no! If no media spotlight that shines government, what a difference there will be between people with no media and the public with the state-controlled media?

Citizens do not trust the media. And even if they start to write the truth, it may take a long time until trust is restored. Everyone knows that the media belongs to a representative of authority, therefore can not be trusted

Such a good question.  It depends on what the media will cover but I think government will be effective even if there is no media around.  Though people become negative with its government before.  Here in our country, media is the way to help its people to know things with the corrupt official of the government.  It is a way for people to see the truth behind all the scandals.  It is the way to expose anomalies revolving around a certain government department.  It helps people to see some government officials who uses their powers in wrong way.

But, sometimes, media manipulated the true stories of the government.  They sometimes uses the opposite headlines for people to read their news even if it is not true.  They tend to give people a wrong implication on certain things.  Through this people have negative impacts on their government and make it hard to trust them.

I think if government without media wont be effective, the government need to monitor and supervised the territory, without the media the government supervisor wont be optimal, so media is very important tool for develop and making a better country

To government can have their own news publication and i think that's enough while they also pick which news goes out from the public news media on the TV. Thats just it. The government can run a good country by creating better infrastructure and railroads going to places to make a better country.

what do u think guys. Huh
Well i think that depends on the government .i will example the media and government on my country .
For me no media is not effective because without media how do people know what actually happens in the government what are the issues and accusations . Especially the times when there is a calamities without media there were no government officials to be caught on camera ,there's so many good officials on us when the the camera is on,so sad but true there's a true media to reveal what was going on on that particular situation .but there are more media to cover and giving a wrong statement in short they were slave of money by that group of officials .so without media on us we will don't know the truth about to reveal what really happens.
As of now some media on us are covering the bad doings of the government officials its a very bad thing to know .they just sell tglhe truth for the money in return.

No, Government needs the help of media to be effective, we can see how convenient it is for the Government to get their word out to the people through media, let it be about new rules, laws or announcements, if there is no media then how the hell would that be possible?? I just read someone posting about old times how the kings and dictators have ruled well without media, well that's because they had supreme authority and people had to live without any choice and now times are different, media is important for survival of any government and anyone or any entity who knows how to use media can control the crowd.

I am not going to get into the ill effects of media and how governments can use media to manipulate and control most of it's citizens because everybody is aware of it.

There where times where even newspapers where a thing of the future and I think all the governments where doing fine. Kings, monarchy, dictators and early forms of democracy, socialism and structured societies where working with success. Public knowledge of state doings is not mandatory for it to work in the interest of its people. Is it better to have a little transparency? Sure it is but today's media, IMO are not a guardant of that. All what is important today are news, gossips and scandals. True information is against most politicians interest so... we have informational buzz.

In short my answer to your question is yes.

well i think governments actually need media to be able to function fully. media has a huge effect and influence on everyone's lives. media pretty much is the main source of information for most people, so responsible or irresponsible media is crucial for any government's success or failure

It would be best if the government controls the media after all most of these media networks works for a fee and will publish anything so long as they get paid. There were even news that media extorts politicians and individuals.

The media should be a kind of deterrent to the government. The system of checks and balances, the media should take an important place. It is an independent branch of government. It is impossible to parliament could influence the media. But, unfortunately, at the moment it is not so. And every publishing, television, radio waves belong to this or that political force

The media keep the citizens aware of the actions in Congress and the Administration. But media is here to stay so I think we will never find out these days.

The uk has the BBC which is mostly government controlled. During the Scottish referendum the news was very biased towards staying in the uk since this what what the goverment wanted, all one sided arguments, But come the EU referendum it didnt seem to work quite as well.  Sometimes its hard to imagine how much influence they really have over the general public.

in my opinion NO, the media is manipulated in all manners, for example through professional public relations (PR), and covert and overt government propaganda which disseminates propaganda as news. What are often deemed as credible news sources can often knowingly or unknowingly be pushing political agendas and propaganda. Many different kinds of mass media can simulate transparency. But the dominant medium of political communication in our age – and hence the dominant medium of political transparency – is television. To understand how television simulates transparency, we must understand how television shapes what we see through it. When we use television to understand politics, we see things in the way that television allows them to be seen. At the same time, television creates new forms of political reality that exist because they are seen on television.

I dont think it will effective, the citizens need to know what is the government doing or any project that still being established by the government, in the other hand the government need media to announce news or regulation to the citizens, so without media it will be hard to communicate between the citizen and the government

It really depends on the government. Maybe  if its an honest one and people really sympathize it . it will work perfectly  because the government won't have to manipulate the media.
The media themselves will say a lot of great things for the government.
But if the government is not so trustworthy. i doubt it.
most independent media would just say things against the government to get more views and attention.
thats what i think
