If you wanted to achieve world domination, what would you do? You would amass a lot of money, or in this case bitcoins, there was also a news article citing that he in one blog post was up till 5 in the morning, reading about how he could 'morph into an alternate dimension.'

Now.. there are hundreds if not thousands and millions of kids, teens and young adults, aven some adults(?) who thinks genuinely whatever they do is the best in the world. And how many people is it not that wants to conquer the world in one way or another? However there's very few people who consistently work hard with a cunning plan over a number of years, like Hitler did to achieve their grandiose plan. Now, I'm not comparing Hitler with Karpeles in any way other than that they might both be very driven to reach a certain goal.

Now, there's been news reports of Karpeles having an IQ of 190, which is a bit hard to believe as Einstein had 160, and Kasparov had 194.

I was thinking that if he really had an IQ of 190, he could actually be a complete criminal mastermind and had us all fooled all along. However, the most realistic thing is that he's a geek that happened to score well and just couldn't manage the business when it grew large, and in addition does fraud or less likely fucked up majorly to lose access to coldest cold storage.

WILD SPECULATION:

But now.. follow me.. If he really wanted world domination and had a very devious plan, what could follow would be this: While running MtGox, he also ran mybitcoin, that site could've probably been set up quite quickly for someone having knowledge of bitcoin and php. Running it would've not been too difficult as it wasn't as complex as a trading engine.

So shut that down and pocket half the profit (49% where later given back to customers).

Now, MT has a lot of coins, and he could launder it and get fiat currency if he wanted. He could then retire and life on a luxury resort the rest of his life with servants

OR he moves to Africa and targets a country with a low GDP, then he starts infiltrating the government with bribes, and those who cannot be bribed are 'exchanged' with loyal representatives.
