Rank in this forum means nothing.

There are legendaries which doesn't even know what is a private key.

Or doesn't even know the difference between a SegWit and a non-SegWit address.. I mean, take a look at the user applications on the ChipMixer signature campaign thread.. 😬😬

Hi! I am curious about this why is it some of the newbies here looks like they have already a knowledge about cryptocurrency? Because when we say NEWBIES that is basically the first time to learn about crypto especially here in the forum. It is understood that they don't have enough knowledge about crypto. LIKE THIS ONE this user seems he have already a knowledge in crypto even if he has newbie, so probably they learn crypto before he created an account on bitcointalk? But where he learn about crypto i thought bitcointalk is the main source of knowledge about crypto? Or just maybe he created an other account.

You can learn Crypto here in Bitcoin without creating an account and just read what the topics all about and a legendary member or an old timer can also create a new account as a back up account because the forum has no restriction if you want to create an alternative account.I myself took me a year of roaming here before creating my own account.

That's already what you've got mate? Then meet nullius. Believe it or not, he started from newbie Grin. Just forget about his trust rating, look on the number of merits he had, it was overflowing Shocked.

Yeah this is the best archival for crypto knowledge but mate this doesn't mean this is the sole source in the planet Grin. Of course most of them learned from books and their mentors or from their own experiences.
Or just maybe he created an other account.
Possible but we can't easily accused a particular Newbie that he is an alt just because he has a Legendary knowledge. You should present concrete evidence first. That's how things work here.

They just don't sit idle and give time learning a lot about BTC and other relevant aspects of it as well as write their own content for an in-depth knowledge surrounding to be created where they follow themselves and are not like those newbies who come here solely for money just looking after people earning some money through signature campaigns.

Rank in this forum means nothing.

There are legendaries which doesn't even know what is a private key. I was really impressed when I joined this forum and saw so many legendaries which were  completely newbies in crypto.

The reason is that this forum had a bad time before the merit system was implemented. People created accounts here just for bounties and spammed everywhere. Now it is harder to rank up, so you will find newbie working hard to rank up.
You're absolutely right mate even me I'm member rank but I don't have much knowledge in cryptocurrency. Just like what you said, the last time that no need merit to rank up is easy to rank up even by just posting unuseful post, that's why forum rank is not a definition of how much knowledge you know in crypto.

I believe some are just alt accounts trying to earn merit by posting a good topic and helpful thread, but not at all times, We all started as a newbie here in the forum and some has already a piece of knowledge about crypto before joining here. But I guess the majority is just alt accounts but I am not really sure I don't have any proof. Alt accounts are allowed here as long as you don't use it for farming.

Cheesy you should know that newbie is a name that is associated with the newly registered members on the forum and not squarely base on their past experience. Many of these Newborn accounts tag Newbie are most farmed account to spam around the forum. Some of these Newbie, will never care to read the rules and regulations guiding the forum, some even plagiarised outright at their very first post on the forum. Like the account pointed out. Most of these Newbie are spammers throughout  the breath and length of this forum.

There are newbies who are actually alt-accounts of experienced members. There are also some people who were working with crypto for quite a long time but only recently decided to join this forum.

It's actually a poor example, seems like another useless text-spinner or plagiariser that posts "useful" topics. Better check the user nullius who isn't a newbie now, but was as knowledgeable as they are now from day 1.

It's just a rank on a forum it doesn't really reflect how knowledgeable a user is. Therefore, never judge a user only based on his rank.
One may hear or learn about cryptocurrencies elsewhere before joining this forum.

There are quite a few people who've told me they were playing with Bitcoin for well over a year before arriving here. That was in the earlier days. In recent times with so many other outlets I've seen many people heavily into crypto who've never been here at all. These days you have Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, Telegram, Slack and many more.

That lack of curiosity about here strikes me as really strange but I guess we're not all the same. If one of them suddenly turns up here one day they'll have a ton of knowledge already.

I think I signed up not too far off the same time I got interested in the whole thing.

- Being a newbie in the forum is just a rank. Not because you see a newbie rank here, they are literally newbie in crypto. Where did they learn about crypto stuff? Not necessary to know if they are really a crypto-enthusiast or serious in gaining knowledge, there are lots of sources other than Bitcointalk.

- These people created new accounts for advertising purposes. Might be legit, scam or they want the same username that follow their company's name.

- As mentioned above, plagiarizing or copying content for their own "purpose".

Newbie to the forum do not imply newbie to knowledge on cryptocurrency. Also some newbies are very fast learners and was quick enough to grab useful point.
In a sad note some newbies are previously existing member who for some reasons are now back to the forum. So they already gained knowledge or some account can be an alt.
This should not worry you but stir you up to get as much knowledge as you can

... Or perhaps he kind of plagiarized the post you are referring to, with some mild adjustments here and there, in relation to: https://hackernoon.com/what-are-decentralized-applications-dapps-explained-with-examples-7ff8f2c4a460

That's how it all works here, bud.
They know that merits is too hard to obtain here which is why they copy some HQ content from any source and without mentioning it here, they just use it like they created it. It is, infact, a crime in my eyes when we don't give credits to the person whose work we are using here or anywhere else. I am not saying that all newbies do this but many here do it for the sake of getting some merits thrown at their profiles, while those having some extraordinary knowledge in the crypto subject 'like you' start by contributing what you have expertise in and then, rest describes your history.  Smiley

Being a newbie on the forum simply means you are new to the forum. It makes no statement as to your previous experience or how much knowledge you do or not possess about various bitcoin related topics. There are plenty of other resources online you can use to learn about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It is entirely possible to spend months reading the forum and learning without ever posting or without even having an account. I would go so far as to suggest that this is a good thing - if more users did this and spent time reading and learning before posting, the amount of spam would reduce and the quality of discussion would improve.
