Nope.
Acceptance of a cryptocurrencies is great news, but I don't trust in UNICEF's distribution of funds. What percentage is going for UNICEF's bureaucrat machine and what percentage is going for real causes.

But I can tell you what I'm doing. Every week or two, I'm choosing a local cause and I'm using a Bitcoin Visa to make a donation to a cause of my choice. 8/10 cases it's some medical/cancer case because the collection of the necessary fund there in time is crucial/live savings.

This is indeed a good news. I think I've come across with a thread talking about the same topic in our local board and it's nice to know that a well known foundation is now acknowledging and accepting cryptocurrency.

Surely, individuals are also allowed to donate part of their funds and not just groups or organizations since there are lots of good-hearted people out there who are very much willing to help out the needy. I'm currently at my earning stage and does not have enough funds to give out yet, but when I have earned enough, I won't hesitate to share my blessings. Smiley

I see. But were talking about UNICEF here, I'm sure an arm of United Nation will not be using this fund for hidden agenda.

By the way, the UNICEF responded to my email and they will let me know the process of this cryptocurrency fund of UNICEF. I hope some staff here in forum can help me spread it later on, so everybody can see and lots of people can extend their hand.

Or maybe if theymos reading, he can help me pinned the process so everyone knows it legit.

how do you know givewell isn't receiving money to advertise charities as the best to give too. Unfortunately, as we all know charities can be some of the most corrupt businesses around. I'm not suggesting UNICEF or givewell are doing that, however its another layer that you have to trust when giving money to these charities.

True I suppose, and it is always important in life to assume nothing and question everything. Givewell do seem quite transparent, they say on their front page that they don't receive any fees, and they also have a page dedicated to their own mistakes, which is kind of refreshing. I take the point though; there is always an element of trust involved.

Sorry for derailing the thread - this is about UNICEF. Smiley

This is good news, thanks for sharing. I'm glad that a major charity is accepting crypto!

As an aside, and for those who love drowning in stats, this online charity evaluator site is very useful in helping you to decide how best you can help those in need, and how to ensure that your donations are going to the intended recipients rather than being siphoned off by middlemen.

The only thing with this is if you expect the money you're giving to charities that claim to help as much as possible how do you know givewell isn't receiving money to advertise charities as the best to give too. Unfortunately, as we all know charities can be some of the most corrupt businesses around. I'm not suggesting UNICEF or givewell are doing that, however its another layer that you have to trust when giving money to these charities.

Hey guys, are you in for donating some of youre cryptofunds?  since UNICEF now accept cryptocurrency for their charity foundation. The purpose of this is actually nice since the funds will be used to fund an open source technology that will benefit the next generation around the world.

They announced the press release yesterday.

Check out this article: https://www.unicef.org/press-releases/unicef-launches-cryptocurrency-fund

I'm already emailed them regarding the details of this if individuals can donate funds or only huge group or foundation.
