I was wondering this exact same thing considering I believe it would only work with a FPGA formatted asic?am I right.Wouldn't it be possible if they simply re-did the code to work with S crypt.

ASIC = Application Specific Integrated Circuit. An ASIC for sha256 is designed specifically for that algorithm.

you still need somewhere for the pool to pay to, the same wallet you install on your computer is the "special software" required to solo mine

Yes I understand that but the wallet doesn't have to be installed in the same computer where the mining is taking place, it can be in another computer, am I right?
That's fine. You'd just point it to the local IP address (example 192.168.1.2, or whatever it is), assuming firewall doesn't block the ports needed.

Correct. It's all rather easy to set up. My advise is to pick a coin and then ask the community around that coin for a tutorial, they'll be happy to help you.

yes you will be able to mine other sha256 coins solo or pool
the specific application of these devices is sha256 so scrypt based coins wont work - correct Smiley

To solo mine also? But don't we need specific software installed for each crypto to solo mine them?

Or how it works exactly?

Thanks
there is an Alternate cryptocurrencies forum - might be more appropriate if you want to go deeper.
but basically to solomine you meed the *coind of your chosen chain some hardware and some mining software

But to pool mine no software is needed am I right? only the cgminer and the rest is done by the pool, is it correct?

Hi,

I'm quite new to mining and I would like to understand if it will be possible to mine other cryptos with Knc miners?

The devices will have an embed version of cgminer and they will work like a router (standalone machines).

I may understand that scrypt cryptos and solo mining may not be possible for other cryptos but what about mining other SHA-256 cryptos through a pool (like PPC, TRC. etc.)? Will it be possible?

Thanks
