The Libra project is definitely a new milestone in the world of cryptocurrencies, today it is not even possible to imagine how the Libra will affect the payment system.
One thing is for sure - the launch of facebook coins will expand the sphere of influence of cryptocurrencies on almost the entire developed world.

Libra is already almost a dead coin, even taking into account the fact that it has not yet been released. Even if you do not take into account US regulators and the position of Congress, it is enough that the countries of the European Union intend to block the circulation of Libra in their territory. Without the European market, it will already be a defective stable coin. In addition, now national stable coins of various states will begin to appear in large numbers. Such a Libra will definitely lose against the stable coins of world states. Therefore, even if it appears, it will not be in great demand.

Winning has not been a success, I think they will win a successful profit in the community and exchanges because of the big companies Facebook that have a later impact on the investor. But for his success can survive in the middle of the crypto shock itself is not necessarily because it is very difficult for new projects to survive.

Libra still has to face American regulations because it is feared that libra will damage the financial order in America. Libra has a lot of support but it still needs official regulations to make libra public. Libra still has to fight again.

My little thought is that if libra only agrees to use USD as a global guarantor reserve, this will actually be useful, especially because the centralized system can continue to progressively make policies so that all supply and demand can be controlled, this will be the same as what the USDC does, if it works and continues to grow, the application of libra will actually be very difficult if implemented outside the United States, not inside.
yes i agree with your opinion. Libra must be implemented outside the United States if American regulations still do not provide positive value for libra.
if libra is forced to remain within the scope of America then libra will not develop and may not be in demand anymore.

It's nice to see libra on the news again. The last time I checked the coin was having some regulation issue which I believe was going to sniff life off the project. I wished the project survives the United States regulations, though am not positive about the project based on the challenges I've read.

I want to be optimistic about this libra blockchain project but i never seen mark as the CEO of facebook heralded this project to the public, he as if pretending this project won't have a serious treatment from the facebook company itself. And also many people are doubting this project. We hope they will make something new which can attract investors to invest
These triggers people doubted and think that libra couldn't be a trusted coin. Libra still in the question and regulatory board can't decide for it cause of lack of supporting documents need to secure. If these issues can't be solved, It probably we can't see Libra in the market nor to expect that this coin could help the crypto market journey.
I guess all that will be resolved soon. Libra has great potential with the support of a large platform that will support the growth of the Libra market. now it is indeed in a difficult situation, but the developer and team I think have planned a solution to be able to make libra in the crypto market.

Libra will win if they can enter in this market, yes they have a greater plan ahead but the regulations is too strict with them especially if you'll connect it to facebook. There are so many utility coins in the market, some coin can do what Libra can do but since Facebook is more popular they focused too much on Libra. Every cryptocurrency with a great purpose will win because Libra can't succeed if the market is dying so we have to support more coins and not just this one.

Libra become win coin if many because many investor have talk interested with Libra coin but when launching date is not know by any one else except Libra team still confused when their coin listed to public. I have bad thing maybe Libra become failed because most than last three months Libra still not launching to public because their reason not get permission from United State, available take care with permission needed three months?

So the Libra coin is still uncertain whether it will be a coin, there is a lot of news about the launch of Libra in 2020 but I don't think this will happen and Facebook owners are still developing more about Libra to be launched.
Maybe there are still many obstacles that must be resolved in his country so this decision may be uncertain.

Libra has one problem, it is centralized, so goverments can easily stop the process of developing before they launch it. That is the big problem.
You can´t stop something what is decentralized because how? Who you arrest?

People outside crypto like stock investors might not think twice in investing in it. People like me that had issues with Facebook's privacy will not. There would be plenty of merchants inside Facebook after its launch for sure, but are people really willing to drop a single coin to the platform? It will be a good tool, OP. You're right about that, but in terms of widespread reach I think I'll just stick to Bitcoin.

I was lucky, I found a person with a skill set and the ability to accept payment in the currency I had. Iota...

Soon millions of people with  the skill set I need will be able and willing to accept payment from me.

Libra may not be a game changer for you. But it is for me.

Everyone here has a different perspective and analysis of Libra coin, that is your analysis, I have seen an analysis that is completely different from your own, so we will have to see if it will generate support when it launches sometimes in 2020 if they ever push through.
Facebook owner said if there will be no a libra coin in the future caused by facebook has already made a new way to create a new payment system for all of products that owned by facebook.
I doubt if we will see libra in the future. It's more like we will see the next digital cash payment system will be made by facebook

I agree that what makes a coin good is the utility of it. Why do you think bitcoin is the most expensive coin (by means of market cap)? Because, it is widely accepted all around the world compared to all other coins. Even ethereum which is liked by millions of people is yet to reach the levels of bitcoin.

If one day Libra really comes out (I honestly think politicians of USA and everywhere else won't allow it to exist) they will have a super utility power and will be accepted in many places. Think about it, all you would have to do is open your facebook or whatsapp or instagram whatever account and send someone money right there in a second, that is a power you can't buy. So, I think if Libra happens it would be awesome in that regard but since it is ran by facebook there will be some bad parts too like no privacy of your accounts.

Could you tell me what is the purpose of using a cryptocurrency which is regulated, controlled, tracked and disobeys all the laws of blockchain? That's Libra. You can say you're replacing fiat and that would make Libra a digital currency like Paypal etc and not a crypto. The moment people realize this, they will simply get back to fiat and avoid technical complications worth nothing.

I don't like centralized company coins like Libra and I don't think it's going to win anything. Even if it gets approved by regulators it's not going to do anything good for Bitcoin and other cryptos.
To me Libra is all the things you don't want and those are centralization, vulnerability, connection with a company with a history of surveillance and leaks, KYC.

people will buy libra and use it because they have good backups, the reputation is already very well known and they also have a lot of funds, so even if when selling coins they don't reach softcaps (though it is impossible) they will still be able to fund their own projects.
and also has many partners who are ready to join.
there is no reason to reject libra. Smiley

It's too early for now tell that Libra will win when they haven't even launched yet and there are news that their investors, some of their team are backing out and they are delaying the launch, but once it is already launch for sure that it has a potential to adopt by people as they can see its potential as they already think that it is a legit one.

Libra Coin will Win
Think of the crypto instead of the paper money. The government has the money as a USD, but still, everyone prints their own money in their house, Facebook Telegram accepts their own money, not the USD. It does not sound right, does it? So do not be so believer.

Unlike you, I pay attention to decentralization, for me, it as the most valuable thing that crypto has earned us. It is possible to create a lot of things that can be used as payment, but as decentralized a few.

You forgot one very important thing... The Government likes to stay in control and one way to do that is to control money, but when this power is handed over to an individual or organisation that they don't control, them they start losing their power, imagine always having to ask for permission before they can review the financials of an individual... This is why I think that the Libra Cryptocurrencies might never be actualised, it would have been very popular and would have been used worldwide but the roadblocks it has to scale before it is launched are many and large.

All in all, regarding Libra Coin, we still gonna have to wait for no one knows until when the Coin allowed to launch.
Since like everyone of you already know of the fact that facebook won't launch its cryptocurrency until US Regulators approve of it. But I'm amazed about how hard facebook especially Mark tries his best to improve libra coin as to get the persimission from regulators and all.

I mean like, libra is one of the most anticipated cryptocurrency to be launched. And what OP have said has a point that cannot be ignored.
Eventually we will look for a coin that has a real use case and useful in many ways. But still, we won't gonna see it the near future it seems. Not until they solved the problems with regulation and everything.

Very principled personal opinion. If indeed Libra can be free from existing problems today, I am sure that Libra will be very loved as a means of payment today. Although we can only make payments with other coins now. What is clear is that we just look at further developments and do not also close the possibility for other coins as utilities.

My question to you is: Will regulators actually allow Libra to establish themselves, let alone succeed?

I think that if you have any sort of sense the answer to that question is no. The federal reserve has already shown that they are quite unwilling to let go of the control that they have over monetary policy to a private industry, especially one the size of Facebook.

It's not that Libra can't succeed, but it's just very difficult to do so.

Facebook is willing to negotiate and as far as I know they have now revise the whitepaper for the regulators to review again. There ain't no giving up there for Facebook and until they can lobby more lawmakers to side with them, Libra may just be making it to help the adoption. I wouldn't be using Libra if there is no need for me to. But this will open the eyes of the many people who are not even aware of BTC and other cryptocurrencies.

Op has a point, but there is more to this for Libra to survive this regulatory obstacles. Somehow I read somewhere that; the Libra coin will be control in it totality by IMF which will make its not be able to utilize it potentials. These are many more challenges that the said coin will pass through before it will be accepted globally.

the victory of Libra Coin is to have a Facebook user community that has spread throughout the country, even Facebook is the largest social media in the world. With an interesting product service, I think it will be easier for Facebook to promote its products until they are delivered to consumers
Right, and it can be seen from the development of Facebook in the last two years, now on Facebook there have begun to be many additional menus that are very useful for users, and that is very extraordinary, and if their coins are really there for cryptocurrency, then facebook's progress will also...

All we know that libra or facebook is very popular so many problem and issue are going to come so I really don't know if libra can handle this kind of problem loke what bitcoin already done. Libra still has to face American regulations because it is feared that libra will damage the financial order in America. Libra has a lot of support but it still needs official regulations to make libra public. Libra still has to fight again.
I think this will be long, considering the American government still hasn't accepted Libra for their reasons. call it libra made with the same exchange rate as the dollar, as an online payment. it would indeed be a little bad for America because it could be that the dollar is no longer used if libra is really launched to the public and in fact it is.

Are you sure about that? Facebook is famous and known to be a big time in social media but crypto space is different than social. If you talk about utilities and will pay someone for his services, then there are many people willing to accept with any coin, even they also accept paypal. But here discuss about a currency that can be owned without identity, self-controlled or not centralized. All these things are already owned by Bitcoin, don't you know and turn a blind eye to the use of Bitcoin from real use? .

Yes you have many good points. I don't even think Libra will make in onto coinmarketcap now as it may not be accepted as a genuine coin by them.

You are correct. I'm thinking  thousands versus Millions here. Its no more than a prediction. But I got my first bitcoin in 2011 and sold all them in 2017. Call it luck or intuition. I just have this belief in Libra that it will work for me..

I don't have a Facebook account. But I'm going to get one because of Libra.
You should really think about it.
Your information will be leaked here.
If I could just go back in time, I would never ever create a Facebook account, it will succumb you.

I see a business opportunity with Libra and that's that. Some business opportunity bear fruit some don't. You could say that's my own business which I'm not going to discuss here.
I am seeing an online merchant here. There are still different ways to do the transaction option.

OK.. Why will Libra be a game changer.

Because over night millions of people who have no understanding of coins are suddenly going to. And developers are going swarm to Libra..

AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO ACTUALLY USE LIBRA.
I see where you are going here. But are you really going to abuse the people who have no understanding with it? That is how I understand it.
Man! That is evil.

I think it's too early to say that libra will be a winning or successful coin. because currently libra has not yet been released and is still experiencing problems regarding regulation and licensing. Until now, members of Congress and the United States Government have not given permission to Libra. Even though Libra was issued by a large Facebook company that has billions of users, I don't think it can guarantee that the Libra coins will succeed in the crypto market.

Let me ask you this, do you actually use a coin? Do you ask for a service and pay for that service or product with any coins. I would bet you don't. Some may. And good on them. But the vast majority here ( bitcointalk ) don't. ( I maybe wrong)

But people are going to use Libra. Its not investment. Its a tool. A stable tool.

~~~
I use cryptocurrency only for trading. I have never used cryptocurrency for payment of goods or services. As you said, most do not really care about its utility as a means of payment, it's because everyone has their own views and goals in maximizing the potential of cryptocurrency for themselves. For me, cryptocurrency is more effective as a tool for investment and trading commodities. That is clearly different from those of you who want more adoption for a payment Smiley This is not a problem, as long as we can take advantage of this great opportunity to get a comfortable life.
Yes, and I strongly agree with your view of the stable function of Libra for payment. This is effective, of course, because a constant price will not give too much distance in the midst of cryptocurrency volatility. This will be very effective, especially since Facebook has a very large community, more and more people will get to know cryptocurrency if Libra is really implemented.
The problem with libra is that they want it to be regulated and the government is against it and it's easy to stop because they can attack the company behind it that has real people and assets associated with it.
Bitcoin is not that easy to stop because it never asked to be regulated and there's no people you can sue behind it. If the government allows libbra to exist it will. It's vulnerable.
FYI,Mark Zuckerberg has regulatory issues on launching their project such as governments like USA and France has against that project maybe this will happen with the remaining governments as well so the launch will take too much time from now until that why not try any other untility coins which is something not controlled by anyone?
Why you are so much interested on Facebook's lira project when you don't even have an account there? Roll Eyes
In my opinion, @OP looks more at the opportunity side, as we know that Mark Zuckerberg has appeal in every platform he has developed and so far his platform has been a huge success. I'm sure @OP also thinks of opportunities like Mark Zuckerberg did, although Libra is still faced with regulatory issues, but I'm sure when Libra is able to overcome it all, soon this coin will develop rapidly.
Any business could bring income to the governments that is why they allowing anything from ig companies but when something could affect their soverign currencies then the oppse will stay here until Mark could become their president. Wink
Thinking is very good, especially based on the fact that it supports. Indeed I see for the development of Libra the coin continues to progress. And I think it is the underlying you think so. So it will be very good by giving positive pecan. To be a winner should Libra coin continue to improve its development and increase its ability to compete with other coins that are still above Libra coin. So keep the spirit and expand all its abilities.
Moreover libra project will be a stable coin project so I don't think it will really make attention among the investors who are existing now,but if Libra comes more institutional investors will start to arrive crypto space.
Until now Libra is still fighting to get the permission of the US government. However, it will be very difficult because of the US government's concerns about the dangers of cryptocurrencies.
Maybe libra will get permission in the future and they will operate before the strict rules of US law. I think libra is very difficult to be released at this time.
Facebook is a large and reputable social network, with the support from Facebook I think libra will gain the attention and confidence of the majority of investors.
However, Libra is currently facing regulations against cryptocurrencies of governments around the world. The US government dislikes libra because it is concerned about the risk it poses to the financial sector. Perhaps we will have to wait a long time before libra is released.
Given the current general situation, I think we will not need to wait too long. In my mind, Libra will be launched in 2021 or earlier because China is ahead of the United States in crypto. Libra will be accepted and compete with Chinese cryptocurrency in the future. It was just my personal prediction, but the reality is that things could turn out differently
I think China is not ahead of the United States in cryptocurrency. As far as I know, the Chinese government is still fighting cryptocurrencies because of concerns about tax evasion and asset flows abroad. China claims that support for Blockchian does not support cryptocurrencies
Recently, the central bank of China has issued a number of regulations to tighten investment funds for cryptocurrencies.
Libra will need a lot of effort to launch the market, let's keep an eye on.
Definitely Libra is going to revolutionize the market in shape of adoption of overall crypto market especially if it gets the clearance and total backing of the US government because it is the only hurdle they have untill now but recent events suggest that this will be cleared as well which will be massive for the market.
Good luck with this game changer that by the way HAS NOT changed the game yet. Why because it doesn't even exist for you.
I don't see why you can't see the exact same things for Bitcoin. You need to sign up for FB to use Libra, same thing you need to only sign up a client to use Bitcoin.
Tell me if you can use Libra in countries where there's no Facebook, by the way.
FYI,Mark Zuckerberg has regulatory issues on launching their project such as governments like USA and France has against that project maybe this will happen with the remaining governments as well so the launch will take too much time from now until that why not try any other untility coins which is something not controlled by anyone?
Why you are so much interested on Facebook's lira project when you don't even have an account there? Roll Eyes
In my opinion, @OP looks more at the opportunity side, as we know that Mark Zuckerberg has appeal in every platform he has developed and so far his platform has been a huge success. I'm sure @OP also thinks of opportunities like Mark Zuckerberg did, although Libra is still faced with regulatory issues, but I'm sure when Libra is able to overcome it all, soon this coin will develop rapidly.
Any business could bring income to the governments that is why they allowing anything from ig companies but when something could affect their soverign currencies then the oppse will stay here until Mark could become their president. Wink
Thinking is very good, especially based on the fact that it supports. Indeed I see for the development of Libra the coin continues to progress. And I think it is the underlying you think so. So it will be very good by giving positive pecan. To be a winner should Libra coin continue to improve its development and increase its ability to compete with other coins that are still above Libra coin. So keep the spirit and expand all its abilities.
"Win"? It hasn't even launched and probably doesn't even get to do that. Not until the government gets it to comply on making it their own Orwellian tool of control and surveillance.
And they can and will control it as it's not permissionless in any way.
Well I'm a little bit shocked that there's actually someone who doesn't have facebook... I mean, I bet you know a lot about technology yet you don't have facebook. Because even non-techy and older people are trying to fit in the mainstream that's why they also have Facebook. But I'm not against you having no Facebook. I'm just saying my first impression... But with regards to your view about Libra, I respect that. It's your own perspective and opinion about Libra so I wouldn't stop nor go against you. But personally, I'm not against Libra but I just don't feel the hype about Libra. Maybe I might also end up using it in the future but it still depends on the situation.
I don't think there is a need for Libra as well for Facebook. Though we can be updated in Facebook but most often we can only see fake news or some dissaponting news too. I prefer to socialised personally as much as possible. I only use Messenger than Facebook and I think Libra is a no need for cryptocurrency market too.
Last days I got source link website give information about Libra coin have hot permission from United State government to allowed Libra become legal investment coin, I don't know is true information or not because until today look not update information about Libra coin, maybe some one want to give effect for bitcoin become higher price because by allowing Libra as legal investment and assets transaction bitcoin will grow up.
Hi
Firstly I would like to say I don't care about one coin from another. All I want is utility. I want to be able to pay someone for services rendered.
THAT'S ALL I CARE ABOUT.. I have no loyalty to any coin.
I don't have a Facebook account. But I'm going to get one because of Libra.
I see a business opportunity with Libra and that's that. Some business opportunity bear fruit some don't. You could say that's my own business which I'm not going to discuss here.
OK.. Why will Libra be a game changer.
Because over night millions of people who have no understanding of coins are suddenly going to. And developers are going swarm to Libra..
AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO ACTUALLY USE LIBRA.
Let me ask you this, do you actually use a coin? Do you ask for a service and pay for that service or product with any coins. I would bet you don't. Some may. And good on them. But the vast majority here ( bitcointalk ) don't. ( I maybe wrong)
But people are going to use Libra. Its not investment. Its a tool. A stable tool.
That other day I used Iota as a tool. And it worked for me. I asked for a service and received a service. And I payed for that service in Iota.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53286995
I was lucky, I found a person with a skill set and the ability to accept payment in the currency I had. Iota...
Soon millions of people with  the skill set I need will be able and willing to accept payment from me.
Libra may not be a game changer for you. But it is for me.
Libra is set to revolutionize the adoption of cryptocurrency. I think this is one of the most riskiest but straight forward approach by a social media corporation to jump head first into a new financial tech innovation. To dive right into a sea made up of heavily grey areas of law, but risk being the first to navigate such a frontier and possibly come out on top! Facebook is poised to be the 1st of it's kind to try and capture the new crypto market by the balls. If Facebook could pull it all off with Libra, the world would be educated in and utilizing cryptocurrency.
  As of right now, I couldn't explain simply the Blockchain and cryptocurrency to my grand parents if I tried. But if their favored congressman or celebrity/social influencer promoted it, they would be ecstatic. I believe that Facebook has this kind of influence and pull over the people on a global scale. How many women use Instagram or WhatsApp? How many people will use the Occulus rift once it works out all of it's kinks? Facebook is is heading in the right direction God speed!  Cool
We have different goals and would like to achieve in our life, if Libra can really help you then you will surely use and support it but for others that cannot gain a positive outcome to it then they will not care a little about Libra coin. That how the community works even in crypto community therefore it is about what can Libra gives to it's customers in order for the customers to use and hold Libra coin.
If they can give a satisfaction to the users then Libra coin will become successful but if Libra cannot give what the people wants then it is useless also especially if other crypto currencies can provide it.
all can determine for themselves what they feel is best, of course with existing criteria such as whether it can provide a positive thing for yourself and many people. Likewise with libra, I agree with you that whether libra really can help will automatically be used by you, but on the contrary there will be rejection if it does not affect you. as long as libra will benefit by itself will be sought and used but if not then by itself will not be useful.
Libra still has to face American regulations because it is feared that libra will damage the financial order in America. Libra has a lot of support but it still needs official regulations to make libra public. Libra still has to fight again.
My little thought is that if libra only agrees to use USD as a global guarantor reserve, this will actually be useful, especially because the centralized system can continue to progressively make policies so that all supply and demand can be controlled, this will be the same as what the USDC does, if it works and continues to grow, the application of libra will actually be very difficult if implemented outside the United States, not inside.
Firstly I would like to say I don't care about one coin from another. All I want is utility. I want to be able to pay someone for services rendered.
There is no need to have any affinity towards any particular coin and no one in the market will invest because of a particular coins simply because the name looks cool, you need to have some form of utility and profit if you are holding your value in it and that is why everyone invest in bitcoin and some in altcoins thinking that they could get any sort of benefit.
I have no loyalty to any coin.
You do not need to and if anyone say so they are getting some sort of benefit from it.
I don't have a Facebook account. But I'm going to get one because of Libra.
You do not need to create a facebook account if you are planning to use their centralized coin as they will have a separate wallet for it Wink.
If you talk about utilities and will pay someone for his services, then there are many people willing to accept with any coin, even they also accept paypal. But here discuss about a currency that can be owned without identity, self-controlled or not centralized. All these things are already owned by Bitcoin, don't you know and turn a blind eye to the use of Bitcoin from real use? Because there are many people, communities, shops, e-commerce, companies or anyone who can be paid Bitcoin for services and other things.
If we talk about libra, it's clear we know of the policy and regulatory issues of the government there that prohibit crypto and its derivatives, including libra. We can dream, but if we continue to sleep and have not yet woken up (libra launched) then it is impossible for the dream to come true.
The sad part of your comment is that you have a point. A very good point.
Just a wee quote
You may say I`m a dreamer; but I`m not the only one.
Also what you say applies to any other coin, if that coin were to become ubiquitous
None said you as a dreamer but just try to realize the fact of libra will become a reality in the future.
https://www.tradersbible.com/news/markets/facebook-shifts-focus-from-libra-to-new-payment-service
that's a new step that has already created by facebook. i think facebook has been doing the right choice, facebook needs to avoid the regulators by create another way to issue the same service.
The worst part in the economic system when anything controlled by the regulators.
Libra might look good because it is supported by the largest social media in the world with the largest number of members. But right now Libra is still facing regulatory constraints and I think this process will take a long time because it involves the monetary system adopted by America and the world.
And they have free advertisement from thier own social media which is good for maketing and to increase adoption in public using that marketing.
In terms regulatory they need to fix some issue first before they can fully launch it to public.
