You left out one group that would positively be for Gun Control.  Maybe just to divert from their own problem, and maybe just quietly and under the table.

Big Pharma.

Why not do the right thing as a manufacturer? Don't manufacture any guns. Rather, manufacture a single part. Then, get together with those manufacturers who manufacture the other parts (each of them manufacturing a single, different part), and find a good advertiser who will advertise where the buyer can get the parts to assemble himself. Even the assembly instructions could be sold separately.

it would be complicated to discuss gun control, the other side agree with gun control and the other side did not agree. it all comes back to the needed or not needed . there is market demand of course there are manufacturers  Cheesy

This is a big deal, really.

I wonder if there is provable opposition from Big Pharma.

There's a conspiracy that all sides could rally against, were it the case.

It is a big deal.

The Senators simply do not know what they are talking about.

They know. They just spin to fit their agenda.
This^
You would be amazed at how many people are ignorant of the fact that all purchases from gun dealers require a background check by federal law. The myth that some states do not require it is perpetuated by fear mongering media hype like this.

This (bolded) is actually worse than the basic ignorance I proposed.

I don't like the idea of laws proposed based on lies.

Thirteen Democrats sent letter imploring three major firearms dealers to refrain from selling guns without complete and thorough background checks of buyers

Faced with little appetite in the US Congress to strengthen federal gun laws, a group of senators on Tuesday called on firearm dealers to help reduce the scourge of gun violence in America by performing more robust background checks, even when it’s not required by the law.

Their mantra: “No background check, no gun.”

Connecticut senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, along with 11 of their Democratic colleagues, sent a letter urging three large firearms dealers – Cabela’s, EZ Pawn and Bass Pro Shops – to stop allowing for “default sales” and refuse to sell guns without a completed background check. Current federal law includes a loophole that allows gun dealers to complete a sale without any background check, if the check takes longer than 72 hours.

Basically, this is a complete lie.

The 72 hours MEANS ONLY that there is no need for the dealer to call back.  Here is the procedure.

Dealer calls for background check.  Response is yes, no, or wait 72 hours.
The "Wait" is a "maybe," allowing a thorough background check.
The callback is done by the FED if the "maybe" turns to a "No."
Because that is much less frequent than the "maybe" turning to A "YES", it is cheaper and more efficient.

The Senators simply do not know what they are talking about.

If the dealers can lawfully sell guns, by adhering to current regulations, then why should they subject themselves to additional hassles just because the democrats want them to? It seems a mistake to make it into a debate over the "right" thing.

They should be doing the background checks that they're required to do at all times.

But this isn't going to help stop the criminals from getting guns like normal.
