After having repeatedly failed in adopting foreign currencies, including usd, Zimbabwe is now trying to solve problems by issuing bond notes. Why the hell don't they adopt btc??

You think that country that struggles with funding basic good like electricity or fuel, can afford funding
computers on massive scale?
People fight like lions to put food on the table for their kids and now what? "Lets forget bread and water,
lets buy laptop computer"? Its a 3rd word Sad some may even be scared of computers, "they say it eats your soul"...
sad reality is that Africa is doomed to be a continental reservation of wild life (NWO) #tinhaton   Roll Eyes

You're right!

I live on this continent and I am neighbor that country. The President of zimbabwe Robert Mugabe is dictator, if the country is to this crisis is because of Robert Mugabe's dictatorship, imagine a country with dictatorship to access the internet and computers for everyone? give computer and internet to all is the same as giving more freedom of expression, people learn more with Internet access and have more knowledge is dangerous for countries of dictators regimes.

Imagine that the cost of having a mobile phone which doesn't work anywhere costs about one quarter of your monthly income.
The people are poor out there. Real poor.

I think Zimbabawe is lacking a lot of infrasctructure.
I mean they even struggling to have electricity all over the country and for 24 hours a day available.
So the ones with access to the internet will be a very small minority I guess.

I think they have a reason why they didnt adopt it. It is easy to say that adopting of bitcoin will help but i think they have the reason why they didnt adopting it. Many country in the world can adopt bitcoin but why they didnt adopt it? Im wondering that there have a reason.

Hmmm...
"Zimbabwe Names Bitcoin National Currency."  http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-957375
I think it's stuffing, fake.

However, as far as I am aware, Zimbabwe is a poor country, and for the introduction of Bitcoins to install the proper functioning of the system. I mean the internet.

"The more smartphones and the wider the coverage of the Internet on the continent, the greater grows the potential cryptocurrency Bitcoin, because it means a large customer base."

Zimbabwe will likely be on the very latter of countries to adopt Bitcoin, I think 2nd world countries like India will be the next to start embracing cryptos.

Because they'd have to buy bitcoin (with money they don't have), while the cost of issuing bonds is nominal? because no one there will be able to use bitcoin, because no unlimited internet, computers, or even smart phones?
Why would they adopt bitcoin?

Yup. But you need good internet and better machinery to redeem it and maybe a third party service too. Text message bitcoin is a token and not much else.

well, that's the thing, if they pick it up nationally, then there will be no need to change out of it so you can keep all your btc on your phone in tokens.
No?

The more interesting question would be the opposite. Why would Zimbabwe want to adopt Bitcoin?

Please answer this question, the_poet, to shed some more light on the intentions of your thread.

Thank you in advance.

There will never be a country that adopts bitcoin. It just don't add up for their agenda.

If you mean why ain't the population themselves going for it, you gotta obtain it first and then you need smart phones and good internet. African mobile internet seems to be really good in alot of places. I don't know what the smart phone situation is.

Maybe one of reason Zimbabwe can't adopt a bitcoin become their currency is a lack of infrastructure in their country, electronic devices are limited and inadequate, and I don't know does have an internet connection in their country.

bitcoin can not replace fiat in any country completely because people has no knowledge how to use it and not all of them have access to the internet.

I guess bandwidth and technology there are probably really expensive and only available to a minority...
i guess you are right though there could be some organizations that would provide those people with cheap technologies that would be able to have bitcoin wallet in it for using bitcoins

i think that zimbabwe people might start adopting bitcoins in the near future as their country financial situation is not that great, thus they will need to do something about it sooner or later

Bitcoin is an internet currency, to adopt a new currency it should be accessible to the masses is impossible since just 21% of the people there have access to internet

So no way that's going to work for the people.

they are repeatedly failed, so it mean they are unable to manage complicated tasks, and currently a number of major powers have not adopted bitcoin as their national or international currency then how a weaker country can step to there. They first want to see other developed countries using bitcoin.
