These projects are extending because of the conditions of the market. Many projects now manage to reach soft cap because the market is bearish and they find it difficult to raise funds. Thats why most of them are extending their bounties.

In most cases, They are extending when they are not able to raise enough capital for there project or they are making an adjustment on there WP and roadmap overall it is not always a good thing but sometimes it is necessary. Because of the current state of the market right now most of the ICOs that I know off is extended.

Probably they haven't reached their soft cap limit or they are not satisfied with the amount of money they have raised. It is certainly advantageous for the company, but I don't see any advantages for the bounty hunters (unless, of course, they increase the bounty reward proportionally to the time spent promoting them). Personally, it hasn't happened to me to participate in such a campaign, but if it did, I wouldn't stick with it any longer.

Too many ICOs break the terms of their campaigns, which is unprofessional, and a good sign that their project is either scam or worthless.

Until the end of time
It is simple, they are extending so that the market will get better and the advantage is that when the market is in good condition, more people will invest in the ICO but if the market is bad condition, a lot of people will stay away from investing, so they are extend so that they will have a market that will be favorable for many people to invest in their ICO.

Have noticed more and more ICO's are now extending the bounty campaigns.

The question is why and for what?

Is there any advantages or disadvantages in both sides the start up companies and for the side of bounty hunters as well as on investors side?

Follow up question:

What percentage is the success ratio of extended ICOs?
