I havent meet the auroracoin at all, and for what i had read above im glad i havent found it, but would be great for those altcoin as well bitcoin to be used at one country, even if there is a big population old, those would be a conquer for bitcoin, as the most users of bitcoin are youngers, and in the real world who has money usually are the oldest people. Conquer them and bitcoin will grow into all the places and companies online and physical.

I'm starting to think there are no bitcoin users in Iceland. I have been trying to give away BTC for almost two months and have had no success. If anyone wants it, it's still available. Just go pick it up or make a deal with someone who can.

How is that still not taken!? My God! It feels like it's Beer ages at this point.

Bitcoin arouses most interest on poor countries and dissatisfied people.

People that aren't happy with their local laws, society and wants some faciilities on their lifes. I believe in Iceland the people live happy and aren't very interested in changing their currency or payment methods...

I don't have anything really against my local currency and don't necessarily disagree with anything going on in my country but I would still much rather use bitcoins because I believe in what they stand for more than a dollar.

That is your idealism, you like what Bitcoin represents. Most part of population of Earth doesn't think this way. What really matters for them is the profit, accessibility... What I'm saying is that poor realms tendsto care more about the bitcoin than realms where people are already happy and accommodated with their lifes. The BTC can represent a possibility of a better life for poorest realms more than represents for the rest of people.

Right now I’m getting bitcoin from signature campaign, but when I really need a bigger amount I  do a face to face trade with someone on local bitcoins or with someone I already know.

There seems to be a push by some parties in Europe to adopt bitcoin, but a part of me thinks its all for the wrong reasons.
I love bitcoin but I also know digital currencies allow governments to rip the finances out of our hands with a flick of the switch.
Lot of left looking parties tend to have some serious control issues when you start to peel back the onion layers.

I know the Green Party here has a environmental platform but you look at anything beyond the enviro image and they become more right leaning than you would expect from a group claiming world peace and hug a tree.

Still does not explain why no one has gone looking at all for the bitcoin. Undecided

Island is very special country with people who have guts. They have shown that few years ago when they ended the dishonest business of the banks. They've also bancrupted and get on their feet again. Regarding all this the success of the Pirate Party doesn't surprise me. But how their policy will reflect on Bitcoin is yet to see.

As far as I know Iceland is the only country who sent criminal banksters to jail!
Jst alone for that this country has my biggest respect.
In terms of Bitcoin, it might have a chance to get pushed more into the mainstream when the pirate party should win the election.
Regarding Auroracoin... come on please forget that shitty scamcoin!

The Iceland has very cheap electricity. They should promote bitcoin mining there and use the bitcoin as well.

The entire population of Iceland is only 323,000, and lots of those will be old. It's the wrong country for a bitcoin breakthrough because there simply arn't enough young tech savvy people to make a difference.

It's true that BTC is not big in Iceland. But the main reason is banking law. They have some strange currency laws that are changing as we speak. That is why I chose Iceland. I wanted to generate local interest with this stunt.
There are actually a lot of tech savvy young people in the capitol and many data farms, including some of the largest bitcoin mines in the world. Reykjavik is a very stylish and hip city with it's own unique fashion and music scene. If they expanded their mining efforts they could also become a major force in mining.

It's the first time I'm hearing about Auroracoin, but if the Pirate Party does come into power and wins more of the votes, which I believe is in a position to happen, then Bitcoin would have a chance to be accepted as a form of currency along side the national fiat currency. This would help the price of Bitcoin even further and boost adoption by local merchants living there. Lets hope for the best!

Auroracoin is a now defunct scam. The whole country coin concept is idiotic, because it disregards the fact that Bitcoin is a currency without border. There is absolutely no intelligent reason to resort to national cryptocurrencies, despite seeking an excuse to create just another scammy altcoin.

The Pirate Party has a socialist agenda. I'm not a fan of their political stance, because they don't value entrepreneurship and true freedom. If their success at the Icelandic election is positive for Bitcoin remains to be seen...
