I believe that we need a third house to oversee the sale of national assets. This should be elected, and responsible to the people. Ever since Dr Beeching reduced the utility of the railways, and the government squandered the proceeds of asset sales, we have had a continuous policy of asset stripping in both national and local government. We got nothing from the squandered proceeds, and we now have to pay high prices to use the privatised assets. The best way to fund the NHS would be to repurchase the privatised hospitals, and cancel the outsourced services.
