptions in his text files (yeah the database storing hundreds of thousands of $ or rewards of data is a bunch of tiny text files, one per user), you can't recover them except from an out of date backup ... since those text files update, on average, every 3.333 seconds.

KDB, of course hasn't had such a poorly designed issue since the beginning.

I will also add that slush had a run of 5 blocks of bad luck worse than this, about a year later and they ignored it.
Fun how different the response to such issues is on different pools Smiley

--

And yet again you are pretending to not see the number in front of your face.

Last 1000 Blocks   200.3wks   104.11%   109.14%   0.9020   96.05%   103.89%

Firstly, the Average PPS% reward there is 103.89% - sounds good to me Smiley

Secondly there is a statistic there in front of you that you keep ignoring over and over?
Do you simply not understand what the CDF[Erl] is, even after I've pointed it out over and over again with each of these posts you make saying you don't understand statistics?

It says "0.9020" so approximately 1 in 10 chance of that happening.

In this case since it's 1000 blocks, then EVERY pool EXPECTS that to happen, on average, once every 10,000 blocks.
It doesn't mean it can't happen twice or 3 times in 10,000 blocks, and it doesn't mean it wont happen early or late in the 10,000 blocks, it's simply just a statistic showing the EXPECTED results over a large sample of data.

spacer.

I will unlock later.

I unlocked to quote this

Surely if you mined on a small PPLNS pool then you would care if a block was missed due to it having a massive impact on your earnings along with everyone else on the pool.

The bigger the pool the less likelyhood of it having an impact on you, especially if the pool is PPS.

But the danger is, it is all relative, if a big pool is losing blocks due to bad code or infrastructure, or you build a big pool based on bad code or infrastructure then it does become a big deal. Because a big pool will lose lots of blocks, or at least potentially a string of them before its noticed and something is done about it.

Fact is some big pools have lost lots of blocks due to either bad code or due to not being aware of what is going on down to the minutiae of information or not having the log files to check back, or just not caring. The history is there to see.

I can understand it not being a big concern on your part because of your mining strategy, although I would question why anyone would continue to mine on a solo pool that has demonstrably lost blocks on more than one occassion. The potential loss of earnings is just too high.

I simply say maybe just maybe kano has poor code.

It may have been good at one time.
As kano pool luck was good like for the first 1400+ blocks

Not good for the last 1000 + blocks.

Maybe. the entire reason for the extended down turn in his pool is a simple code error.

look at the numbers for blocks 1-1400. good

look at the numbers for block. 1400- 2430 not good.

the last 1000 blocks  luck is 96.05%
the grand total 2431 blocks luck is 101.22%

bear with me I am math challenged. kano has stated I am a stupid moron a criminal and a gambler/ I paraphrased.

but in order to have a 101.22% luck number for 2431 block  if 1000 blocks are at 96.05%.

we need to 2431-1000 = 1431

and lets see 1431 x ?  and 1000 x 96.05.   = 2431 x 101.22

so 246065.82 - 96050 = 150015.82

then

15015.82/ 1431 =

104.83 % luck first 1431 blocks

96.05% luck last 1000 blocks

that is a massive huge change over years of time.  So we can argue all day. but

1431 blocks. 104.83%
1000 blocks.  96.05%

I am sorry but those numbers are real and right from kano.is website.

No reason has be found if it has been found it would be working.

I know kano has ended rentals. result luck still sucks last 50 blocks are terrible
I know kano has banned after market firmware result luck still sucks last 50 blocks are terrible.

It does not matter that 50 blocks are a small amount of blocks.

What does matter is the luck is terrible and the 50 blocks are over a time period of 21 months.

My 1.7ph would have paid 5000 usd lower at kano pool if I stay there.  from nov 2018.

thread is not locked so comment.

Bad luck this post was made may 27th.

I would like to point out that lifetimes stats for luck on kano.is

are 101.17%   for 2429 blocks

but that for the last 1000 blocks

the luck is 96.02%

and for the last 500 blocks

the luck is 92.41 %

This last 500 blocks took 153.8 weeks

153.8 weeks is very close to 3 years ago.

May 27 2017 is  3 years ago.

June 15 or June June 16 2017 is 153.8 weeks ago

My point is once BTC became valuable or more valuable

Kano.is has had really bad luck.

Coinbase price on:

June 11 2017   about  3000
July  13  2017  about  2300
Aug  14  2017  about  4300
Sept 15  2017  about  3700
Oct   17 2017   about  5500

May 27   2020   about  9200

I could go on and since I am a stupid moron I will go on.

500/.92 = 543.47

so kano.is is off 43.47 blocks since his last 500 blocks made.

So As a stupid moron I ask why has kano.is had brutal luck over the last 500 blocks made by the pool.

Why did kano.is have great luck  when they made the first 1929 blocks

the luck was so good when blocks were worth very little
the luck is brutal when blocks became valuable.

Does it mean anything?  I don't know I am a stupid moron.

but 105% for 1929 blocks.   coins under 3000

and 92%  for 500 blocks.     coins over 3000

So  even if solo.ckpool sucks and lost 3 to 4 blocks out of 255 blocks

kano.is has had a 500 block 153.8 week unlucky streak.

But as i said I am a stupid moron.  Please correct my math if I made any errors.

Personally if possible I would mine in a:

kano.is solo pool
solo.ckpool

pps+ pool

this is the problem with kano.is an extended downturn since may of 2017

PPS is more and more what people want.

If it's good for the miner / pool operator has to be determined on an individual basis.

Personally, I have about $7.50 in dust left on Kano's pool since 2016. Due to PPLNS and the lack of luck, it's just a write off to me at the moment, never going to get paid and unless I put some crap miner on there when they happen to get lucky and find a block I'm never going to get paid. In terms of crypto mining losses it's a small one.

For smaller pools like Kano and Laurentia, PPS is looking to be the only way to gain more users. A small user might mine there knowing they will get paid what they mine (minus the fee) if they grow into a larger miner they might stay. But, very few larger miners are going to move to or start with a small PPLNS pool.

Same with Laurentia I am not going to mine here, I just changed out some equipment and barely have 1PH.

It's all older, outdated, inefficient gear. But since I have fixed power costs it works for me. Since I have fixed expenses PPS works best for me.

Having had many discussions with other people what I am doing seems to be a recurring theme.
