I think alts are in bearish season and will not make much difference after the fork.

I couldn't agree more...  Shocked

Many traders dump their altcoin because of BTG, now the hard fork is over they will definitely buy back cos most of the altcoin is very low and that will definitely pump some altcoin.

It seems to be as ETH pumped today and it's like the rise of ETH for a while. It's happening when bitcoin's price is down the price of alts are increasing.

I don't know what's the reason behind all of these pumps, it's quite odd to me that almost majority of the alt coins are pumping and only bitcoin is being negative during these weeks.

But let's wait for it, there is something that's going to pump after bitcoin's downfall.
Did you read this topic?
Reason for pump & dump is mentioned there. It's the BTC hard fork yesterday

As mentioned before, pump will last for at least 1-2 days. In a few hours Asians get up, which could lead to next pump.
Let's see.

As you can see all have pumped right after work. I entered all shitcoin markets right after the fork happened.

But I am not sure how long this run will be stable, because there will be another fork in November.

Smart people bought altcoins in the deep red zone a couple days ago. Today was a good day for altcoins though. I hope these coming days after the fork will be as good

I think while most of them will dump, it's a good idea to buy the ones more popular at a lower price, then hold and sell after a reasonable period of time.
I'm just talking about this 'after fork pump'. If it's still going on.
Should've read the other comments first, there is the answer:
I guess pump will last for another 1-2 days, as many people didn't even get their BTG yet (e.g. HitBTC).
It's true. I didn't get any BTG on HITBTC.
Guess it will take some time until all BTG are distributed and sold, so maybe pump will last for even more than 1-2 days.

how HITBTC works is just disgusting... they have been negotiating futures of BCG for a few days.. (as they did also with some ICOS (for example CND) as UIO..) i find this some kind of scam and easy money for hitbtc, as they fix a very high price for the BCG at the beginning..  meanwhile some holders of BTC received their BCG and other didnt got a shit. pathetic exchange IMHO.

Da*n it, I missed this opportunity.
There is so much spam, hype and FUD in this board, it's almost impossible to find the few good topics.
Still worth to buy in?

they'll always be an opportunity, go with your gut.  Watch btc/usd it will swing high, that's when i'd start selling off into alts Smiley

The cryptomarket just like every other market will have some ups and downs, This in a long run is healthy for the market. As to wether alt coins will recover? My answer is some good coins will surely survive and even rise in price bout not all of them. They are a lot of useless coins in the market these day.

It seems that alts will definitely recover but probably not to the levels that they were at previously. I expect many to begin to recover later today and tomorrow though, in advance of the fork actually happening.
This is going on, history repeats again like August 1.
Once confirmed, BTG will receive people sell Bitcoin and buy cheap alts. And bitcoin reducing,  alts are rising sharply. I'm not sure alts will recover to the value as before but it will increase sharply.

I think the answer is probably yes. altcoins are already going up now.
Where you see that? It's not true because all of the coin coin get plunged. Many people just interested to earn the bitcoin gold and try to dump it in the future, So can you tell me who is not interesting to get free money from the sky?
What are you talking about? Almost all coins green. Verge +23%, Lisk +8%, Walton +12%, Waves + 10%
Just to mention some examples.

I am wondering if investing back into alt coins after the fork is already too late. In case bitcoin will fall (and BTC gold does not compensate this loss), the best move might have been to transfer your funds from BTC to Altcoins before the fork (actually before the rise we have just witnessed).

What do you think?

Alt coins will surely go up soon. The down trend can’t and won’t last forever. I don’t get why so many people are so pessimistic about it. This is actually a great chance to buy good coins for cheap price.
THese days a time to buy altcoin with its cheap price. So I think after the hard fork altcoins will recover atleast, it will rise. I believe altcoins will pump and we can earn profit for those who believe.

Due to BTC hard fork, most altcoins are decreasing for weeks.
After last forks, people think they can make money. I don't think it's possible this time, but that's not my point.
While market cap remained constant, many people transferred altcoins into BTCs.
Now my question is, do you believe this trend will go into reverse?
I'm quite sure BTC decrease sharply after fork, but will altcoins increase or market cap decrease?
Glad to hear your opinions!

Lots of people earned lots of profit on the bitcoin hardfork. In my opinion, pumping depends on the investors and marketers. I see some of the alt coins are now pumping and the others just chilling on where they are. I hope altcoins pump soon. Grin Grin Grin

Time to buy altcoins !
You are right, everything is lower due to the current market "crash" and coin prices due to all the confusion associated with bitcoin gold.
Using the word "crash" isnt really approriate since altcoins doesnt really go dip to the bottom to say such thing. It did really decrease its prices which is normal indeed specially there an event happening on bitcoin on where related to bitcoin gold. This is indeed the best time to buy on bargains. They will surely pump up after the fork this is why if you do have the money then its the best time to buy some and fill up the bags.

No one really knows on what would happen next after the fork it might be the same or opposite on the things do happen back in the things happened on bitcoin cash but i do really strongly believe that altcoins wont really tend to go down trend forever which we do normally see market prices do really recover later on this is why on these times of dip prices it is really ideal to buy more cheaper coins.

I think many things will change very fast after October 25th. After 25 October, the price of the majority of altcoins will rise rapidly.

Everybody is hoping for the price rise like the last event took place.  Thus it has a one side rally and people made a huge money in that time if they had holded their coins before the hard fork. Lets us see what happen this time.

What hard fork are you referring to? The 25th October one or the November one? Cause the November one is THE hardfork.

In any case, I think now the most alcoins have decreased is the right moment to purchase selected coins. I will certainly invest in some $XLM and also in $LTC  this week. I am confident that altcoins will improve in the future and we will get definitely a profit, but we need to be patient.

This will depend what comes out of the splitting and hardfork. Though many traders or investors did not know that the hardfork and splitting are two different events.  Many people are buying bitcoin now in other to take advantage of free coins that is going to come out of the splitting between bitcoin core and bitcoin gold. If the price of bitcoin core get bullish momentum or get pump after the hardfork then expect altcoins to remain in range and if care is not taking getting more dump. But after the splitting if bitcoin price fall or moving towards bearish market then we would experience pumping of altcoins market.

I think some altcoins will surely rise again and i am planning of making an investment in some altcoins for i can see a higher income with that.

After the hardfork, investors may sell their BTC if the price of BTC will go lower than the price now and may result of investment in altcoins

I personnaly think altcoins would hard pump like crazy after Bitcoin Gold, but this wont last very long
Would be time to take profit and convert to BTC again before next fork
BTC would crash a bit, maybe to 4200 dollars, but would recover fast and he would crush 7k barrier before next fork

Looking at the previously experienced fork, folks now understand that the underlying principles of BTC blockchain is still a primer to other cryptocurrencies. While there isn't a direct relationship between BTC value and other cryptocurrencies, stakes, ICOs and tokens are the real determinants of altcoin values.

Altcoins will be pumped. I think the percentage is around 90%. But not altcoins/USD pair. The price of bitcoin will decrease and the price of altcoins will increase with the pair altcoins/bitcoin. People at the moment do not care about altcoins because the hard forks is more important than anything. People want to receive free coin as well as see how strong bitcoin can be after this hard fork

Just don't expect too much after the fork because we will never know what will happen. What if after the fork, bitcoin won't be that affected like that fork last August. We will just have to wait until the fork happens and it won't happen right away mind you, sometimes it takes a week for the after math of the fork to happen.

This hardfork has been quite profitable for me, I'd say it depends on strategy more as that it rely's on up/down. You need movement in a market to make money, up and down both will do. Also got to snatch some coins that would else be to expensive.

But for your question:
- I believe that some coins might not fully recover
- Think altcoin market cap will see some gains yes.

Basically this. For example, before the last "crash" (china), doge was riding a high wave, sitting at 200 mil $ marketcap. It now sits at half that, even though most alts recovered, at the very least partially. Think hard about buying dips because they might not go up again, at least for a while.

Sorry, but most coins didn't recover, which is due to the upcoming hard fork I guess. So which coins do you mean when you say 'most alts'?
I agree that some coins might not completely recover, but if you buy now, any kind of recovery will result in a profit.

BTW: Should have mentioned that all my altcoins are currently between +100% and + 2,000%, so we are not talking about losses, but about maximizing profits.
Of course I also thought about switching my alts into BTC, but as I don't believe this fork will allow big profits, I didn't.
My question should have been 'Is it a good day to extend your altcoin portfolio?'

I think eventually some altcoins will recover to where they were at. I'm sure this drop will leave some coins down and out though. Just need to be smart and try to pick the winners! Either way it's a good to for some potentially big profits if you make the right moves.

Wouldn't it be wiser to invest in Altcoins before/during the fork. I mean, a few days after the fork, you will be a laggard only following the new trends. In my opinion, this is really about the decision whether you would want Bitcoin Gold OR invest in a cheap Altcoin instead.

If you want to hold out for that long, sure. But demand most likely won't go back up the same unless a market shift. So unless you have enough buy orders to actually move the price 3-5%, just stick with btc.

Wouldn't it be wiser to invest in Altcoins before/during the fork. I mean, a few days after the fork, you will be a laggard only following the new trends. In my opinion, this is really about the decision whether you would want Bitcoin Gold OR invest in a cheap Altcoin instead.
