In my opinion, this is a fairly promising coin, but it will not be able to get ahead of bitcoin in 2018. I believe more that ether can beat bitcoin this year.

in your dreams maybe,but in reality never and will never only speculation makes this coin popular but the truth is,this coin will never grow and remains low ranking coin forever.adding this to portfolio is a suicide.

CARDANO is longterm project, and they are not here to manipulate the market, look at their twitter and their public accounts. They have a potential to grow and not to be manipulated like Ripple.

I don't think in 2018, but definitely in 2019. This is a fantastic new blockchain tech that will allow scalability, government compliance without sacrificing privacy or decentralization, and very sophisticated smart contracts. It will take time though. Just look at mainstream investors, you're lucky if they've heard of Ethereum. It will take at least another year before this name becomes more common.

Cardano is an interesting coin and its value continues to increase, but for 2018 cardano can not possibly outperform bitcoin. For the year 2018 bitcoin will remain at the forefront.

I don’t think, that any coin at this time can outperform bitcoin.
May be in future, but I don’t think it will be Cardano, but who knows.

I believe that most of the coin outperform bitcoin. Bitcoin is the genesis cryptocurrency and it can not be as good as other coins. However, people have trusted bitcoin so much and bitcoin needs to have a big value in the world in order for the government to accept other cryptocurrencies

There are a lot of guys in the last weeks that ask for coins that will outperform Bitcoin in 2018. The answer is NO, because Bitcoin will always be the daddy of all coins for the next 5-10 years. Maybe there will come another technology that will be better than the bitcoin technology, but that will take some years!

Yes maybe he point that one but for thinking deeply with it I can ask myself rather on how cardano do it? We all know that Majority of people holds BTC and not all people holds cardano so for this situation theirs no chance for this coin to outperform the bitcoins not unless if bitcoin will totally ban on some huge countries.

as a general rule all the altcoins have the potential to outperform bitcoin in short term because they can easily get pumped and when they get pumped their pumps are going to be HUGE. for example you can easily expect a 5000% rise out of an altcoin with a simple pump, last year proved this to not only be possible but also be an easy thing to do.
Cardano is not an exception here. i kind of like the project itself but i don't have high hops as OP seems to have for this project.

Two things: one, volatility isn't anywhere near ending. And two, Cardano has good roadmap and are almost achieving their next milestone, but just as @jvdp said, market capitalisation is very important. And I would add that bitcoin has the advantage of early starting and has quite the mileage already... for Cardano to catch-up in such a short time frame, more efforts needs to be put into it and thats like working round the clock for the next half decade before they can have the attention of the masses and not worry about price inflation, volatility and regulations. Because their 3rd Gen identity makes people look with so much curiosity and anticipation.

As of today,
BTC is 22,534 times greater than ADA in current price.
Price difference:
ADA: $0.351517 USD
BTC: $7,921.23 USD

24hr Vol:
BTC is currently 12+ times the value of ADA in daily trading volume.
ADA: $734,804,000 USD
BTC: $9,478,720,000 USD

So in prospect, ADA looks great on paper and the dev team are working hard to ensure it's a reality, but practically now and through 2018... the speculation would be faulty because of the wide range of factors.

Cardano will probably outperform Bitcoin in %, but it won't overtake BTC marketcap that is for certain. I am slowly adding more and more Cardano to my portfolio monthly and I can't wait to see this coin be the top.

After reading the roadmap and white paper, I can't believe I didn't hop on this coin as soon as possible.

Once i had to travel 2 hours to get some simple information from a decent libarary.....none of the geniuses then, could imagine you could look things up and jirk off at the same time.

It is impossible in 2018 because already it will reach a top position in the market. But Bitcoin and Ethereum are more valuable than cardano so it is pump in the market. These three coins are decentralised cryptocurrency so how you should predict the potential of cryptocurrency. Everything should be decide in market capitalisation and project development but all are already developed in the market.

Of course, this got the potential to be one of the most popular cryptocurrency definitely a potential to be on top 10. but as to whether it can replace Bitcoin or Ethereum for that matter, I think the people behind the project have to work hard for more time before this can happen. Maybe in 10 years it can be able to clobbered down Bitcoin but by then we don't know if cryptocurrency will survive...it is finding it hard to flourish right now because banks refuse to work with this new industry.
