Just make sure you have 2fa enabled. It's not 100% safe, but it does make things a lot harder for someone to get onto your exchange wallet. Also, don't keep any coins on the exchange any longer than you need to. Other than that, I try to keep all wallets on something that isn't a Windows pc. What i've been doing here lately with some of the lesser important coins is use the built in Ubuntu terminal in Windows and compiling the coins in that. This is still going through Windows though, so don't keep anything too valuable on there if you go this route. Best bet is to use a machine that isn't used for anything else and compile your wallets on that. If you can't use Linux at all, then an old cheap phone that doesn't get used for anything else will suffice.
