I would recommend cutting your losses. Big money is on crypto 2.0. Bitcoin is outdated and not adapting to real world user demand and expectations.

It could be hyped and manipulated again but it gets harder and harder as the community becomes more aware of bitcoins fundamental flaws.

You never give up pal
I read your response on another thread and I respect it but bitcoin will persist, maybe it needs some fixes and this will happens for sure
Back to the topic,  yes it will rise again

Long time lurker, first time poster. I made a very silly mistake of buying coin at $1160. I use bank transfer which takes days to process, so there was nothing I could do when the collapse started just 2 hours after my purchase. I've also had a fair bit of coin that I bought at 800 months ago. When the price began to dip under 1000, I thought I could just sell the coin I bought for 800 to break even. But I held on expecting a recovery. And now we're at 780. There was a lot of hype on this board which certainly impelled me to buy. But I'm starting to think BTC is unrecoverable at this point. I don't see a rebound. I don't mind holding onto my coins for another 6 months, but if it's just going to drop to 600 and stay there for another 2 years then I might as well sell now. What do you guys think?

I think it will go back up, but it might take a year.

In the meanwhile, you might be able to recoup some of your losses by lending out the bitcoin on Poloniex. The lending rates are about 0.02% a day, which is about 7.5% per annum. Search the forum for more info on how to do this.

This was the question that was asked when BTC crashed down to $200 back from $1k when it reached there for the first time, but BTC proved itself once again and the price, even after falling back to $800 is still not too far from $1000 and as we all know, Bitcoin has always proved that nothing is impossible for it.

I think that if you are willing to wait only for 6 months or so then you better sell now, because previously when btc became $1k+ it then dropped to $200 if you recall. If you can wait for a few years then you better wait. All the panic will vanish, bitcoin will become more popular, more stable and it is likely to cost around $2k, I guess. People slowly learn to trust btc and so they won't make the price become very low. We all know there are many people who wait for the price to drop so that they can buy some. You can help them by selling your sum but I don't think it's worth it.

In my own opinion bitcoin price will be too hard to be on that price again first thing is investors who hold tones of bitcoin start dumping bitcoin price they are really impatient with this kind of activity they think about their selves only in short they're selfish i bought some bitcoin this evening and im still hoping that there will be an miracle happen .
Price will move up again, it'll take some time but we'll see $1000+ again (probably before 2018). if you're holding for long-term the rise or fall in price shouldn't worry you. Roll Eyes

You are already on a loss and there will be no change if you will minimize the loss by doing selling at the current rate. Since you just face the output then why extent it more by still holding the coins you have purchase at $1160. It's just the same since you will buy again at the current rate or should I say waiting for more dip. Just hold and hold and hold and let it idle even it will take years. What you must do now if you have still some extras ammos there is to take advantage of the current dip and plan for another rounds of buying.

Anyways is there any other way/s available in your country to buy coins without using bank transfers? When there is a rally it's not good if all our funds or ammos can't be accessed immediately.

P.S Im not saying you should do that. If Im on your situation that will be the possible actions I will made.

This message reminds me of how people panicked when bitcoin corrected form 30 to 3 US dollars in it's early days. Many sold booking heavy losses. Look where the price is now. I just want to say that you hold on to your bitcoin for the years to come and see the result for your self. You can diversify some bitcoin to projects such as singular dtv and iconomi.

...but if it's just going to drop to 600...

Do not be so pessimistic, if the price drops below $600 I'll be at the loss and this will not be good for me Grin

...What do you guys think?

The price will go up, it can take maybe 3 to 4 months, but it will go up. Bitcoin is a refuge asset as someone said on a site. When governments implement some law and people are not satisfied with this law, they rush to buy bitcoin to avoid losses of your investments and the price of bitcoin goes up. Ha ha ha

Just relax that you'll have the opportunity to see bitcoin grow over $1150

You really are not lucky, but you can at least learn from the mistakes you've done. For the price back to the $ 1000 I do not think it would take up to two years, I predict by the end of this year will return to the Bitcoin price of $ 1000 or maybe more than that or too close to it and it always happens.

Wow you make a mistake, my friend. But it was not a problem and make it a lesson so as not to make mistakes again. Actually, no one knows when bitcoin will rise or fall, it is very difficult to predict. But I'm sure the price will recover and exceed $ 1,000 again, because of fluctuations bitcoin very reasonable. I'm sure the price down not until for years and remain at a low price, surely in a few months the price will go up and back towards $ 1,000. Because now bitcoin has grown and very advanced.

of course, I think this year will reach the price of bitcoin fixed price of $ 1,000. maybe this time bitcoin prices down to very much, but, it will soon become normal again. Well, I also think that the price of $ 1000 is impossible, but we see that the price of bitcoin be higher than $ 1,000. I think, very much chance that will happen, which will make the price of bitcoin back at that price.

if it ever reaches 1000 usd again there will be an incredible resistance point at 1k this time.
people wont be likely to make the same mistake twice and there will be huge sell at that point.
if i had any coins and would sell them once we hit 920-950 again.
i am not expecting a 1k+ end this year actually.

I was really disappointed to see bitcoin drop back to 750s, i expected the fall but not a return to same price that was before the climb. As far as bitcoin reaching $1000 again is concerned then bitcoin will very easily reach 1000, its speculated that bitcoin will even reach $10,000 in next 5 years so 1000 shouldn't too difficult it was already achieved and it can be once again.

I think Bitcoin will reach 1000 again before the end of 2017.  Whales just riding the news in China to bring fear to bitcoin holders, which I think is clever enough to shake weak hands and even moving those people who is beginning to trust Bitcoin.
If you are at a lost it would be wise to hold it if you do not have urgent need of the money.

It is true that due to china news the market got feared and reacted and the weak hands got feared and started to sell but now the price going back to 1000 price will take surely more then 6 months as it has to get back some good news to get positive reaction in the market

We need to remember that huge part of bitcoin price is in our mind. Psychology of the crowd was always the most important factor influencing the price.
So I am quite used to seeing this kind of FUD about bitcoin failing. There is even site called Bitcoin Obituaries where you can read all unfavorable reviews that bitcoin failed and soon will be gone.

Don't believe in this, if bitcoin price is low right now then it means that it is time to buy.

back in 2015 when price was crashing to $200 and even once it went down to $170 everybody were desperate and thinking price can never go up again. i said it back then and i say it again here, it is just a hiccup, a bump on the road. we will get back on the real track soon, as long as regular holders stop giving their money to whales for free or whales feel like their pockets are full enough.

I will buy many bitcoin today. I feel sorry when it does not sell bitcoin in the price of 1100USD.
it was my chance to become rich. This time I will not repeat the mistake back.
It's bad that you missed the great opportunity to sell above the $1000 mark but that's history now. Focus on what you can do right now.

Buying at current prices may still be a risk since we don't know whether or not the panic is out of the market, but I also know that current prices are tempting to buy at.

And uhhh, become rich? How many coins would you have sold in which you would become rich as you have stated? My definition of rich is at least $1,000,000 worth of coins.

BTC in my opinion will reach 1000$ again but it might be long before that happens or it might happen just after the chinese dumping their coins because of their government. For now all you can do is to either hold what you got, and patiently wait for the price to go back above 1000$, or to sell now to cut your losses. Its your call though but if im in your place, i'd rather use that coin in altcoin trading.

It will reach 1000$ again, that is sure. The question is when. They price will not falling forever, just like it's not climbing up forever. People always forget that and always make panic.

It's big money behind the scenes that run this show, so it's in their benefit to make the price pump significantly, and to make it tank again. It hasn't been any different since I started trading in early 2013. If you also consider that Chinese exchanges are heavily involved in the well known mining farms, then you also know that it's in their own benefit to keep the price at certain profitable levels. If it's not by legit demand, these exchanges will offer a helping hand by making the price go up artificially. So don't worry, the price will go back to +$1000 levels again.

I was in the same situation about more than a year ago. The price was going down and everyone was panicking. I decided to take the chance and I bought at $490. I recently sold those coins for $1100 even though I had to wait for more than a year. You will regret selling at a loss, if the price goes back to those levels again. We do not have a crystal ball, but we have seen what happens in the past and in most cases the price goes up to, or even higher than the past.

Hold on for a while, and see what happens. Short term volatility just scare off the people who do not see the bigger picture. ^smile^

this also mean that bitcoin has somehow a centralized market, when you see a whole country determinating its price like nothing

My suggestion is you need to either relax and only check the price of bitcoin once a year, or get out the investment because it makes you too nervous. I'm holding on to my coins because of fundamentals, but it may be a long time before we see another leg up.

Amen.

I buy regularly small amounts of bitcoin, whatever the price.  (ok, I admit having skipped when I saw it booming over $1000, because it was too obvious it would come down again, no point in buying it that high).  With those bitcoins, I buy stuff on the internet.  I never convert them back to fiat.  I don't see it as an "investment", but of course any value increase makes the stuff I buy on the internet cheaper.  I refuse to "trade".  I think that's killing crypto.
As I don't buy much stuff on the internet, I don't need much bitcoins.  The day I can buy that stuff with something like monero, I will convert most of my bitcoins to monero or whatever good anon coin is usable to buy stuff.  And the day that one can buy more stuff on the internet with bitcoin, I'll buy more bitcoin.  But for the moment, I don't see that happening.  Unfortunately.  So I can't do much with large amounts of bitcoin.

I think bitcoin maybe decrease under 600$ in this month and  this is good chance to re-buy bitcoin again. it will reach at least 1,200$ ah the end of this year.  Some bad rumors are coming back from china so it 's down deeply. Just wait for low price and buy it .

it will surely go to $1000 once again. that part is 100% sure. but when, it is never easy to say. and that is the hard part of it all.
i say $1000 is possible because everything points to it being possible. bitcoin has lots of potential, there are lots of people who have not yet adopted bitcoin and when mass adoption happens prices will go to crazy numbers that you can not even imagine today. and always keep in mind that there is a limited supply of bitcoin for the whole wide world.

It is your money so do whatever you want with your money, the problem was not with bitcoin but with your strategy, to buy in the top of a bubble is a mistake that is the moment to sell, when the price reached 1100 holders of bitcoin sold because they had bought at the 500 or the 600 mark.

The short answer? Yes, hodl. The long answer? Unless you spent the rent money to do so, just wait it out.

Woops, those answers are the same. It's not a silly mistake until you sell, and lose money. A good way to invest is buy a little bit regularly. Dollar cost averaging spreads your risk, and spreads the stress!

I don't know how old you are, but {what if} someday BTC is moonshot, and you have to tell your kids/grandkids "Yep, well, I sold my BTC way back then for only $XXXXXXXXX".

You made a non-mistake of buying coin at any price, for 2017.

The surge has happened before, there is no reason it can't happen again. Just don't think that it is not going to recover again. The price always manages to break new highs each year. It just so happened that the price peaked too fast too soon, hence the drop we are seeing now is somewhat expected. Reminds me of when I sold when the price was just over $600 not knowing that we were going for a new high over $1100. You can hold and forget for a while, if you don't need the money yet and just wait till you have recovered your losses and you are already on the green side.

I think we break out downwards now until March/April, just hold your coins if you don't need the cash, perhaps alts will begin to have another run up in the mean time, and you can recover your losses there?
Be careful of bull and bear hype, Bitcoin is going through some serious short term directional changes, so all you should bet on now is maximum confusion, buy the dips and hold if you believe in the value of crypto currency.

DO NOT sell under any circumstances because the moment people think it's going to crash and never recover they'll start selling which is exactly what the manipulators want if you'd ask me, just look at price charts to see how was the price rising 10 days prior to new year and take that as a trusted and reliable reference.

I'm asking from people please stop panic selling your precious bitcoins, you are losing something that some day is valued at $5000 soon.

Rule #1 never listen to kwuckduck, he sold all his coins @10 Dollar and is the forum troll. About the price, it sucks at the moment. If you dont need the money now, I would hold.

It might be happen someday, but i don't see it for now. Because the price of bitcoin keep dropping since last week. I think it will increase again on Chinese New Year, but it's still unpredictable though. The bitcoins price can easily increase and decrease. That's what i hate about bitcoin, can easily manipulated if you have many coins.

nobody knows anything. you shouldn't listen to anyone else when it comes to bitcoin. one of the golden rules is be greedy when everyone else is fearful and vice versa. depends on how fearful you think everyone else is right now.

I would recommend cutting your losses. Big money is on crypto 2.0. Bitcoin is outdated and not adapting to real world user demand and expectations.

It could be hyped and manipulated again but it gets harder and harder as the community becomes more aware of bitcoins fundamental flaws.
