Oh well, you must be referring to the people involved in Bitcoin in general. Bitcoin started weak actually mate and people have doubted its potential but luckily it changed overtime. Also, thanks to the few people who trust their gut and knowledge towards the coin.

For some, yeah, they are still attracted to Bitcoin despite its high price now. This mostly applies to the experienced Bitcoin user but for the newbies, the price intimidates them and then cheap altcoins seem to have a better offer but of course this is mostly part of their marketing stunt but yet they still can trap a lot of newbies/people. Why Bitcoin price is very expensive?

Well, it is because it already built a solid foundation over time and people are still coming for it. And like we talk earlier, its high price is also one of the reason on why the involvement of people towards it are growing very quickly lately. When it comes to investing, that is right that we must think twice first and a cheap price shouldn't be a primary reason for us to FOMO with them. As they say, it is not about the quantity that matters but it is about the quality.

I would love to hear from you so I can tell them when this topic arise again.
Among the things you will tell your friends, include a picture of what it's with Bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency market during a bear season. Paint the picture vividly to them without mincing words so they also know it's not always rosy the way it's now. That should be a caveat from you in case they invest now and lose their funds because people like that hardly have the patience of long-suffering and perseverance.
Agreed. Him telling his friends about the bear and market correction that will happen after this bullish market is important, especially for those who are accumulating BTC now due to FOMO.

Bitcoin is the only crypto that matters in the long run. Alts are fine for quick hit and run type of actions and some of them might do well in a 5 year year period but eventually they all lose their mojo but bitcoin keeps going higher and higher.
Are you sure you want to also see ETH as a quick hit and run type? Well, I wouldn't. If there's any altcoin/crypto that has enabled and helped this industry grow this fast, I would be looking at ETH.
For established and genuine Bitcoin enthusiasts. ETH is also another quick hit-and-run crypto because all altcoins imitate the functionality and concept of Bitcoin creation. Besides, one on one printed file will always be one unless you want to have a copy of it.
This is one of the reasons why most Bitcoin enthusiast sees altcoin as a means to take away the enthusiasm of BTC from people and altcoins are an alternative from the get-go.

I was having a conversation with my friends about crypto currencies and they asked me a question about why Bitcoin price is very expensive and people are still investing in it but other altcoins are still low but people are having a double mind to invest in it.
I didn't talk much I told them that, that was how it was with Bitcoin when it started but deep down me I wanted to give them more reasons but I was short of words so I guess my people here still have something more to say so I would love to hear from you so I can tell them when this topic arise again.
Bitcoin membership has been growing very fast due to its potentials  towards the impact on the developing economy of some countries.

Regardless of bitcoins expensive nature people finds it very profitable to invest there capital because is has a potential to generate a long term wealth, it's More safer to invest in Bitcoin. Meanwhile some altcoin has a low income and a more temporary asset which some altcoin after it lunching losses it prices and values.

Bitcoin helps the wealthy individuals and organizations to safe guide there assets regardless of it's expensive nature and uncertain flatuation in it price.
Why is bitcoin becoming more expensive and people are buying it instead of altcoins?

I'll give you a very simple answer to your question.

If you knew something is performing well and everybody is talking about it, even presidents, would you ignore it and buy something that's under performing and most people have not heard about?
Let's take ETH. It used to be much more popular in 2021 and worth more than it is today. Why would I choose ETH over BTC knowing that?

If I had ETH and BTC and saw ETH being worth less than it was 4 years ago, while BTC has reached a new ATH, I'd sell my ETH and buy more BTC and that's what people are doing and that's why bitcoin is going up and many altcoins still struggle below their 2021 highs.

One of the reasons people invest in Bitcoin rather than shitty altcoins despite its high market capitalization is because it's more safer to invest than altcoins. Some altcoins after launching may drop in price and not recover back or the dev may rug the community, leaving investors in losses. Bitcoin on the other hand has been around for a some time, it's community owned, has a proven track record and no matter how deep it falls in price, it will bounce back.

It'll definitely bounce back, even without so much losses and investor's losses.Bitcoin is literally a fast growing cryptocurrency that can eventually stand on its own despite financial revolts, currency comparisons and inflations.Even with the ATH, Bitcoin is still worth the energy, consistence and investment;generally, secured and bound to presents financial outcomes.

One reason why people will continue to invest into Bitcoin is because during bull season they are believing that the price will always surge high to give them a good ROI while other cheap altcoins relays on the price of Bitcoin to surge high. Among the thousands of altcoins in the market only a few will show a growth during bear season, but during Bitcoin bull season most altcoins will move high too following the trend of Bitcoin. So, people prefer to invest in Bitcoin rather than gamble on some altcoins.

And there is even a possibility that during bull run it might continue to go higher but we all know it won't be for long, the price will definitely come down so we need to have an understanding very early when to invest and when not to invest if we all notice when it comes bear market you see they tell everyone to buy and hold so it will be better if we learn to follow the sequence, buy when the price is low and sell when it's high so we don't have have to be confuse on what to do at a particular time, it as always been normal that all the price of altcoin will depend on bitcoin without bitcoin going higher there won't be any changes so it will be better to do everything about investment when the price is down. And even when bitcoin is going higher not all coins are able to follow up and that is one we have to be mindful of the coin we buy and hold.

To be fair not wanting to be CEO again is reasonable, last time he was the CEO he was jailed, and he doesn't want to take that type of risk and there are a lot of troubles and we shouldn't really consider this to be a big deal like that, we need to consider it as very and fairly normal for him to avoid that. BNB will keep growing at a decent rate though.

Because Binance is still the biggest crypto company in the entire world, and that means we are talking about a lot of money and that is why we are going to get a greater return from this without much trouble, what we are seeing at the moment here is that we can make this work one way or another, and for that to mean something we are going to get a lot of profit, BNB is just growing based on how big Binance is, they even burn it and make it more scarce as well.
You are right about the rank, he must have fed up from the stress as he have enough money ( i suppose) to live his remaining life without working or maybe as you said jail might have changed his mind. I don't get to judge him as we know it's their choice but from an investor's point of view his yes could have pumped BNB a lot. Speaking of Binance and BNB they really have become the world most famoud exchange and old, trust worthy network (respectively) in crypto world. I have not made any researched in BNB network yet.

But as I join airdrops and the hype currently is of meme coins and due to which some good projects built on BNB are not getting listed by the Binance too bad for them but this can be beneficial for Binance and BNB money wise but not good for it's logevity.

ETH is the king but don't know why it is not performing well I mean I thought when its ETF got approved it will also break ATH but it still taking a lot of time to reach its ATH. SOL is best and BNB would also pump if CZ would have not made the statement that he don't want to be the CEO of Binance again.

Well, big moves are in play maybe here like 4.2 Billion fine and he don't want to talk about CEO seat in public seems odd. Speaking of memecoins again, today one of the groups I follow shared two meme coin tades and I took them unknowingly that they are memes, but I sold them quickly, I searched about them and they were going to get listed on Coinbase and 1 billion market cap is to add too so so bullish news and pump was programmed but I canceld and avoided it because I don't want to become an addict of this asset now hehe as I know it's very high and risky.

Where there are profits, people will surely rush investing on that. That’s what bitcoin is. Bitcoin has already proven its limitless value and utility case for more than a decade, so it’s not surprising actually why people chose to invest in bitcoin than going into altcoins. The fact that bitcoin always recovers and still skyrocketing, so there’s no reason for doubting bitcoin anymore, bitcoin always leads, altcoins just follow and imitate.

That's basically it, everyone explained it very well. Bitcoin is a safe haven, we know that it will grow, we have every trust in the world that it will do fine, whereas we are not sure about altcoins, that's literally the only reason. Don't get it wrong though, everyone has their own favourite altcoin as well, for example I love SOL, but that doesn't mean I will invest into SOL more than I invest into bitcoin, no matter how much I love SOL, it's still Bitcoin that I invest the most, SOL is second place, then ETH and so forth, we share it later on with other coins. So everyone has a common Bitcoin on their portfolio, at least majority of the people, some do not get bitcoin at all, and that means we all have bitcoin and the other altcoins are more personal preference.

BTC is the king of all coins, ETH is the king of alt coins, it will never disappear, as well as SOL, BNB, Lite coin, these coins have been in the market for a long time, and have become more valuable over time, so these coins are also relatively safe.
However, investing in the meme coins you mentioned is much more risky. However, investing in these meme coins has a much higher profit, but the risk Possibility is more likely than the profit.
Therefore, the investment decision depends on the risk-taking ability of an investor. Because if an investor invests the necessary money in a meme coin, (which you will have to face serious problems if you lose), it can also be lost. Because meme coins dump a lot at any time, and pump at any time, but most memes are bad, and one or two memes give something good.
So you must invest in the right place, it is best if you invest in Bitcoin, because it has the potential to bring life-changing success to every investor in the future.

It is not about the price of the coin, but its utility. Many altcoins may be cheaper to buy, but many of them have no future, they are just pump and dump coins that have no real value or utility. If you want to buy crypto, you should be looking beyond the price of the coin, you should be looking at what the coin offers, is there any real life value, is it a long term coin, etc.

These are the reasons and more why people buy BTC over other coins, and you do not have to buy one whole BTC, you can buy with any amount you can afford and with time you can continuously add to your investment.
It’s as simple as that. This is the main reason why people chose Bitcoin over altcoins. OP, when next the same question pops up, if there would be, this the correct answer you will give to your friends as Z-tight explains it better for everyone to easily understand the reason behind why Bitcoin ownership is growing faster in today's world. Someone can invest with an amount, and learn to hodl their Bitcoin as long as they want

Reasons why people prefer to investing in Bitcoin even with the expensive price,  When you talk about true decentralization then Bitcoin comes into play. Bitcoin has fixed amout of supply of 21M and no one can ever more than that ,Bitcoin is a deflationary asset whereas othe altcoins are not. Bitcoin has been a hedge against inflation historically, it has been increasing in value over time, that is, after every 4 years, Bitcoin has always increased in price.

Secondly, another reason why many choose to invest in Bitcoin is that it is a major asset, whose price movement always influence the value of other cryptocurrencies. Unlike these altcoins whose price movement can never influence Bitcoin.
Yes, it is definitely worth investing in. I think the journey of the crypto world would never have been like this without Bitcoin. Everyone has a trust in Bitcoin and there is no doubt that trust can be placed here. This is the best coin for investment, other than this, no other coin is trusted in the market. Sometimes it is surprising when I see the price of Bitcoin and the prices of all other coins fluctuate. When I see such a situation, I feel very good.

Bitcoin can be expected to do better in the near future because Bitcoin is such a coin in which if we invest, we can achieve something good in the near future.

There is always a popular saying that when you ask questions, you can never get lost, and as such I'm happy you were able to identify this forum as the best place to get genuine response regarding topics that has to do with Bitcoin and crypto in general. So just like I said, there are a whole lot of reasons why people invest in Bitcoin, rather than other altcoins, ranging from the less volatile nature Bitcoin has, and a sure steady increased in long term investment, as compared to others that are very volatile, whereby you risk losing all your entire when you intend to hold long term.

Secondly, another reason why many choose to invest in Bitcoin is that it is a major asset, whose price movement always influence the value of other cryptocurrencies. Unlike these altcoins whose price movement can never influence Bitcoin.

I think the reason why people are making Bitcoin popular is because of people's trust in Bitcoin, and more people are becoming interested in buying Bitcoin, which is why the price of Bitcoin is also increasing as the demand for Bitcoin increases in the free market. The reason for trust in Bitcoin is that unlike other coins, Bitcoin is unlikely to be lost. In fact, Bitcoin is the most secure and reliable coin to keep in the long term. You can call Bitcoin the heart of digital currency, because Bitcoin is the first digital currency to come to the market. All other coins are copies of Bitcoin. You can never compete with the original product with a copy product or achieve equal popularity.

There are some reasons why people are in high demand for Bitcoin, such as -
1. More miners make Bitcoin more secure.
2. Bitcoin's strong blockchain, which is almost impossible to hack.
3. The first digital currency or more popular.
4. Investment in Bitcoin by large companies, which makes Bitcoin more reliable.......

I think in this situation I would say BTC is the safest way and investing in alts is not that safe but yeah with some good narrative tokens which should be old like they are in the market for many years like Sol, ETH, ADA etc. etc. Point is, Investing in BTC, SOl, ETH is safest while investing in low caps or meme coins from alts category is very risky and aggressive form of investment which can have huge loss but the profit can be huge as well.

Overall a investor should first make a plan about how much risk he can take for examples low risk, medium risk or aggressive risk. Then according to these categories divide his capital into these three categories and the safest investment in my sight is to invest in BTC, SOL, ETH and high cap tokens.
This question will be answered in two different form, I believe that bitcoin price been higher or lower will not make investors not to invest on Bitcoin....when bitcoin is high people will still develop the interest to invest in bitcoin, so therefore you can invest any time you feel like because theirs no time bitcoin can not increase or decrease in value, what we need is to have the capital and purchase when our mindset permits us to purchase bitcoin, even though bitcoin is expensive ensure you have purchase yours and keep, So for the aspect of altcoins you need to understand that bitcoin gives rise to altcoins and without bitcoin experiencing efficient bullrun I don't think that altcoins will increase. So altcoins is a sub of bitcoin and without existence of bitcoin altcoins will not last, if intercontinental government bans bitcoin today I will not reach two days you will not experience the existence of altcoins.

Altcoins have doom future and most of altcoins failed and died with time. It's a report from Coingecko, and there are many reports on dead altcoins.
Dead coins.
Number of Failed Crypto Coins, by Year

Bitcoin is strongest cryptocurrency in blockchain security, decentralization and a safest cryptocurrency in the market. Altcoins are more risky in recent years because they were created with Smart Contracts, and altcoins with Proof of Work less appeared in last two market cycles.
But not all altcoins will fail or die over time. I know we are on a bitcoin forum and most of you are bitcoin maximalists but there is no denying the fact that. There are many altcoins that have existed and will continue to play an important role in the cryptocurrency industry such as: ETH, XRP, BNB...or even Doge will be the names representing the cryptocurrency industry in the future. The crypto industry is not just about bitcoin, we have many other projects.

I am not saying we should invest in bitcoin or altcoin because it is everyone's choice, I mean we should be honest when talking about bitcoin in particular and the crypto industry in general.

Well, basically it is difficult to convince people why they should choose bitcoin, especially if they think that in altcoins they can get huge profits. These people usually only think about big and fast profits. For me personally, i will not try harder to explain to people who think like this, because people like this only need proof, and i will provide evidence of the results of my investment in bitcoin to them.

Why Bitcoin can be expensive, because its demand continues to increase and its supply is increasingly limited which makes the price of Bitcoin more expensive because the amount is limited and only 21 million bitcoins. So because of the high demand that makes the price of Bitcoin expensive because everyone wants to buy or trade Bitcoin which makes the price of bitcoin tend to increase. Likewise, if demand decreases, the price of bitcoin is likely to fall.

And besides that Bitcoin is the first and number one digital coin in the world and also has the largest capitalization which makes Bitcoin more solid and expensive and also trusted among other altcoins in terms of profits that have clear prospects for the long term, and even though Bitcoin is very expensive it doesn't mean you can't buy it and you can buy in small amounts according to your ability by using the DCA method you can buy regularly every week or month in small amounts according to your ability which makes your Bitcoin accumulate and become large in the long term.

Indeed, there are many reasons why Bitcoin is more popular than other crypto assets. The first reason Bitcoin has a decentralized system, in my opinion this reason is very interesting and a sign that differentiates Bitcoin from other crypto assets. Because most of the crypto assets or altcoins currently available, as far as I know, are not decentralized. So I personally think this is the factor that makes many people quicker to believe and invest in bitcoin. In essence, this decentralization factor makes people more confident and feel safe when investing in bitcoin.

The second reason is that bitcoin has a limited supply. This reason also has a big influence on the price of Bitcoin or the attractiveness of people to buy it. Because with a limited supply of bitcoin, the price will definitely get more expensive as time goes by. So it is not surprising that the growth of bitcoin investors is currently experiencing a very significant increase. This is different from the current Altcoins, most of which have a very large supply. So it is definitely very difficult for the price to increase significantly. I think in short that's why bitcoin is superior to other crypto assets.

The point is that investing in bitcoin is safer or has minimal risk and also has enormous potential than investing in other crypto assets.

It's because people are inviting people to invest in Bitcoin.

There have been so many thread where the @OP claimed to explain, teach, encourage, invite etc people to invest in Bitcoin, they want Bitcoin to be mass adopts. Hence, the Bitcoin membership growing really fast.

You yourself know that Bitcoin is the top number one coin in the crypto world and only Bitcoin has been declared as a legal currency in many countries.
Only El Salvador legalize Bitcoin as a legal currency, while most countries legalize Bitcoin as a legal commodity or security.

You yourself know that Bitcoin is the top number one coin in the crypto world and only Bitcoin has been declared as a legal currency in many countries. And on the other hand, Bitcoin's supply is limited and no one can increase its supply even if they want to. Due to which day by day the demand of Bitcoin will be more expensive. Investors have been investing in Bitcoin for years with this in mind. So the Bitcoin crisis is slowly appearing in the market and that is why Bitcoin is becoming more and more expansive. And in the future surely bitcoin will be more expansive everyone has to believe it.

Bitcoin is expensive because it has limitless opportunities to grow in the market, and wise investors have seen it and even proven its real potentials in the market. So regardless of the price, bitcoin still gains the most in demand crypto in the market due to its high utility case. Unlike most altcoins that are just pump and dump scheme, which gave no assurance if they can still recover from their dump price.

Bitcoin is moving for many reasons  - and it will become more and more appreciated and adopted as time goes on, in my opinion.
Though BTC itself, without Lightning Network and the likes of it is sometimes spoken only in the investment sense (spikes of the fees, all that jazz that sometimes arises, naturally), it still is a king of crypto and has clear goals in front of itself. And the greatest community.

The answer to OP's question is very simple. People like winners and will do anything to be a part of the winning team. A lot of people who thought $50K bitcoin was expensive has since joined the bandwagon to ride it to $99K even at $100K and $150K, there would still be more buyers because Bitcoin is the only limited and finite asset in the world right now. So to conclude, use these on your bullet list of "why Bitcoin" question next time.

1. Only finite asset in the world (21M max supply, real number is even lower since millions is considered lost).
2. It's a movement already revolutionizing the financial world
3. Everyone loves winners and Bitcoin is one.
4. Permissionless and Completely community owned.
5. Bitcoin is Money. (this is the simplest definition of Bitcoin btw).

Bitcoin is freedom  Cool
I would add up one more right here.

OP, You have been on the forum for a year and somehow even get merits, but, strangely, you cannot explain to your friends the difference between bitcoin and other alternative coins. Whenever I see such topics, I always go to the user's history to understand what is wrong with him. And yes, I found the reason. You practically do not read the section about Bitcoin, although you are directly on the thematic forum. I will say in your words If you understood what you were talking about:

Most specifically this group as the name implies BITCOIN TALK, is a place to talk about Bitcoin and also make contributions and also make comments for wider ideas to flow and there are other crypto currencies discussed down here.

A person can't persuade another to do something when they have not yet seen the results for example, you as a child you depend on your parents for every of your up keep and at the end of the day you go telling them that you have an investment you want to introduce to them, and knowing how our African parents can be smart with questions especially when it comes to an online business that involves money it will be a waste of energy trying to persuade them when they haven't seen the good news in you but when u stop depending on them and pay ur bills they will be wondering what's going on they will want to know what you do from there u fit run enter them and they will be eager to listen.

So the only way to persuade a person to something is when u are the example of ur words.

I found a similar topic created by you. Everything is clear here. For some strange reason, you do not believe in the value of Bitcoin, since you still have not bought it. Therefore, change the title of the topic. Firstly, you must understand what people are asking you about. But seeing this, I understand that you need to read carefully yourself and only then teach others.

People have more confidence in bitcoin than any other altcoins out there, that's why the ownership of bitcoin keeps increasing everyday. Even when bitcoin dumps, it has the ability to get back to it's previous price and go far above it faster than any other altcoins out there. That's why people prefer it more than any other altcoins. Also it's decentralised nature is also one of the main reasons why it is the most preferred coin. Just look at what's happening in the market currently, bitcoin has crossed it's previous ATH months ago and has continued setting new ones, yet many of the altcoins are still struggling to get to half of their previous ATH. So there are many reasons to give your colleagues who are asking you why bitcoin is the most preferred when next they ask you such question. You don't even need to think about it or consult anyone before knowing what to say as regarding why bitcoin is the most preferred coin out there.

So basically, your choice of words in the title is quite misleading because it has really no connection to the content.

Well, OP when such question is asked again I hope you will know something better to say than the above. bitcoin is not just a crypto currency it's a paradigm and the root to other cryptocurrencies that exist out there. so having to invest in bitcoin gives one the edge of confidence that their money is safe even though safety depends on your capacity to safe guard your wallet.

You should say something simple like bitcoin is far better than other cryptocurrencies because it's the king and can't disappear like other coins, other coins are shitty compared to bitcoin so you're friends can have a clue that bitcoin is a safe investment and a better currency.
Bitcoin is not a paradigm. It is just an electronic payment system that uses the coin of the same name for payments. Yes, such a phenomenon did not exist before. In addition, the decentralization of this system began to attract a large number of people who understood the advantages of this method of transactions. You can send money to any point in the world, which cannot be done with fiat money, for example, due to sanctions imposed on a particular state. This is where I live. Now I can’t just send money to another country. I have to use Bitcoin and other alts. Yes, a commission is charged and it takes more time, but this is a really great method that has no competition.

Op please edit your topic or subject whatever name you understand. If you are concerned on the content then your subject is out of point and if your interested in the subject then your content is out of point. Go and restructure your topic again because it is not tally with the body of the thread. Bitcoin price is not expensive for people to buy. You can buy as low N1,000 BTC which is equivalent to $0.6 and you can see it from the image below.

So you can't say Bitcoin is so expensive to buy. You don't have to buy 1 BTC before you that you are investing in bitcoin but you can invest with little amount every day, week and monthly through the DCA method.
You’re right. You don’t need to buy 1 bitcoin($96k) at a time, buying a fraction of bitcoin using DCA strategy is the best way to accumulate bitcoins. I think the challenge is that most people buy bitcoin for investment purposes and have a preconceived notion that Bitcoin is a get-rich-quick scheme so you can imagine how buying $0.6 worth of bitcoin does not fit into their plan.

There's nothing actually like Bitcoin membership thing and it possibly mislead people especially if they just read the title header.

Reason why bitcoin grows more bigger is the demand and trust of people that bitcoin will dominate more. Compare to alts where everything out there is questionable.

There's lots of scam on altcoins that's why people are skeptical to hold it, that's why rather than having doubts or confusion better stick on gaining lots of knowledge about bitcoin since for sure that everything would be worth it. Although right now you may think bitcoin is expensive as a whole but you can buy a portion for whatever things you like to happen.

OP I think you should edit the title of your topic. I thought you were talking about the increase of members on the forum. It’s normal for people to become interested in bitcoin once the price is up, I think a lot of people are moved to buy bitcoin because of profits. And majority of them end up buying altcoins instead of investing in Bitcoin because they are interested in quick profits.

The answer is very obvious. Because bitcoin is the only reliable and highly profitable cryptocurrency in the market, the rest are just a copied image which until now cannot still surpass or even manage to grow and develop like bitcoin. And to think that bitcoin is the blood of the cryptocurrency market, the king of all cryptocurrencies,  no wonder why bitcoin gains more membership than other crypto coins.

Bitcoin has the largest market cap in the crypto market because it has the potential to store values and so much, not highily volatile like the AltCoins that're highily volatile very vulnerables to dump due to it limited utility potentials.
Very quickly, bitcoin has been a hot coin for enthusiasts in the crypto space in that it has a limited supply of 21 million invented bitcoins which is very intensive and attracted by users to buy because investors are holding and accumulating so much of it otherwise investing for long term which also big whales are diving into the bitcoin market including small investors are wailing to buy before it runs out of stock.
So it's like demands are more than the supplies due to the limited supply of bitcoin.

I don't think 'membership' is the correct word for the tittle, adoption/buyer/user/investor, would be better choice. And the reason why Bitcoin price and marketcap keep rising, while most altcoin is stuck and then died, is because the trust and adoption itself, because there are already many people using and invest on Bitcoin so it creates trust for everyone who wants to begin to buy Bitcoin. While some altcoins who are just started has no user so the trust is low, on the other hand we can see popular altcoin like ETH and BNB that already have their own users are able to maintain its price and marketcap.

We usually use the term crypto user/investor and not a member though. Anyway, whatever the OP wants to convey, it is just about adoption in this market. And as this market is going mainstream, definitely, it will attract more users or investors as they are seeing how the price is increasing. This market is still very volatile, hence, people are very interested owed to the notion that they can get large profits in a very short period of time. However, it depends on how they will strategize in buying and selling of their satoshis.

Concerning benefit attached to bitcoin investment still requires knowledge, loss is totally unpredictable meaning an investor might encounter loss while investing but what’s more important about bitcoin is your profit making will be determined by you alone (optional) bitcoin investment is a long term investment that requires a good plan so anyone who decides to go for short profit will see the end result probably loss. Meanwhile altcoins at the other hand is totally not safe, these coins are created by  group of people either a community yet what’s their aim exactly? No need for deep explanation most people ended up investing everything in a dump coin except they’re smart enough to identify a coin potential or else it’s risky, I believe we’ve talked more on bitcoin vs altcoin well it’s common.

OP from what you said here, i can directly tell you that you are a bit confused because while trying to let your friend know that bitcoin started just like some altcoins are now before bitcoin got to where it is today, you are also indirectly telling your friend to invest in those altcoins since they are affordable and may also perform as bitcoin is performing now in the future but even if that is not what you really meant, you actually sounded like someone who is driving at such direction.

Bitcoin adoption will continue to grow because everyone wants to have an asset that is valuable and has the monopoly to outsmart other coins in the market and stand on it's own without being affected by the activity of other cryptocurrency. Bitcoin adoption being on the increase doesn't actually implies that everyone must own a whole bitcoin. Starting from any fraction of it you can be able to buy and hodl is a very good step to increasing your hodlings with time and before you realizes, you must have acquired more than 1 btc in your holding.

I don't want to say that I am a member because indeed I am not a member but when it comes to bitcoin I would be very confident that I am one of the people who own bitcoin or the current owner of bitcoin.
The reason why I am in bitcoin is ultimately about confidence and seeing the potential of what has happened since a few years from when they existed until now so by seeing good progress like this then it is clear that being in bitcoin is a very worthy thing to do.

Why not with altcoins? actually this is the choice of each and I think everyone must have their own thoughts on this matter but for me personally as long as I can be in bitcoin and still think bitcoin is the king then why do I try in altcoins which are indeed in terms of conditions and management the risk is clearly much greater.

Bitcoin's price is expensive because it has a limited supply of 21 million Bitcoins, from which 19.8 million coins are mined and 3.8 million coins are lost. Bitcoin is probably the only decentralized coin because it's the most adopted coin, mined all around the world and it's creator is unknown for the world, he remained anonymous and disappeared, which strengthened the decentralized legacy of Bitcoin.

So, there is a limited supply and there is a demand, many institutions are adopting Bitcoin and there are still many more that will adapt Bitcoin because it's the future, it's simply inevitable. Bitcoin ETF approvals prove again that Bitcoin will further be adopted. So, that's why people invest in it.
Back in the past on which it isnt really that getting that much attention or recognition but still there are still those people who are really that believing into this technology and thats why the had risked out on investing into those moments or time that it was still that still cheap. So how it do end up? They are the ones who do make money with this current market condition specially on breaking up new all time highs.
No one had anticipated that this would really be that become too big on which it did really comes into a point that government and institutions are really that making up some recognition and now that it is really that starting these funds are flowing into this crypto market which does simply means that it is really that making some noise now and even government and billionaires are really that been starting out to dive in.

Adoption and recognition is on the move and one of the most notable event is that when the time that El Salvador did make Bitcoin as legal tender on which it did really shook up other countries on such decision.
They did even accumulate even more on the time that Bitcoins price dip on $15-20k as far as i remember and that one really paid off if we do base up on the current price condition that we are into.
This is why if you are an investor then riding up with the waves will really be the best thing to do.

Bitcoin will keep growing fast as long as there are lots of huge companies accepting it as an asset that is worth investing in. When it all started, the model was meant to be for payment especially. With time it becomes more like a store of value for safeguarding our fiat against inflation. But currently, it is one of the best assets to invest in for the long term. In the meantime, it generally serves all the purposes it was built for and another purpose we the adopters assigned to it.

I was having a conversation with my friends about crypto currencies and they asked me a question about why Bitcoin price is very expensive and people are still investing in it but other altcoins are still low but people are having a double mind to invest in it.

One thing I want to ask is how you guys calculate and value a profit or an asset. Do your friends just consider all cryptocurrency to be sharing the same value? Let's take the limited supply of bitcoin aside from the demand for bitcoin; some are already arguing that bitcoin is currently underpriced rather than seeing it as something that is high in price.

This might not make much sense to you, but you can use different countries currencies as an example. They all are official currencies for each country, but why is one currency much more valued than the other?
It seems am not the only one who has been trying to figure this out. The value of an asset varies based on each local currency. An asset might be valuable to people who use Japanese Yen but comparing that asset to the US dollars it may not be valuable. Generalizing the asset to be valuable globally might look more like exaggerating.

Most altcoins have a lot of problems when compared to Bitcoin:

1) they are not really decentralized, they are managed by a single company -- this basically means they don't really need a blockchain and make no sense
2) if they are PoW currencies, they are far less secure than Bitcoin,
3) if they are PoS currencies, their security depends on a certain degree of centralization,
4) many have only speculative usage (with a few exceptions like ETH, XMR, SOL, LTC ...)
5) from those promising some sort of "new paradigm", most of those "paradigms" are small improvements which could often be adopted by other altcoins too,

In addition,

- altcoins have historically underperformed Bitcoin in all timeframes longer than 5 years,
- there were lots of scams in the altcoin sector, scaring possible users away (and often the users are correct ..)
- Bitcoin got ETFs, only two other altcoins have ETFs (ETH and SOL, SOL only in Brazil)

This is why Bitcoin's "membership" and also its market cap in comparison to altcoins -- popularly called "Bitcoin Dominance" -- is growing, see here.

Just a little addition: While "membership" may look strange and seem not totally accurate, I don't think it's totally wrong, because users of a cryptocurrency do form part of some kind of "decentralized organization" (DAO) or group.

Most of the altcoins now have been pumped already. And whenever someone says that Bitcoin was already very expensive, it will always be with that kind of description even in bear markets. You're right, people keeps on having a double mind to invest because they're doubting it even when the prices are considered low.

I didn't talk much I told them that, that was how it was with Bitcoin when it started but deep down me I wanted to give them more reasons but I was short of words so I guess my people here still have something more to say so I would love to hear from you so I can tell them when this topic arise again.
Change your title, Bitcoin has no membership. It's a decentralized cryptocurrency and a store of value for which we are all holding it as an asset. Maybe Bitcoin's "popularity" is rapidly growing.

Not everyone is buying one Bitcoin and above, some are buying in bits which makes it affordable. Most people prefer Bitcoin because it could be held as an asset for a long time. This is because it has proved over the years to be reliable. It is also very simple to invest in Bitcoin compared to altcoins. There are many altcoins and most of them have proved to be scams, so people are careful not to invest in them . In terms of profitability, Bitcoin has also proved to give investors good returns if held for a long time. Also among all the cryptos Bitcoin is the most stable/volatile making it the best choice. Also the influx of institutional investors and the government into the Bitcoin space has also made Bitcoin more popular and reliable than others.

The probability of making profits from bitcoin in the long term is higher than the overall profits in altcoins, and even to traders, the probability of incurring losses is higher in altcoins compared to that of bitcoin, so for sure, investors have more hope in bitcoin much more than than they have on altcoins.

So it's a clear caught acatchnt of action when it comes to choosing where to invest between bitcoin and altcoins.

Bitcoin is all that matters in the long time. All other cryptocurrencies are generally referred to as altcoins because none of them can be able to stand the position Bitcoin is today and their existence has a a stronghold of what bitcoin is today. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency and till date its decentralized nature has made it a more dependable coin to invest in rather than depending on some altcoins that the future of them may not be certain and has a very high probability of not staying long in the market. Telling them that is how bitcoin started has been the case of many altcoins and several years down the line, they’re either no more in the market or have lost their value and cannot grow higher than what they are today. The adoption and use case of bitcoin will make it a more dependable option to go for in the midst of many coins that their value can no longer be dependent on.

@OP it is quite simple because there are people willing to compete with the price of Bitcoin just to own it.  We all know that in a free market, price is dictated by the demand.  If the price in continuously increasing, it simply means that there are more and more people willing to spend their money to have Bitcoin.

The reason behind why people wanted to acquire Bitcoin varies from person to person but most of them are hoping that they will get a huge profit from holding it for years and sell it at their target price.  Others find Bitcoin the idea that holding it makes them control their own wealth far from the prying eyes of the government and so on.

and just to expand on what serjent05 posted...

demand is rising from all corners of society,

the wealthy are slowly realising that Bitcoin offers the best store of wealth into the
future, better than property, Gold, "rare desireable" taking that from M.Saylor Art.

Compared to all those Bitcoin offers superior wealth transfer without taxation
for example. Its easy to buy a piece of Bitcoin - $25 worth for example.

Others are realising that they dont actually have to own 1 Bitcoin and so owning
Satoshi's instead is far more achievable for many people.

When the Bitcoin market moves up more people want to be part of it. Hopefully the
message about looking into the future has reached more people.

Bitcoin is the only crypto that matters in the long run. Alts are fine for quick hit and run type of actions and some of them might do well in a 5 year year period but eventually they all lose their mojo but bitcoin keeps going higher and higher. It is only natural that some people think alts are cheaper therefore buying them makes more sense because the upside potential is higher. Obviously they can't see the bigger picture clearly. Price means nothing in the end. User adoption, merchant adoption, trading volume, brand recognition, network size... These are way more important.

Well there are quite lots of reason why people are investing in Bitcoin rather than Altcoins
And if it's for quick profit many would flock to altcoins.
Bitcoin was created because the current traditional system is failing
And history can back the success of Bitcoin.
Most popular is that is a means of accumulating wealth to to mention it been an hedge over inflation.

In summary It's trust, Bitcoin has given adopters reasons to trust it over others.

Bitcoin adoption growing fast in relative to altcoins would be better
You don't subscribe to Bitcoin, You own Bitcoin.
