No. Miners cannot find two solutions without running two processes (i.e. two pools). Neither of the blocks were invalid, they simply were not built upon by other miners so those blocks became stale (orphaned).

franky1's answer is the most likely answer for this situation.

This is my speculation as well, but even if only one of those blocks were orphaned/staled, they just lost a full block, $10k+ for having poor communication between their own nodes.

IF it is really is bitfury and not other people just using bitfury details.. it would be their 2+ physical locations.

EG imagine they have 2 locations, iceland and the republc of georgia

well you dont need to imagine it. as its real, they have got more than one location

im pretty sure they dont have the time to change the receiver address reprocess the block and then hash a solution in 38 seconds. so obvious that its 2 locations(pools).

after looking at the receiving addresses of the newly minted coins.
it appears that 1DrK44np3gMKuvcGeFVv9Jk67zodP52eMu has the most hash power as its blocks pop up more often. and there must be more than 2 locations because there are more than 2 receiving addresses for minted coins.

It is possible that that is mis-attributed. There is no guarantee that BitFury produced those blocks, so it is possible that another miner simply produced a block that have the characteristics of a BitFury block but wasn't actually.

Well it can be faked. Any miner could insert that into their Coinbase. Because miners can put whatever they want there, it is not necessarily trustworthy to use that for figuring out who mined a block.

Found this when randomly looking at orphaned blocks data.

Why would BitFury be work on two blocks of the same height? By doing so, if two are found, one of them would certainly be orphaned. In this case, both were.
