So while chatting with my friends on what'sapp group some in USA and some in India, and as you tomorrow is president elect is coming to office. So my Indian friends just suggested since Trump copied Modi (the prime minister of India) line and what if he would declare the $ bill notes invalid, like the Indian pm had done. One reason they cited was to weaken the Mexicans whom he has been against, two to weed out the refugees, just imagine this happening, the btc price will shoot through the sky. Don't you think so.
I'm not finding any possibilities for Trump to copy the recent India's ban on its top currency notes. Moreover India has taken those steps not just for economic reformation. The prime reason would be fight against terrorists.

At the same time I'm not ignoring the benefit bitcoin will be getting if Trump will be just following those banning currencies idea. USA will be having better plan and they will it execute more perfectly than India had done with that.

If he said that he avoid paying taxes, why he would take acts to make that being harder? That have no sense. He will do things so he and his friends will be able to hide their wealth more and pay less taxes as they do so far.  People will applaud to him and pay taxes instead of him.

Trump doesn't have anything to copy and implement following Modi, who always stick to religion and governs supporting particular religion to rise and rule. As a President of USA Trump holds better responsibility and does much better than Modi who have made a Growing Country to lower its growth percentage.

as i said in the early days of Trump winning, he will be good for bitcoin because how he thinks and bitcoin price will go up but it will take some time, it won't happen over night.

also your "Indian friend" should know better that they didn't ban bills, it was bank notes and it was replaced by a new one issued by the bank. the rise was mostly hype and the fact that Indian were interested in bitcoin as an investment.

Trump hasn't got the power to make any dollar bills obsolete. Congress controls money, not the president.

I have no idea why people have gotten such a wrong idea about the powers of the presidency. But in reality Congress has power over all domestic matters, the budget, the currency, domestic law. All the president can do is put tarrifs on foreign goods. He can't even wage war.

I feel that the Trump presidency will at last educate people about the American constitution, with it's checks and balances and power devolved to Congress and the state legislatures. Very few leaders in the world have as little power as the American President, and that was deliberately designed by the Founders.

I don't see banknote demonetisation happening in the USA, not in the foreseeable future. There is literally no excuse US government can use to legitimize move like this.
Furthermore, Trump knows that he is already viewed as controversial figure, he wouldn't want people to remember him as President Who Took Their Money.

I doubt that daywould ever happen. Trump would not make dollar invalid since it is not that weak, and it is considered as base currency of many currency so there's no way trump would ever do that. He might just affect bitcoin's price at some point but not because he will make dollar invalid, but because of other reasons or happenings that will happen in the future.

That would mean mass adoption of BTC, and for this - unfortunately - we're not prepared still. We could see a price increase, but it would crash fastly.

Look at the full blocks. How many Mexicans are there in the US? Several millions. In the case Trump did ban large bills and at the same time charges a high fee for remittances to other countries, they could switch to Bitcoin.

If - let's say - 10 million Mexican immigrants all would use BTC for their monthly transfers to Mexico, then we had at least 2.56 GB more blockchain use per month (10 million persons doing at least 1 transaction  x at least 256 bytes). So 2560 blocks (from the ~4320 created every month) would be full only because of these remittances, and only in the best of all cases - that they don't made any other transactions. If they made only two transactions everyone (e.g. one from the exchange to the own wallet, and one from the wallet to their parents' wallet) the block chain space would not be enough.

Economic Situation is hardly similar in India and USA. India is one of the corrupt country and those steps by modi is to freeze black money because most of the black money will be in the form of cash. In USA most of the people uses credit card and banks so even if $ bill notes get invalid there will be not much panic like in India.

Anyway, I don't think Trump will announce anything like that  Grin

Why would he make the dollar bill notes invalid? As far as I know, the dollar is looking rather strong thus far. USA is not India. USA may have an insane debt problem, but somehow the dollar is still the strongest currency, people are not trying to convert their dollars into something else in panic, at least for now.

In the future sooner or later panic will ensue since USA is facing a debt crisis like we have never seen before, that time it will be the time to go all in on bitcoin.
