Please note that blockchain.info is not like wallets hosted by other providers. Only you have access to the bitcoins in your blockchain.info wallet. The wallet is encrypted in your browser. Blockchain.info only sees the encrypted wallet.

haven't the latest bitfinex saga tought you a eason of some kind? Never keep your coins online, doesn't matter how secure they are they are more targeted and less secure then your desktop or even better an offline computer.

So you feel it is more secure to give control of your bitcoins to somebody else than to control your bitcoins yourself?  And the reason you feel that way is because they require you to prove that you are you twice before they beleive you and let you access your own bitcoins in their system, instead of you knowing that you are you when you access your own bitcoins in your own system?

two-factor is a way to prove to someone else that you are you when you try to access something that they have control over.  Assuming you properly secure your bitcoins against hacking, then you already have 2 factor when you run your own local wallet.  Accessing the bitcoins would require both direct access to the computer (first factor), and knowledge of the password (second factor).


Security is a process, not a destination.

It's not a matter of "secure vs. unsecure".  It's a matter of "more secure vs. less secure".

Blockchain.info is more secure than some options, and less secure than others.

When making security decisions, you also need to consider convenience and cost.


You haven't provided enough information to know why it is unconfirmed.  My best guess is that it was sent with an insufficient fee, but among other things I suppose it's also possible that it has just never been broadcast onto the network.

I had this issue with Multibit several times. I think it is because of a bad internet connection while sending. The transactions is shown in the client as sent but when you look it up on a block explorer the transaction is not existing. It wasn't just not spread with the network. My way to solve it: Close the client and reopen it. Sometime the transaction is vanished so you need to send it again. Sometimes it is shown as sent and it is also noticed on the block explorer.

Hmmm...I click on that "view at blockexplorer.com" button and it says "transaction not found".  I suppose I need to follow up with the guys who tried to send the btc....

Your tx is 38 times larger (9,900 bytes) than the average tx (260 bytes).
I assume you did not pay an appropriate fee for that tx size.

From what I can see, I do not see what your fee was, from that picture.

I have manually typed in the address listed and there are no outgoing txs pending.

Which makes me believe there is no such transaction.
It may have been a double spend that has now been dropped from the network.

Please provide the TXID in a blockexplorer link.

I fixed the link and all the info is there now.  Thanks for replying.

Picture is a bit blurry to see transaction details. Did you specify a regular mining fee when you sent the transaction? Also, how long ago did you send it?

I've decided to empty out my Multibit wallet and move everything to the wallet you create at blockchain.info.  It seems to be more secure with 2-factor authentication and stuff like that...so, please discuss:

1 - is blockchain.info a secure place to store my bitcoins?

2 - how come the transaction below is unconfirmed?  How do I fix that?
