It's not that we don't care about our privacy or we don't want to support the network , and the problem is definitly not on the Blockchain size , but it's on the RAM and CPU taken which is a lot and there is some people that only have  coupe GB of RAM which basically means taking the half of it .

if i have a good internet connection, hardware can run 24/7 also i get 1btc/week i will use bitcoin core
is good to support bitcoin nodes

i solely use the bitcoin core client and before that the qt version for storing my cold wallet coins. the only downside is the slow opening of the client.

I think different wallets suit different people and their needs. The average Joe doesn't really need to use bitcoin core and lite clients are much better for them.

Some people used to call me a paranoid because I was still running Core when a lot of people went for 3rd party wallets that were faster and didn't need the entire blockchain. Well it turns I was right because im still yet to have any problems with Core. Of course I still wish it was faster to download the chain.
