If I search for a coin the next ETH, I think it's NEO. NEO brings together elements that can compete on an equal footing with ETH, including the huge supporters from China, the technology platform that will enable ICO projects to grow on their own. These are the factors that NEO can replace ETH in the near future. I think 2018 will be the year that NEO is developing very strongly.
I completely agree with you, that is why I am slowly accumulating more NEO for long term hold.
Looking at the trend here https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/neo/, it will give you confidence as it started from less than a dollar
until it reaches a good price now, I can say there are a lot of holders for NEO as you can see on its volume.

Ethereum is facing a lot of competition from platforms like EOS, NEM, NXT, Lisk, Waves, NEO, Stratis, Chainlink, DragonChain and others.  The playing field is very competitive, but Ethereum has a clear advantage in usage and community.  Do you think these other projects stand a chance?  If so, which ones?

Ethereum is next bitcoin, after bitcoin in the second position is ethereum. another coins will be in the 3rd position after ethereum and my prediction is NEO. Ethereum and NEO is growing fast and the value increase fast than other coins. So better if we already invest in bitcoin and we can do invest again in ethereum. I have some experience invest in ethereum, after 6 month later the profit so high.

Out of all the alternatives you mentioned, EOS seriously has the potential to displace Ethereum. The biggest advantage that EOS gives is instant transactions, which are really required in DAPPs that aim to go global with millions of members transacting at the same time. ETH is just not ready for that kind of volume, at least for next 2-3 years. Dan Larimer is the head of EOS, and he has already delivered two solid products, that is Bitshares (a decentralized exchange) and Steemit (many call it the Facebook killer on blockchain). So yes, he surely has the experience and more importantly the resources, to deliver a good alternative to Ethereum, if not better. Other than EOS, NEO might work; but rest are the ones on which I won't bet much.

There's alot of coins that can be the next Ethereum or even replace BTC which will be difficult because BTC has the biggest volume and cap in the crypto currencies that's why it's so expensive and that will not be a easy task for a coin.

I dont see any coins that can become threat for eth, eth got it's own unique feature that has proven reliable and very useful, and a lot of coin developers also more believe in using eth for smart contract, so I dont see any of that coin that could replace the eth yet, and with that huge amount of transactions volume I think eth wont be that easy to be replaced

as long as the platform or more specifically the coin, have actual real life use, it will be successful.
Real life usage will bring that new coin to be more competitive inside the crypto industry, I'm sure as we all matured with this investment/currency system, we are all built with experience and while time passing by we are also learning from the past, this new coin that will be introduce needs to be more precise and ambitious in sense of making more friendly and easy to use yet very secured for our investment.

I don't know. That is a very tricky question, and it's impossible to answer. It's the same thing with bitcoin and other "currency" coins, like dash, litecoin, monero, zcash, etc. There is a "king" for the payment method goal, that is bitcoin, and there is a "king" for the platform for crypto startups that is ethereum. Both of them have the advantage of being the first, and now have the largest community around them (investors, supports, developers, miners, etc). So one of these "new" coins would have to be truly amazing to take their place. There is to much at risk right now, so unless something truly advanced shows up, or these two will always stay ahead.

That's deeply convincing and good way to state the purpose in first place. The main purpose is what defines about the coin and there is no need to place any of them in the first place or to state that this coin would be Ethereum or that would be next Bitcoin because that doesn't make any sense if we think about the prupsoe for which each coin has been formed. I mean obviously they are always king in the field or sector for which they were made! They are unique in their own ways and I believe they should be seen like that only.

It doesn't matter what prices they carry, what they have is what interests people more.

Waves would be my bet on this one.

They are similar to ETH and they have their own decentralized trading platform, wallet, and other services developed by the coin's own developer. I think it just needs more support to get traction and it will likely go as high up as ETH.

EOS is the best one out of all the coins , the most important thing for a coin is to get listed on major exchanges so that the price can rise if they announce any partnership or important upgrade and eos already has that , it has enough funds as well if it's manage properly it can become one of the top coins easily

Of all the competitors, I think that EOS has the best likelihood of stealing massive market share from Ethereum.  In addition to having an incredible community of supporters and listing on major exchanges, EOS has deep funding for development.  They have an army of developers, so I think they will achieve their vision.

NEO is my personal favourite in the etherium killer contest. ADA EOS are very raw potential competition
NEO current price is $132.19 USD (-7.71%) according to coinmarketcap.com on this time. For me this is quite far to be next ethereum, maybe in china but not in the whole world. XRP has a potential than NEO, as you see it, it always count on the top five promising crypto currency. That's why XRP have one step ahead to NEO. I'm not saying that NEO is a bad token.

In the cryptos listed, I find NEO most likely because it is now considered Ethereum of China. Also, the crypto will be supported by the government so the crypto will overgrow in the future, which is undeniable.

I think the two main contenders are NEO and EOS.

NEO have the Chinese community and are gaining new ICO's every week.
EOS gained the Bitfinex support recently, to start a decentralized exchange. Other will follow.

There's a lot of good coins and compititors of ethereum in the market. But still ethereum are most useable and most accepted by the people because of it's uses. And i think, even a lot of coins out there, ethereum is still at the top of them as an altcoins.

As of now theres no one new coins can beat the ethereum in terms of price value, popularity, and usefulness in the exchange market because this is the only altcoins that an ERC20,that can be useful in any kind of transaction in the blockchain.actually there's so many kind of altcoins now going out in the exchange that having potential to grow, but as of now they cannot beat ethereum next to bitcoin in rank of all altcoins, because of having some issues now of bitcoins flexibilty into the crypto world.

This is Cryptocurrencies, the struggle to turn out as the best is always high. Bit ethereum stands a better chance out of the rest. Ethereum forms a base for most of these tokens and it is very difficult for any other token to outrun ethereum. Even if we might see another altcoin rising up to the status of ethereum, but for now, ethereum still remains the most adopted and accepted.

NEO is a direct competitor and I feel when the Asian market picks up it will slowly creep up on Ethereum and take over. I also have a strong interest towards ICON from South Korea. Asia will stick to there own coins and they will succeed in driving them up the market

Neo is fairly popular i think it has chance to go long way. on other hand waves is an excellent platform, it also promising. it doesn't yet have smart contracts but will soon and couple of other things are on the roadmap, it could really explode(i hoard couple of waves Cheesy).

It's the similar question like if Bitcoin will be replaced by another coin and wich one will become a new Bitcoin.
My answer for both is that they don't have serious competition . And it's not only the price that counts and makes the difference.
New coins and projects appear all the time and although NEO seems to have good perspective I don't think that is a threath to Ethereum.

Presently, I think NEO highly hyped but I will go with the underdog Waves to surprise the crypto community.

If Chinese were to open gates to crypto traders then NEO will definitly be the ethereum of asia. Currently cryptosphere in china is being dull but we can say for sure after dust settles.
I totally agree with you. NEO can be the next ethereum. It is already giving good competition to Ethereum. But it would take some time.

I think NEO has the advantage to any other coin so for me its a battle between ETH and NEO. If we can still see a lot of scam on ETH coin, I think NEO will replace him specially when Chinese people support this coin. The level of competition are getting more intense, those who continue to improve its system will be ahead from any other coin.

Ethereum is by no means the only growing player;  a number of new crypto-currencies with their own unique protocols can take the place of Ethereum.  One of them is NEM (an increase of 28,000% since the beginning of last year, the sixth place in terms of capitalization). The first and most important property of NEM and the system of Smart Asset - they allow the organization to customize the blockchain in accordance with business needs. Blockchain NEM is designed in such a way that  simplify its connection to the existing infrastructure.

I always go with NEO. Because there is lots of feasibility to compete NEO with Ethereum. NEO is china base crypto currency. I have read one article, In 2018 many ICO project going to use NEO. I hope after 1 year it may be next to BTC.

NEO is their actual competitor buddy even the butterin who is the founder ethereum also mentioned on the press says they are perfectly giving competition to them. However none of the project can completely competite them and cannot reach level they bump up.
How we take bitcoin in first level when there is lots of crypto currencies. Same like that in smart contract side ethereum are the first one.

Ethereum indeed is facing lots of competition right now but saying that within this competition you may find next ethereum is totally wrong. These coins are performing and showing progress because the market is also progressing.Bitcoin is improving and market is stable so they are performing well as none of these coins  had done well or even survived the crash but ethereum did it with grace.I am not telling that they are bad coins but comparing them with ethereum or even thinking that they can replace it is very early and very wrong.

EOS is know as Ethereum Killer and the Blockchain 3.0 that solves scalability issues. One of the Sample is Steemit and the upcoming Everipedia (an decentralized encylopedia). So i think that EOS blockchain will be fastest blockchain solution that can compete with the speed of Visa transactions.

Thank god you did not say anything about the XRP as being next ETH because it is not and it will never be one. Just wanted to point it out nothing else.

Rest of the list you have made is promising, and when we say next ETH I am sure you are predicting the spiked prices upto 1K or something for these coins. In your list I am having hopes from the NEM, NEO and one of the coin which is not in your list and neither it is fully developed but still promising named as SCL. These are top 3 coins in my watchlist as next ETH in terms of their prices, market cap and development prospects.  Cheesy

Not only Ethereum but I guess almost all the top moat cryptocurrencies are facing competition these days. There are many prompting altcoins/tokens out there with good potential to spike up in the future. So rather than considering any of them as the next Ethereum consider it as the new coin itself which might take the place of ETH.
Although I don't think that will happen because ETH has better chances to stay in that position, its still possible.

Ethereum doesn't have any competitors for now and everyone who tries to say that it does is simply wrong. Coins mentioned above will become real competitors to ETH only when people will start making ICOs on their platforms. Untill then their speculative price growth is based on nothing and there is no competition at all. It doesn;t mean that those coins won't grow in price but it still not creating a competition.

Every coin has the same chance to become the " next " Ethereum because Bitcoin too far away. As long they can create higher trust with enough supply and demand, I believe it will become the next Ethereum. Unfortunately, the situation not support your ideas. The market too slow to respond and many people still have trust with Ethereum. Of the record, NEM will become the next Ethereum.

The truth tells it so. That's why every coin to become next ethereum has the chance. So far, I join the satoshi wallet network for testing the rinkeby testnet for totally unanimous transaction and all I could say is that this is really promising and I guess it is not true that it is impossible that transfer of tokens are not unanimously done. Yes you can.

I agree with the general sentiment that NEO could be the next Ethereum. I am already of the mind that whatever price action Ethereum sees and price milestones it hits is mirrored by NEO eventually. The big difference obviously is that NEO provides GAS which is an interesting concept and will draw a lot of people into NEO the higher the price goes.

ethereum has many competitors every day, and it can defeat at any time, but now certainly this will not happen. The Ethereal platform is currently a good choice for ICO projects, and they also use Ethereum as a fixed currency if they want to invest in ICO projects. These are the strengths of Ethereum that can hardly defeat at this time.

I think ETH founder doesn't bother looking for more than he deserves for now. The competition about ETH is no big deal if you ask me there will always better than the other one although we all have one thing in common to pick the right coin for ourselves to profit from. It may seem other coins will fought back to other coins but that doesn't mean they will work it out until the end.
