They have to do something drastic to make this work. I say post some demos of this running Windows and/or some other linux distros and they might just make their goal. I only see them going about halfway to their goal at this point.

Funny how barely visible the news "Bloomberg pledged $80,000 towards the campaign" is, even in the zoomed-in graph (http://ubuntu-edge.info/#total). 32M sure is a lot of money...  Tongue

Here, another infographic: http://ubuntu-edge.info/#total

Lookin' grim... Bets are .2 vs 1.05 right now.
That graph is a nice find. Looks like it hit the tipping point of despair ~10 days ago

Canonical's going to need to do a lot of promotions of ever-increasing magnitude to hit that goal.
There's a reddit AMA today http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge?c=activity

...before, we already had the chance to see how many people around here order vaporware Wink

OK I've got a plan:

  • "Leak" the "proof" that Edge does 2 GH/s (secret internal mail by The Shuttleworth himself)
  • Offer a service that enables people to spend BTC on the campaign
  • When the funding goal is reached keep the rest and write fake receipts
  • Have a sock-pupet state that this is a "...legit business" over and over again and silently vanish...

Sounds familiar? It should... Cheesy

Now that the $675 option has sold out, the raised value seems to have pretty much stagnated (or better: at the speed it's rising, I don't think they are going to meet the goal). I'd really like to see this happen, even if for nothing but to show that it's possible. But I can understand, not everyone will impulse-buy a phone anyone is yet to see and which has a estimated delivery time of May 2014.

Too bad the the movebits graph hasn't been updated in a while; does anyone know of something similar (or even something that works for any Indiegogo or Kickstarter project?)

Maybe, if Indiegogo took Bitcoin as a payment method, and they promised some powerful mining ASIC in there... before, we already had the chance to see how many people around here order vaporware Wink

short answer is no... and i def dont want to pay 625 or 675 on a sliding scale as spots are taken for a phone that may not work the way its intended... hopefully it will be released soon to the genpop but untill then i will stand my ground and not be purchasing the idea of a phone! Angry

Well, it's  the biggest crowdfunding project ever, so it get's much attention.
In addition to that it is a very interesting product from developers with a huge fanbase.

That's why I think they will get it!

$5.7 Million, 28 days to go. Movebits http://movebits.net/2013/07/23/ubuntu-edge-funding-level/ shows that 800$ really is too expensive. $600 something seems to be OK with people.

still too expensive, I guess. So my answer is no, they won't make it.

time to rethink, the $625's are already sold out and the campaign is at 4,7... maybe they will make it!

I hope and think they will.

Kinda sad what ubuntu has become (let's blame Mr. Shuttleworth at this point) but the phone specs are certainly awesome.

Canonical has started the allegedly biggest crowd-funding campaign yet on indiegogo http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge. 32 million dollars is what they want to get! Shocked

I made a bet about this on betsofbitco.in http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=1691.

Why did they chose indiegogo over kickstarter? This is gonna be interesting!
