Even though trump used prohibit bitcoin there, but bitcoin is still there now. The trump period is over, now that the US already has a biden as the leader of the country, the question is, is it possible that the new US is friendly to bitcoin? now there are still 8000 bitcoin atm in us.

Crypto enthusiasts in the US are thinking there is an opportunity. The Biden administration has asked Gary Gensler an ex-Goldman Sachs banker, who is an expert in blockchain technology and who teaches at MIT, to join the team that is focused on Wall Street. The article also mentions that the new administration is expected to seek to introduce innovation with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
You can an interpretation that the Biden administration wanted someone who is an expert in blockchain technology to come up with strict regulation. I do not know the views of Biden regarding cryptocurrency and bitcoin, until you hear from them how they are viewing the current market you can only speculate what they might be doing, hoping he will make things better rather than unwanted regulations.

Trump had negative attitude towards bitcoin
This phrase is misleading and cant find anything to support it. The only comment I knew he made on bitcoin was what anyone or country leader would have said for a speculative and volatile market like cryptocurrency. He does not want to subject the populace to a risky market like cryptocurrency, where most may not even learn the trade and invest on president approval alone. Every investment has its risk like bitcoin but this especially may not be advisable for those that cant take the risk and learn as well.

Whether Biden is friendly to bitcoin or not, bitcoin has come to stay, despite the fact that Trump said he is not a fan of bitcoin in the middle of 2019 I envisaged that his comment will have a negative impact on the price then, the price just experienced a minor dump before the upward resumed, even in the aftermath of the US election the price had continue to wax stronger and pump, when Biden finally assume the mantle of leadership in state I believed that the Status quo remain the same. I am speculating that more adoption of the coin by many US based organizations based on the fact that some of his campaign donors utilized bitcoin.

We cannot guarantee it will be friendly. Still we should hope for the best as the  time is changing rapidly and people adopted to technology more. Bitcoin is one of the digital currency which is decentralised in nature that get people and administration more adaptive towards bitcoin. Hope new Administration should keenly focused on taking bitcoin to next level. New Administration will work towards adopting bitcoin with good numbers in upcoming years.

There is still time for Joe Bidden to prepare how the decisions that will be taken when later inaugurated as president of the United States, will there be an opportunity for bitcoin to become one of the assets that will be considered for Bidden or even bitcoin has a worse fate like the Donald Trump era. We know each president have different change and mind how they will take action will give friendly for bitcoin as currency payment or not. Although have issues with many donation campaign for Joe Bidden become president of United State from bitcoin investor we still waiting how Joe Bidden take respond with bitcoin in his era or president United State.

The election is over, Trump had negative attitude towards bitcoin but what Biden's administration will bring to crypto. The fact that the Fed will continue printing $$ and new stimulus is coming is definitely good for bitcoin.
Never heard that president-elect Biden or someone from his camp made any public statement about bitcoin or crypto-technology, hopefully no tough regulations will be made.
We are not sure if new president Biden will be bitcoin friendly but if he managed to observe the movement of bitcoin, he would realize that bitcoin may help the whole country to maximize its improvement and to have a better financial system. If biden managed to adopt bitcoin, other countries will surely adopt it and it will be a big advantage for all of us and will be a big step for up coming mass adoption. I hope that biden will be one of the reason why whole world will improve.

I don't quite sure if the new administration will be crypto friendly for what I've know most of the government are not in good terms with cryptocurrency due to its volatility and decentralization of it.
We're talking about America here mate and not the whole world so Knowing how The Former President( as he will be replaced soon so it is FORMER) Trump has never been good Towards Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

But having Biden now as i think more appreciative and practical?
maybe at some point we are facing Good administration and good treatment about our market here.

I believe cryptocurrencies will be supported because Democrats are not encouraging the Fed to issue more money. Companies across the US are also gradually accumulating cryptocurrencies, American services accept Bitcoin, banks in the US accept Crypto, Americans tend to be more interested in Crypto and invest more. I think the new administration if Biden is the chairman will favor Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies because at least cryptocurrencies are transparent and everyone benefits from them instead of letting the Fed print money.

No i do not think they will adopt bitcoin because if they do  it will be bad for usd because people will buy bitcoin because of its decentralized fact and volatility and if its used in daily transactions and in economy it will be a great demande on bitcoin which will increase its price compared and usd will lose its strength.

Biden just appointed a former chairman of Commodity Futures Trading Commission Gary Gensler as a leader of financial policy transition team, which is not bad cause he seems to be pro-crypto, he testified before Congress against comparison bitcoin to Ponzi schemes.

Too bad trump lost the election to Biden, although trump never liked bitcoin, and so far have not heard Biden say anything about bitcoin, i believe that hasn't crossed his mind yet, so i guess we just have to wait till he assumes office and see what his administration brings, I just hope it will be good for us bitcoiners, because slowly US are becoming an out cast to crypto, so many platform refrain from distributing crypto to citizens of US, due to their regulation system.
Remember this, none among the US president will ever like to draw an open support for Bitcoin because this will further take away their powers in their confers as world Powers. Biden surrounding himself with probitcoin staffers doesn't mean they will accept this technology opening to their detriment, though they might be friendly as usual but won't opening accept this technology against their dollars. They will look more ways to strengthen their dollars than accepting Bitcoin opening.

I think we have the same situation like when trump elected 4 years ago.
I mean there are some people who claimed as pro-crypto settled in a strategic positions back then but nothing happened after it.
So it could be only a coincidental , or we as a crypto enthusiast overreacted on it which i guess it is we are too excited.
I will not expect too much about this. Time will tell.

I also remember that but later on Trump tweets, he doesn't like BTC. But then anyway, Biden being elected had given a positive effect that it's about to break another resistance. The bullrun is going to happen anyway even if the administration isn't a pro-BTC, this had been overdue since the halving. But if Gary Gensler can help slip some information to make people invest in BTC, it would be good.

Just because president elect Biden hasn't spoke anything about bitcoin we can't state him to be against the cryptocurrency. Once he officially gets into the administration we'll get clarity on the support level for cryptocurrency usage. Somehow the current users will continue using bitcoin even of the government makes some statement against cryptocurrency. Based on his words the market gets manipulated to some level and once again its regular growth proceeds.

I don't think so. Though Biden looks like a reasonable politician, there's a lot of investment by different businesses and media that controls money in US. I don't think these group of aristocrat would embrace crypto and bitcoin as they would be hurting their business. Democrates are famous for their involvement in corruption. Trump did visible corruption when he is in office but when Biden comes, a lot of corruption would occur on a systematic level. I don't have high hopes from US for crypto.

This is a good start, he can help more people to explain bitcoin about what really it is and tell them their big differences. He can start appointing some people on finance department that knows crypto very well. If US will become crypto friendly then I think some countries would start acknowledging it too.

no, it will be exactly the same as the previous one and continue having the indifference attitude towards bitcoin while pretty much the same regulations are forced on any centralized service (such as exchanges) that work with bitcoin.
I also think so, Biden and trump will not be much different in responding to Bitcoin...
many interests are behind the US economy, especially the world bank and IMF. if Biden supports Bitcoin, it means they support the banking system in a major overhaul. just leave them with their dislike of Bitcoin because it is possible that currently, the US is planning to make its own cryptocurrency, following China.

dont really expect that they will have direct stance on crypto or bitcoin. even if for example, biden is pro-bitcoin, he will not give statements that he is supporting it as he will think of the repercussions that it will have on the traditional financial system. but we may see how the laws and regulations will be on his time period.
too early to speculate on how he will handle things here. trump has not conceded yet about the election results. lol

I heard that there was a campaign fund donation for Joe Bidden from bitcoin investors and there might be good news for bitcoin if Joe Bidden was appointed later, but this is just an issue and it is not certain whether or not there is a donor who helps campaign funds for Joe Bidden. from cryptocurrency investors. Moreover, so far Joe Bidden also has not spoken much to the public about his future program after being inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States. Maybe Joe Bidden is still working out how he plans for the future, including whether bitcoin will get a positive response or not in the United States with his presence. new president Joe Bidden.

Maybe there's a changes that might occur as people are now familiar with bitcoin in US. I'm hoping that Biden will take some actions and put some attention into cryptocurrency and economy in their country. Trump really have a much better influence in cryptocurrency and I don't think that Biden will prioritize it that much. We all know that the US economy is struggling due to the pandemic especially that unemployment increases in Trump administration. Hopefully, this election is the way for cryptocurrency to become known more in their country and I believe that this is the season for it.

I think it will be the same. All I know right now is that the newly elected president just created a task force that would help him fight this pandemic and free the country as they are one of the countries with the most cases. They would be focussed on other things too and I think bitcoin and crypto currencies would not be that different in the past.
I hope that what the president-formed team is doing can be achieved because as far as I know the US country is very difficult to manage because they are used to freedom, therefore hopefully what the president creates can suppress the spread of the virus.

This same question i have in mind mate, though it is trump being open not supporting Bitcoin yet i think that it is too early to talk or expect from the new administration.
but let us not lose hope that Biden administration will support and allow the use of crypto Specially bitcoin to lead the adoption worldwide at last.
And also will open many areas not just PayPal but Amazon as well to accept bitcoin directly.
As much i know their wont be much change in the bitcoin for US ya but it can be that he may give some soft norms on bitcoin usage but still will keep more regulation for the security of the users.
Security regulation is a must, but at least lessen the restrictions for the community.

No matter who won the election for the president, it won't change the fact that they would not be friendly to bitcoin because they are in a centralized system and they won't even encourage their citizen to try cryptocurrency or decentralized system but I think eventually they will someday in future because as we all know this country has the most number of the crypto machine all over the world so meaning to say many people are using cryptocurrency in their area.

difficult to say whether the new US administration will be friendly to Bitcoin. Trump has always worked against it but no one can say what he will do now that Biden has been elected new president. But if Bitcoin is friendly, it will double the demand for crypto. Although the epidemic has had a negative impact on everything there is no problem with Bitcoin many countries will support Bitcoin to return to normal. the US administration helps the high demand for Bitcoin will increase along with the dollar.

I doubt that any US president will ever support Bitcoin directly and in whole because they knew that Bitcoin will always interfere Dollar price and threaten their Currency eventually.
I think there might be changes in Biden administration but will not totally open the door for cryptocurrencies.
This is very hard to tell at this moment. Handling pandemic and crysis will definitely be priorities and from the past I don't remember that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were in Biden's focus.
We'll with time how the situation will develope but I don't expect to see some revolutionary changes in attitude towards Bitcoin.

He'd be more nods from the crypto community who are going to be wealthy citizens in US in the future if he is more friendly to crypto.  But Biden is more aggressive than Trump, I think he really will enforce human rights to other countries as he already expressed it earlier.

Once he sends troops outside, that will change Bitcoin positively. For now consider him friendly  Cheesy

People.... let's be real for one moment. Everything that happens before an election is totally "bullshite" ....  They make a lot of empty promises and most of those promises comes to nothing in the end.

During the previous election process when Trump was still not President of the USA, he surrounded himself with key people who had Bitcoin interests and most of us thought they would push the Bitcoin agenda when Trump won the election. This did not happen, because these people sat in board meetings with other people who did not support their views and Donald Trump over ruled all their personal agendas.

They will basically say anything to get into power and then they will flip to fit whatever is asked of them to get those positions and the salary and perks that comes with that position.  Roll Eyes

they don't need to be "crypto friendly" so I will surprise if a big change will happens. Ross Ulbricht condone? it seems something more probably, but I am pretty sure nothing will change even with a new president/administration.
What Made sure mate that nothing will change even if there is a new administration?i know that Trump is openly hating or not believing Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies but what about if Biden replaced him soon?
maybe at least there will be a change that may come right?

Anyway it is early to predict mate because there was not even a conceding happening up to Now even that electoral votes favored Biden already.

No official announcement was being mention because we know that we are in pandemic and that the new administration will going to focus on. I know how much we missed the old normal where we can freely made more fun in a safety and secure environment.
Yeah, that is right. The government now needs focus to solve the pandemic by having the vaccine from the health companies to cure people. We need to give them time to work with a serious problem in that country. Hopefully, after the situations can handle by them, and they can cure many people of the virus, they will discuss with the other officials about crypto. And hopefully, they will accept crypto and make regulations so people can use the crypto without any problem.

I am sure Biden has many works that need to do, and that is not just to think about regulations for crypto. We need to wait for more and see what they will do with the crypto.

Establishment politicians will always be opposed to the idea of a decentralized cryptocurrency. Party allegiance to either the Republican or Democrat parties doesn't make much difference here. Pro-cryptocurrency leaning can be expected only from Libertarian wing of the GOP, which comprises of people such as Rand Paul. I expected Trump to be more pro-Bitcoin (since he is not part of the establishment), but he disappointed me.

It is really hard to say but I think that Trump is better for the cryptocurrency while Biden is not that familiar into the use of cryptocurrency in US.
i seriously doubt that either one of these old men in their 70s even know what a cryptocurrency is, or have any more knowledge other than maybe a footnote in a memo they were handed. Smiley

Since Trump's administration is completely against or not supporting Bitcoin in their time i wish that this will be the opposite in Biden's administration.
And also i want to look in the brighter side because the new administration is yet to release their outlooks in many things specially in economic policy in which will surely affect crypto market.

I see Biden's have an opposite outlook on crypto than Trump has.

Quote
Finally, the crypto space and Biden’s followers both expect good implications for the cryptos and blockchain in the country. However, any of Biden’s move has till now not manifest any negative crypto signals, but establishing a positive approach would be rather too early as of now.

Feel to read the full article: https://coinpedia.org/news/crypto-regulations-joe-bidens-priority/

With Biden's leadership, I see more adoption to take and people confidently using it as become one of the major currencies used globally. The statement and speculated information is just coming from their supporters but I believe that this is possibly true and come to reality.

Regulation and taxes can't be ignored actually but ain't a problem if the government will ask fairly and for the benefits of everyone, not only the rulers and leaders which I never thought Biden can do this.

The american's election isn't over yet, so it's still not possible to say who is the elected president.
But as you are looking for an opinion regards an hypothetical Biden administration on bitcoin I think it's clear what socialists do towards third parties money: raise taxations, create regulations, impose bureaucracy.
Not good for bitcoin, neither for its adopters.

After all, democrats have a huge militancy to feed with public money (taken from tax payers) through their *empathetic*, *humanistic* government politics.

But don't get angry: more taxes, regulations and bureaucracy are always for a good reason. They are healing the country! Just put the mask on and you will feel better about giving your money away. Cheesy

It is too early to assume about how it’s going it be, but whatever it is, there is still going to be progress. Even during the time of Trump as the US president, despite he doesn’t like Bitcoin there were still improvement and US is one of the countries where there is huge advancement for cryptocurrency (especially for BTC). Let’s give this guy sometime and see what he’s going to be like, whether he’s going to like the technology or reject it.

But, as usual we are going to be hoping for what’s the best. I hope they don’t place regulations that will be strict for exchanges. When there is strict regulations and things are tough for exchanges, they will have no other option than to relocate their headquarters.

no, it will be exactly the same as the previous one and continue having the indifference attitude towards bitcoin while pretty much the same regulations are forced on any centralized service (such as exchanges) that work with bitcoin.

i wouldn't call the trump administration's attitude "indifferent". last year, they pushed the FATF to implement much harsher requirements on cryptocurrency ($1000 reporting thresholds) than those that apply to fiat currency. trump himself said he dislikes bitcoin. not to mention the harsh, new FINCEN regulations his administration published last year.

i expect this trend of increasingly rigid and burdensome regulations to continue under biden. in fact, it'll probably be worse than under trump, as @theymos rightly points out:

Long-term, a Biden presidency is probably somewhat worse for Bitcoin, since his administration will be more anti-Bitcoin and will be much more likely to put forward harmful regulations. (Not that Trump is super pro-Bitcoin or anything...) I wouldn't expect these sorts of long-term predicted effects to cause much shorter-term price action, though, other than maybe a very-short-term panic crash.

I think Joe Biden is a man of wisdom who will really understand what the citizens want and what they don't want in the country. During 4 years Trump spend in the white house really do so many things to improve bitcoin in the country.
Joe Biden who just won the 2020 presidential election where he scored 285 to defeated his incumbent Donald Trump who scored 214.
Joe Biden will do everything possible to improve the economy of the country and also create convenience place for all bitcoin users in the country.

If Trump has a negative attitude toward bitcoin, we expect the Biden administration will issue a pro-bitcoin policy, which Biden likely won’t issue as much fiscal policy as Trump so the price of bitcoin and crypto assets would be good if a fiscal policy was a little bit. There will be many banks launching crypto assets in the coming years. Thus, crypto assets such as bitcoin are becoming increasingly popular. But with no USA policy, bitcoin prices will be optimistic about increasing. This time crypto assets became the main choice because it overvalued other investment assets.

I doubt that the next President will look after bitcoin. Even Trump does not even mention Bitcoin during his 4-years term. Just try to swallow the fact that the government does not want to involve with bitcoin. They only consider it as an asset which can be taxed if the regulations and laws are strict enough. But the good news is, as long as they remain neutral to bitcoin, we can still earn and make money from this digital gold

The decentralization is not an issue to the US president. They have many other problems to keep their eye off such as the economy, the politic, the central banks and the CHINA (lol). Moreover, even when strict laws are imposed on bitcoin, it will be a tough task for the police to keep tracing people who utilize and benefit bitcoin cause of the high anonymity and low transparency. So, dont worry about who will be come the next president. Try to have fun with your bitcoin while you can Roll Eyes

I don't think that there will be a huge changes towards bitcoin or cryptocurrency when Biden won this election.

It is really hard to say but I think that Trump is better for the cryptocurrency while Biden is not that familiar into the use of cryptocurrency in US.

But I'm hoping that they are also concern about bitcoin and other cryptocurrency because I know that it is one of the possible ways to help economy grow and recover. Continuous growth of bitcoin should happen in US and I believe that it is not impossible to happen since we are in a pandemic.

Not your keys, not your coins!
The US has many problems to be fixed and bitcoin, crypto are not their priorities. Pandemic, vaccination, unemployment, conflict of politics and interests nationwide. All of those need the new government to step in with their time, energy and efforts to fix as fast as possible. I don't believe the new government can finish it in short time and even doubt that they can fix it too soon.

The market for bitcoin and crypto is too small and government don't mind about it much. If there are something with money laundering, they will be caught by police and funds will be seized. That's all will probably happen.

it is too early to tell what will the president-elect do interms of crypto but i have the feeling that his administration will be lot less strict and open to suggestions on the best approach to take regarding crypto, there will be positive change in this administration because Bidden wouldn't want to take the part of his predecessor, much anticipation in this administration right some of the wrongs.

Well, that was just I thought. I'm not sure if Biden will act differently as Trump started its war against Bitcoin before. This influential country means a lot to crypto and if they are able to support crypto development, might seeing high demand and changing the trend completely..

Well,Biden and the democrats are leftists,so the taxes(including the taxes over our cryptocurrency profits) might go up.This is the only negative impact over the crypto industry I can think off.
Other than that,I don't believe that the Biden administration is going to be overall negative or positive towards Bitcoin and the altcoins.Maybe the regulations ,like KYC,will become more strict and the crypto enthusiasts will have to abide by new rules ,like proof of income source and proof of address, but I don't think that Biden will ban the crypto industry.

I think it's too early to speculate about it, for now, let us wait until President-elect Joe Biden assumes office, for now, let us enjoy the Bitcoin bullish market trend, and when the right time will come and Biden will say about his stance on cryptocurrency whether its pro or against, I believe it wouldn't create much impact to the market, The real problem will be the SEC for sure the crackdown and tougher regulation will continue even in the new administration.

I do not think that he will have a positive or negative attitude towards cryptocurrencies... In general, governments of any country do not approve of decentralization, the United States is no exception...

dont underestimate him. he will have his own research staff take care of that, whether crypto will be beneficial or not to the govt. right now, we dont know his stance towards crypto and doubt that we will ever get his clear disposition towards this matter. i guess, he wont give transparent position on this aspect
but it will show how laws and regulations in crypto will move once he's already in position.
right now, its too early to tell his approach on crypto. but in any case, btc and other alts will still continue to thrive as it is independent of the politics

Let's see what happened to bitcoin and Biden and the new US government.
because some members of the Biden campaign team are crypto enthusiasts and Joe Biden's statement that he doesn't own Bitcoin has been perceived by many as somewhat cold, and this is why the first point of the call is to hire the right person for the job.
we have to see the continuation and hopefully bitcoin will continue to grow for the better with the new government, sometimes plans can change.

Joe Biden himself didn't say anything important to show how he would react to bitcoin, so we need to wait for him. In the other hand the regulations are same as the government of Trump so nothing would change during this time. But, between the friends of Joe Biden and people near to him whom will get important decision in the future, there are many bitcoin friendly people. Also, after the winning of Biden the price was rising and this will show us another positive sign.

I doubt that, no US presidency will be probitcoin. They know they'll lose it all the moment they start showing public approval of the new currency. All the US government is concerned about is strengthening the US dollars therefore them publicly accepting bitcoin would be doing exactly the opposite.

The speculations were that the market will dump if trump was to lose and that's exactly what we experiencing in the last 24/36 hours. The dump isn't because trump was practising a probitcoin government and would be missed but because there are speculations of the presidency of Biden been more antibitcoin than what trump was.

There are more serious concern on US rather than Bitcoin regulation, so i doubt new US administration will be more friendly to Bitcoin or even bother with it.
We also don't know whether new US administration will be more friendly to another aspect (which related to Bitcoin) such as privacy, anonymity, security and decentralization.

Looks like you have a lot to read and see news about Biden.
This makes you calm a little about how Biden & Bitcoin behaves.

If you checked United States Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s Twitter account on July 15, you would’ve seen a rather surprising message from the former Vice President. Not only was his account tweeting about Bitcoin, it offered to double any amount sent to the specified account within 30 minutes as a way of “giving back to the community.”

Even if there will be a new president I really don't think they would be friendly to Bitcoin. Most of the government wanted to make it centralized which really contradicts to the decentralized we have, but we might not know soon they will be accepted by the world.

I don’t have Bitcoin, and I’ll never ask you to send me any. But if you want to chip in to help make Donald Trump a one-term President, you can do that here.
Who knows if some bitcoiners actually donated to his campaign? That would have a good impact on him.

In any case, some people are saying that some of his would be cabinet members are familiar with cryptocurrencies so that could be either good or maybe bad to some. Crypto in US will probably be more regulated than before and there could be more changes on tax policies.

Yes, like Sam Bankman-Fried who runs FTX exchange, reported to have donated more than $5 million to Biden cause.

https://decrypt.co/47292/one-of-joe-bidens-biggest-donors-runs-a-cryptocurrency-exchange

But then again, when Trump won the US Election in 2016, everyone was hopeful that there will be a change in the air as he surrounded himself with staff and advisors that are supposedly pro bitcoin, but nothing had happen in the 4 years he has been in office, but regulations from different governing US bodies.

no, it will be exactly the same as the previous one and continue having the indifference attitude towards bitcoin while pretty much the same regulations are forced on any centralized service (such as exchanges) that work with bitcoin.
I think US is friendly with bitcoin to an extent, like now, there are over 8000 bitcoin ATMs in US, and also there are many crypto exchanges operating in US. But, what you meant about the regulation is true, but the same regulation is required while using fiats. We all know US to be the master of privacy invader, what we do not like as it is also a means of scam infiltration.
