I mean, I can understand their claims. They're just wrong. They'll have to figure it out on their own. But the consensus is generally this: yes, I use it as money; in fact, it has no other use (which is an excellent quality, by the way.)

A currency is a medium of exchange. Paper money is not backed by anything, and it has no real value outside of the fact that people use it to trade. People could be trading with anything. Paper bills. Gold coins. Bottle caps. Bitcoins. At least the value of Bitcoin lies beyond the fact that people use it. Security, anonymity, and transferability make it quite a bit more valuable than any other form of currency to date.
