Today or tomorrow will be probably a last time to buy in a double digits. Even if/when there will be future crashes, it will probably never crash below what happends yesterday.
Pretty sure I've read this before. Cheesy

Well I might be sometimes wrong in a short run, but it is the long run that matters.  Wink And I think that it has never looked better in a long run for BTC. When people just understand that BTC is digital gold, not digital dollar they will also understand volatility better.

And MtGox which is what matters currently doesn't seem to much want to break past $90.

Will we see triple digits again is the new will we see double digits again.  Cheesy

[…] I believe that Bitcoins will be successful, but I also believe this has nothing to do with its price. They will be successful at $1 and at $1000.

I like this statement. I believe this also. Bitcoin is the first independent, international, digital currency. This grand idea will not go away again. Even if bitcoins outlive themselves, something similar, better will take their place.

That said, I still think we need some good speculators to dampen the price movements, in other words, buy low and sell high. We need them to throw out the many idiots who are damaging bitcoin's reputation. The money simply flows from the pockets of the destabilizers into the pockets of the stabilizers. It always does that.

My most expensive coins were priced at ~$141 and the cheapest were ~$8 or mined.

Your point?

Maybe you are one of these buying always at the very lowest and selling at the very top (= liar).

It's time for the believers. Day traders can go die in a fire  Grin

At least you have the courage to tell others your position (i.e. to put your money where your mouth is). Most bulls here don't, they only spam the forums about how wise they are and how dumb the bears are.

I am neither. I believe that Bitcoins will be successful, but I also believe this has nothing to do with its price. They will be successful at $1 and at $1000.

These are very cheap coins right now. Thank MtGox's incompetence for this opportunity to buy in the high double digits.

Let us know at which price you did buy. Unless you fear to be ridiculed later.

We will see double digits again.

Yep

And pretty soon too. I had thought the decline would be somewhat slower.

The lesson is once again that when the bubble bursts it is difficult to impossible to trade before the price sort of stabilizes at a much lower level.

Fortunately we knew this in advance. If I wanted to blame myself, the only fault was that I still underestimated the stupidity of the trend followers. But bubble peaks are notoriously difficult to predict with any precision.

...I would love it to drop <100 so I can buy more, but I really think the fuse is lit.
I'm thinking you are correct!

I wish it would drop lower for a while, my wife is just about to get an account verified with MtGox (hopefully).

She'd like to dabble in daytrading BTC and obviously I'd like her to buy in as low as possible.

But it's crazy, all signs point to UP! Mainstream news coverage has driven the massive interest in the last week.

Doubtful, MtGox just recently had to employ 3 more fulltime staff (ontop of existing 4) to verify new trading accounts, the verification queue is still large.

You see the perception of bitcoin is polarised, people are either really bullish for it or really bearish, people signing up for a trading account tend to be bullish.

This means a whole new wave of optimistic traders are entering now, their expectations driving price.

Some will only be signing up to hold and speculate, thus reducing availability and further driving price.

And so we have just entered the third exponential phase, this will take us up to the high hundreds.

I would love it to drop <100 so I can buy more, but I really think the fuse is lit.

I'm thinking the correction / swing this week will be pretty big. I got out at $113.50. Have I lost some opportunity? Yeah. On the other hand, I made six times my initial investment in less than 2 months.

Sure beats the hell out of the.25 percent I'd get if it were in a bank!
I got out at $113.89 with 1/3 rd of my stash. We will get back in by Saturday under $110. Just might make a run up to $150 tomorrow first. BTC China just hit $145.
If there is that much of a spread, why not use LR for arbitrage?

Yes. Right now we've stabilized at $115. As scheduled:

If the trend is your friend:

Top out at $115.
Bears come out to play and price drops down to $95.
MtGox quits lagging and people buy up to $110.

Tin foil hat comes on when I see this kind of action. I wonder how much it would take for someone to bid this up to the point that all eyes are on Bitcoin, and then just crash it to the ground for everyone to see. That would be a surefire way to discredit Bitcoin for years, if not decades. And how much would such a show cost, particularly to someone who can print it without regard?
