by "demand" i mean "users keep asking them to add something". they have been badgering blockchain.info to credit their bitcoin cash for a long time now. the support is flooded with people asking them to give it to them, specially after it was pumped.
but i don't see that many asking them, or flooding their support with requests to force them to add SegWit. that is what i meant by lack of demand.

Users? Which ones? Bitcoin Cash users? Blockchain.info should check the mempool and how high the no. of unconfirmed transactions is.

But why do they refuse to use Segwit? Maybe we should campaign for users to start using GreenAddress. It is more secure and it has Segwit enabled by default.

Blockchain.info are following trends and Bitcoin Cash is currently being hyped and it is much cheaper per transaction.

But if Segwit is enabled it can scale up to 8000 transactions per block. That will easily reduce the mempool backlog much faster. Plus the Core developers did it without any requirement for a hard fork

They operate an exchange too, and this is a major income source for them. They will follow the volume of transactions and the trade volumes..

Are you trying to tell everyone that it is better to move the whole Bitcoin economy to Bitcoin Cash?

The strategy will be to follow the money. SegWit does not add new income, it just adds improved functionality.

Meaning? Bitcoin's merchants and wallet providers are acting under the self interest of the miners?

Blockchain.info was one of the Bitcoin services that was in an uproar for the high transaction fees their customers were paying. But after a very rocky ride, Core's Segwit as a solution to increase the transaction throughput and lower fees is there available and waiting to be implemented. But why is no service having it enabled?

Plus with that, why is Blockchain.info starting to accept Bitcoin Cash instead?
Blockchain.info has already supported it but segwit will be available on their service next year but still no exact date when will they release it. It sucks that hardware wallets are the only (I think) Bitcoin wallet that supports segwit, if all wallet will support it, it may not solve the problem but it can reduce the transaction fee and the waiting time that we are all experiencing right now. But this blockchain.info still prioritize to fully support Bitcoin Cash by the end of the year because they said on their announcement that the market demand is increasing for this alttcoin. Because the SW program has not started yet, because the CORE team does not know what to think. And BCH is a coin that has proven and can be accepted by most people, although I think BCH is just an ordinary altcoin.

SegWit means less fees and that means lower profits for miners and exchanges, and since all is about profit it is not hard to see why some people fits this situation. And it would be interesting to see what is the percentage of users on blockchain wallet who even know what is SegWit.

Interesting information about Mr.Roger and his involvement in this,I have to admit I did not know he have shares in blockchain.info,it certainly explains why BCH is available there.

Anyway users should be more focus on desktops and hardware wallets these days, especially after some suspicious hacks of users accounts on blockchain.info wallet recently.

Maybe because of the unresolved problems in btc. Bitcoin today are having very high fees and slow transactions, BCH has lower fees and a more dependable network now ( due to less supporters  Grin ). And many are complaining about this some time now.
I think what BCH has is what companies want for their business. Until Bitcoin’s issues are currently uresolved, we will continue seeing such events.

if we all ask to accept 2x may accept it.

2x not have support from developers like  BCH and it is not final solution for high fee

They have already implemented the option to exchange bitcoin for ethereum, they are just doing all what people is asking them to do.
So i dont think that it is not a good thing, they are just paying a lot of attention to their community and their real supporters

But yes, segwit is really necessary, now that fees are very expensive.

lack of demand maybe? there are wallets that have SegWit enabled for some time now but i don't see any increase in its usage. maybe since exchanges and other services have not done it, activating SegWit was a low priority for BC.I

Lack of demand? Have you seen how flooded the mempool is lately? Fees are so high that users are unable to do small transactions because it eats up most of the coins they are sending.

Plus look at the price. If that makes you think there is a lack in demand, I am not sure where you are looking.

demand? the pump of BCH made a lot of people think about investing in it. not to mention all the advertisement that it is getting.

... or maybe it is all about SegWit2x being cancelled...

What demand? Hahaha. There are more users and more merchants accepting Bitcoin. I believe you have everything in reverse.

Roger Ver might also have a hand in that, because it is public knowledge that he had shares in Blockchain.info and even adminstrative rights that he misused for personal gain.   Roll Eyes

The BCash is also not fully implemented yet, because I see no option to import BCash from private keys. So BTC is still much better than BCash on that platform. ^smile^
