Cryptocurrency or blockchain can be, maybe already are.
Bitcoin less likely, since its too specific I think.
But then check these: https://goo.gl/k7XAEY, so why not.

Well, it is possible in the future if cryptocurrencies replace fiats. Every government will be interested in employing people who are prepared to work with cryptocurrencies. Creating and maintaining cryptocurrency isn't an easy process as many people think. People working with cryptocurrencies must be good at mathematics and cryptography. It will be interesting to see how big will be the demand for crypto-specialists.
In my opinion, there is little possibility government will fully support cryptocurrencies unless they can control it (centralized). but yeah blockchain programmer will have high demand in the future because in the future everything will be related to blockchain scheme, cryptography, and security.

I do not think that bitcoin will be majoring in college, because now there is a lesson that addresses the basic criptocurency, ie Cryptography and information security courses. In the lesson we explained how basic criptocurency, security, but of course this is very boring to follow.

Not specifically BTC but cryptocurrencies in general. You think it will become a course of study / college degree at some point?

I don't think it will ever come to that. I'm not saying that cryptocurrencies are not complex, we know they are because they are quite recent. Most people don't understand it's value, and have different ideas about them. Some call it a bubble, some say it's the revolution we needed in our financial lives, and regulators still don't know what to do with it.

So a lot of ground needs to be covered here, and we will definitely see some studies and education associated with crypto, and that will probably be held in several Universities and in different areas (economics, law, and why not computer science because of the blockchain, and electronics because of mining, etc, etc.), but I don't think there will ever be a major or a college degree dedicated to crypto. It's study will just be split among all the areas it relates to.

I think there's no need to make bitcoin as one of the offered curriculums in a college or university because if it will happen, how about those people who had no background in bitcoin? In that case, it would be unfair to those people who cannot afford to enroll for such course so for me, it is better if it will not happen. Anyway, the important here in bitcoin is you know how to manage and earn money from it.

I do think so. Currently blockchain technology is already part of the curriculum in certain universities and diplomas, so I wouldn't be surprised if this trend keeps going on.

I think crypto currency and blockchain technology should be major subject in college . I would love teach or guide college students about crypto currency and blockchain technology currently I am doing as much I can
For me this can be a lot of people let say 98% of the population all over the world are satisfied of having and using this kind of digital currency then it may be the time that having this subject in college would be more better. And this kind of currency that are born are being in demand cause in our age the technology that we have is in high so better to have this in the near future.
Like seriously?? Is cypto-currency such a rocket science that it might be needed to be taught in school/college?? I dont think there is need to make it a subject/major in schoo/college. One can learn about it by simply reading and writing on forums like this unless someone is lazy ass.  Cheesy

As a major subject in college? I don't think so, since all of the information they need to learn about cryptocurrencies are readily available all over the internet. It is worth only as a mention maybe, but not as a major subject.

It is quite possible, now in many universities they conduct lectures on blockade and bitcoin technology, in the future it can become a whole discipline, and then a specialty.

There is a big possibility that a major course focused on the blockchain and cryptocurrency can be introduced in the college. which school will it be...that's for us to find out later. There is actually a good amount of interest by many students on this field and I am expecting that soon there will be students who are also into Bitcoin. This trend can be a part of the bigger movement for the legitimization of Bitcoin and its eventual entrance into the mainstream. Coupled with the introduction of CME's futures contracts (which can be the catalyst for some others to introduce the same product), the campus can be the next ground for expansion of Bitcoin.

I believe if ever it is possible, the course name would be cryptocurrencies because like other subject who has a minor part, bitcoib is like that, a fraction of cryptocurrencies. But we all know that most of the teachings would be focused on bitcoin since it is the most successful of all samples.

I don't think so. There is no reason to make it as major study part in college and why would it go to that much high level. May be some subject can be made on bitcoin to understand the digitalisation of the currency and learning the blockchain techonolgy but not the whole course I believe. They have got no reason to make it as major and the first thing would be what you will teach students about? From where you will start the subject and what you will include in it? The coding? The programs of GitHub and open sources of codes? May be about the ICO projects and management? No I don't think so this will help them to learn anything about it. Its all about the individual skills which can be added later on to create successful bitcoin knowledge.

I don't think colleges should have a specific course on BTC but they should have blockchain technology as a major. I guess it is more effective as the technology is gaining momentum fast.

For something to be an academic major you would need to decide what the prescribed and elective courses are needed to successfully complete this major.

Accounting at the Univesity of Marquette requires: Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Communications,Individual Income Taxation, Advanced Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Business Law and then three electives from a list of courses.

What should be the perquisites and electives be for a Bitcoin Major?

I think it's a possible thing in the near future especially in economy colleges. Bitcoin has beacome an important currency in the world and the coming generations have to learn about it in schools as a first in introducing bitcoin to the community.
I really hope that it become a part of courses in sveral countries not only few, to make bitcoin more international as a currency.

I don't think there will be a full course on it, but we are talking about blockchain technology and its effect on cryptocurrencies in one of my classes. I don't think it'll ever be a full class but a major case study at the most. Either way, BTC will make its way into the curriculum one way or another.
