Bitcoin might get adopted, but I doubt Auroracoin will, why would they place themselves under the mercy of a non-citizen who premined at their expense?

Because free coins are still free coins, Bitcoin they'd have nothing to start from and would have to buy someone else's bags with their own money. How can Aurora be "at their expense" when they got them for free?

I remember all the negativity towards Aurora when it first launched, I don't recall any finger-pointing Bitcoin whales offering to airdrop some of their coins around the world to spread adoption...

Pirate Party is a big movement. At least in Europe. Most countries have such Party or at least an non profitable organization. In my country they got in 2014 1.5% votes. what was ofcourse not enough to enter Congress. We will see next elections.

Saying she is one of us is useless unless you are from Iceland. You have one of us in your country also.

What is good to hear is that they already had 3 seats in last seating of Congress. So they are nto new and is less chance voters will get disappointed by them.
Being third strongest party is not really a WIN, but yes i is a pleasant surprise and will encourage similar parties in other countries.

Pirate Party Books Election Victory in Iceland

Quote
The Pirate Party in Iceland booked an important victory in the local parliamentary election today, scoring 14.5% of the total vote. While lower than most polls predicted, it marks the first time that a Pirate Party, anywhere in the world, has a serious shot at taking part in a government coalition.

WIN !

I think it will take some time before Bitcoin is actually adopted as part of a national currency, but this is a right direct for the adoption and this proves that people are indeed tired of the so call establishment

Election on a Saturday? Iceland has to be different about everything!  Smiley

Yes they do. When that banking crash happened in Iceland, not sure which year it was but should be before 2008.  UK that give them most loans asked them to repay. And Iceland answered with vulcano eruption that closed all european airports fro few days.

UK sad give us Cash, Iceland gave them only Ash. Tongue

Politicians will say anything you want to hear before elections.
When they are elected, they must have money for the social programs they had promised or reduce social programs. Bitcoin doesn't solve this problem. If anything, Bitcoin is against social programs because it can't be printed out of thin air. Economic austerity or keeping social programs with usual fiat money printing schemes? These are two choices. Iceland is lucky if its population understands that proliferation of social programs ruins the economy in the long run, but does it really understand this?
