I think there are a few more promising alts to invest in 2020, but that doesn't say that Monero is a bad coin to invest in.
for now, monero is still a good coin, but coins like steller, dash, BTG, BCH, and many more, some other coins have faster and greater growth compared to monero. however, we all have our calculations and predictions regarding this. Well, Monero is out of my wallet for now

With that said, Monero does look like a strong asset for the long term. As regulators crack down on digital assets and remove all paths to anonymity, cryptocurrencies like Monero become increasingly relevant. However, I wouidn't be surprised to see an outright ban on privacy-coins, which could eventually hinder the growth of Monero as established businesses and companies choose not to interact with the coin or support it.
If privacy is in mind you should not look at the valuation because you said that yourself, the authorities will drive the anonymous coins underground once they start cracking these markets and once they regulate it you will push the market in the dark web and when that happens you will not find many investors for the price to soar as you think but only a certain percentage of people will be using that and it will not help the price to rally in anyway.

Personally, I think we're at least a few years until that is a realistic concern though, so there's still plenty of time for growth. Hopefully, between now and then, Monero evolves into something that cannot be blocked.

Agree! Even if we ignore the invisible stuff like how much development is put into it and how much testing and practical use by a real community, there is one thing difficult to ignore. And this is that Monero is a first mover, that is all there is to it,,, like Bitcoin, it was the first popular use of anonymous/privacy context, and will always be strong for that in long term.

How can we trust

With open source cryptocurrenices you dont need to trust anyone. You verify yourself. All Monero code same as all Bitcoin code is available for everyone to check it. And many people does check it all the time. Same with wallets or any other software. You check the hash it it is correct. If hash dont match then someone modified that software and is not the same as it should be.

It is so simple really.

Oh and Monero in 2020 will be better then Gold.

Until an explanation has been provided on how hackers got access to Monero's official website in the first place, i would be very wary using Monero (especially their downloadable binaries).
Also Monero is just not used all that much with regards to transactions, which means it is failing its primary use case : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-bch-dash-ltc-zec-xmr.html

And last but not least, this is not a good way to boost confidence with investors : https://www.coindesk.com/moneros-fluffypony-steps-down-as-lead-maintainer-of-privacy-coin-project
Monero is the leading private cryptocurrency in this market, but with the information you provided that their website was hacked by hackers, it really confused me. How can we trust this project if they can't secure their site? And maybe in the future their platform could be hacked like that, too dangerous for us to bet on this project.

Yeah, monero is not something new, it has been around for a long time and it has been popular with the miners for a while as well for being so asic resistant as well. In the end monero will always live and will always have some sort of value, not because it is amazing in all of crypto compared to coins like bitcoin or ethereum but because it is the best privacy coin out there.

So, there is a big number of people who like privacy coins and that will always be the best coin for them. Surely there are other privacy coins, hell there must be ones that are better in general as well but none of them will pass it due to fact that monero was there first, just like bitcoin not being the best blockchain right now but still being the best coin out there in market cap value.

Well!! Did you know? One of the altcoin called monero has gained so much popularity in the crypto market, as it is showing the best signs in the market.
Several cryptocurrency experts assume that monero has the ability to show its potential in the crypto market.

According to crypto expert monero price will rise high in the coming days.

Let me know your point of view on this?
Maybe you’re right, I have also seen a few articles that have been mentioned as assets to be considered seriously in 2020 and Monero wasn’t among them.

There are two coins, according to Coin house and some other sites, that are to be considered seriously and the number one is Tezos (XTZ) which is an Ethereum competitor. Although I don’t believe that Tezos will be able to beat ETH, but it will perform very well as it has done in 2019. Apart from Tezos other assets that should be considered are DAI, Cosmos, and Polkadot should be closely examined.

Monero is a good privacy coin but many new privacy coins have surpass monero, these coins have better stealth mode and better privacy features, the best one on my mind is veil coin and Apollo currency which i feel it will do better than old privacy coins
Basically all privacy coins are built for certain advantages and certain things, so between old privacy coins and new privacy coins,
they both have a plus in cryptocurrency.

Yup, at least Monero would be still alive until now because number of tokens do alive in just a beginning unlike Monero that until now it was still work on the market and also have a contribute for the whole crypto currency.

From holding Monero was not risky unlike new token that you've didn't know if it last until longer days.

I think that Monero is a good coin for those people who really a supporter of anonymity, but if you just want to earn on the price increase of this coin, I would not invest in it. Anonymous coins can very often be influenced by the news because they are trying to ban/delist it, etc. if this happens then the price drops.

First off, don't believe everything you read in the news. These sites are designed to spread whatever information will get them the most views, while these articles are often written by people with little to no trading experience, and certainly no degree in finance.

This is just how monero maintains its title as the first privacy coin in cryptocurrency, so that it can still compete with new coins that skyrocket and become a favorite, I think if monero can consider this, it is no longer possible, but it is certain that the monero can return to glory like in the beginning emergence. And I hope monero will again dare to compete and side by side with other coins.

Nevertheless, Monero is one of the oldest coin the market and it has survived the bear market so far. On the plus side it is a privacy coin which I think will have a high regard in the next bull market and it will come because the market moves in cycles.

My personal opinion is that a well-diversified altcoin portfolio is the right way to go on the next bull market, but don't take my advice for good, I am not a financial advisor and this is not a financial advice.

How can anyone trust Monero's Dev Team, when they can't even secure their own official website ?
Thank you for the heads up on this, I did not know this news. But I think, this does not give any effect on the price of Monero.
That is only a website, not just a wallet, the main wallet of them, unless if there are hacking incidents and successfully hacked thousands of Monero's being transferred into another wallet. But so far does not happen. I think I am in favor of Monero compared to XRP, it totally did not makes any sense.

This concerns the official Monero website that provides the binaries of the wallets. The hacker replaced a good wallet binary with malicious wallet binary.

Quote
"Roughly 9 hours after I ran the binary a single transaction drained my wallet of all $7000," the person wrote. "I downloaded the build yesterday around 6pm Pacific time."

Monero was lucky that :

1 : an user found a hash difference in the binaries rather quickly and placed an alert on Github
2 : only one person was affected by the malicious binaries replacement that drained his wallet of his Monero with a wearth of $7000

This all still does not explain how the hacker compromised Monero's official website in the first place. Which is currently my main concern.
Not a word about the analysis that was performed on the closed box / server a month ago by Fluffypony. This means there is no information who exactly was responsible for
Monero's compromised official website and no information whether current security measurements to protect the box / server are sufficient.

Although on the top ten coin I think monero or XMR is not good investment coin because can't moving with higher or lower price, I think better for investing with coin have moving faster higher or lower price like BCH and BSV, look last day how both coin change more than 50% and give much opportunity to get profit faster than other coin.

considering that some of governments are trying to delist privacy coin from exchanges that regulated under them. I don't think monero will be the best investment in 2020. Just give monero more popularity for its capability of becoming true privacy coin then all the government will take action against it.

Not only Monero, I think almost all the privacy cryptocurrencies which are more less true privacy crypto will be a good investment in this year. Monero will lead the privacy cryptocurrency for sure which will bring it to 5x in the bull I think. It has real demand in darkweb also which is a good sign.

I believe in Monero and It’s the best long term hold out there because of it's unique use case. There is nothing else that comes close in terms of full privacy. If you want to get out of Crypto and taxes aren’t your thing, you convert it all to Monero and sell on localmonero and nobody will be able to track anything you did. Further, remember all cryptocurrencies should be understood as long-term speculation. If you believe, as I do, that Monero have a good chance to appreciate rapidly against fiat currencies due to their intrinsic properties, then buy it now.

This year many altcoins can be the best investment! Right now Dash is pumping good, as XMR is the best privacy coin, it's just matter of time for Monero to increase in price! Personally, I am not holding any privacy coins right now, but this year I have a plan to buy XMR and DASH! Bitcoin price looks very positive at this moment, whenever a bull run comes to Bitcoin, that will happen in MONERO too! So, a great year is ahead for the Monero investment!

Can't say about the best one. But it surely is a good crypto to have in your portfolio.
We don't know about where the regulations would go in 2020 and what would be the response of governments towards crypto.
Whatever the situation be, Monero is here to stay. It would even prosper in a restrictive time as it has greater degree of anonymity and if used in correct way, the transactions are untraceable.

I don't think monero will be the best investment of 2020, that is a pretty hard statement to beat anyway.

It will probably be a good investment, I remember the time where Monero was still under 2$ and reading about Monero on this forum, I was sold and started investing in it to.
People here where right about it and it turned about to be a very good investment, the wallet was still very hard to use for a person that didnt know much about pc's, It looked like a simple Ms-Dos window and there werent any advanced wallets out yet.
Now the wallets are more advanced and are easy to use for most people which is a good thing.

I think privacy coins will always have a use, especially with the darkweb markets, and criminals that want to send money in secret.
We will see what monero does in 2020!

I disagree with this point, can you name some of the many privacy coins that have surpass Monero? The only privacy coin outhere that is competing with Monero interms of privacy is Zcash, the rest are jokes. Just look at Beam and Grin recently, the both failed to gain traction. To me Monero is very dark coin  and lack of good marketing team  like that of Dash and Zcash is affecting its price.

Monero used to be one of the best coin when it comes to privacy and honestly Monero and waves got so much of hype at one point of time we thought they will find their spot in top 5 coins but it all vanished and now I don't think Monero stands a chance for comeback due to competitors with similar projects.

Monero will always be a good investment even in bear market it still perform well in terms of trading it. But since there are already plenty of altcoins and many were considered top, we can't tell yet whether it will get again a chance like it did perform. But having it as an investor short term trading and long term holding is what I still consider safer than the other altcoins.

Maybe, because very soon after countries start releasing their digital currencies many will start patronizing privacy coins, few privacy coins are more secured than monero and most darkweb users who want things safe from preying eye uses monero instead of bitcoin

That just describes the the hack itself, it does not describe how hackers got access to Monero's official website / Monero's closed off box.
Which is far more important to know. How did hackers compromised Monero's official website and download servers ? How did they get to Monero's closed-off box ?

decentralized might be a thing in 2020 but from the looks of it, privacy coin does not have a bright future ahead because of strict rules coming from the government. what is the point of using privacy coin if the exchange and the government know how many transactions you are going to make and to whom are you going to send.

Monero is one of the potential coins that I have been holding for months. As for me, it has a huge capability to go more in that future. It has gained the trust of most users and it has shown its potential for years. I believe that it could go far just like other altcoins like Xrp, Ltc, and Eth and I have no doubt of that. Let's hope for the best because I know that monero will never fail us.

Maybe, but it is still entirely in doubtful analysis and I believe Monero still has a community or a supporter, given that some people sometimes maintain privacy. Monero is still needed and the problem is the regulation somewhere. If talking about the best investment, we should switch again to the mother, Bitcoin. Btc I think is less risk than Monero. Bitcoin will soon be in a surge, and is very influential on Alt, like in 2017.

I will give a little opinion about Monero, currently the price of Monero has recovered at $ 57, the same as the price in October 2019, of course investors from that month will be a little relieved because it has returned capital, I think 2020 for monero should break the resistance of $ 63

In 24 hours the price of Monero has reached $ 68 and I think this is quite stable in a month later also the price of Monero touched $ 68 so there is no good increase for this XMR coin.
I am still not sure of the increase in the next few weeks because Monero is very slow when going up there is a market pump going on so it's better to hold a DASH coin than XMR.

Whenever we talk about privacy based coin we recall Monero as it was the first. With its inception from 2014 till today a lot of new better players have emerged in the maket.

Why should I invest in a coin that has not been in the news for good reason? No future development news  basically nothing positive about this coin and you still expect it to rise.

Ofcourse if Bitcoin surges all altcoin will, it is therefore better to invest in Bitcoin before halving or cheap altcoins to gain more profits.

entrusting your opinion to the expert maybe good but you should not trust the funds that exceed your income because investing in private coin is sometimes good but I think also vice versa ,greater a risk and poor market conditions when the blackmarket starts to go crazy and there is a lot of information scattered in your question and IMO listen to what someone wrote which is better if you don't invest in Monero for now

I think it happened a few months ago. Already, some things are forgotten as time goes on, such as a fake update of electrum or binance's hacking. Because people have an interest there, and they should start over to bring another else to binance's level, and nobody wants to waste time with it. Instead, he will ignore all of this and every issue will be solved.

Monero has impressed couple of times and yes again it might shine in upcoming days, but in reality we can't predict as the market is going up and down. Well, if we go with the current price it might pump after some months when the halving happens. I suggest to make investment in this for a better return.

Will Monero increase like BVS with high spikes?
I know that Monero still has popularity in the crypto market to date and some even say that Monero can be one of the most successful mining coins to date.
I also don't know whether the prediction will be right the next few Monero will experience a sharp increase because what I saw yesterday's pumping did not show the best results for Monero, only DASH was good in its increase.
Monero has not had a lot of impressions on me in the past but this coin is still a good choice if you choose to invest in the long term. I think this year this coin can surpass the old price and will definitely bring some profits to investors because the demand for investment in this market is on the rise in the past few days. Depend on each person's thoughts but this is the option not to be missed.

Personally, during the past 2 years I have always considered investing in this coin and often trading when the market goes up because it is a good opportunity for me.

It's how we can say it, one of the best, there are other top coins too. Which one will be the best in 2020 we will see in the end of the year
who made the highest progress of them all! I am with Monero! I am with some other top coins too!

Monero the best and most used privacy coin ever, every new year comes with a big hope for some exceptional coins, MONERO is one of them. I have a big hope that XMR price will be very high in the coming months and from this year XMR can be used more than before, it will get more popularity for various reasons!

Monero is a good privacy coin but many new privacy coins have surpass monero, these coins have better stealth mode and better privacy features, the best one on my mind is veil coin and Apollo currency which i feel it will do better than old privacy coins

Monero's official website got hacked a month ago : https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/11/official-monero-website-is-hacked-to-deliver-currency-stealing-malware/
How can anyone trust Monero's Dev Team, when they can't even secure their own official website ?

Until an explanation has been provided on how hackers got access to Monero's official website in the first place, i would be very wary using Monero (especially their downloadable binaries).
Also Monero is just not used all that much with regards to transactions, which means it is failing its primary use case : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-bch-dash-ltc-zec-xmr.html

And last but not least, this is not a good way to boost confidence with investors : https://www.coindesk.com/moneros-fluffypony-steps-down-as-lead-maintainer-of-privacy-coin-project

Monero is the mother of privacy coins in crypto space and yes it will bring good profit on the long run even with the government hates, one other thing that comes to my mind is ETH 2.0 upgrade, which will introduce POS and ETH miners will be forced to start mining the second most profitable coin to mine which is XMR, get ready for a bigger incoming XMR hashrate
