As already stated in this thread, those coins that are 'resurrected' typically have short 2nd lives... they are simply pumps after a new dev chomped up super cheap coins. It's kind of like a premine without a developer having to admit to a premine. Actually it's kind of smart from a dev standpoint.

However unless you too are holding the same coin at supercheap prices, it's kind of risky to jump back in during this 2nd pump, so typically I stay away unless I spotted a good entry point. But usually my trading eyes aren't that sharp.

Coins that are dead and left behind are very difficult to come back to life. Depends on how he can die and be left. If Dead and fails due to lack of development funds may one day be able to bounce back with the support of investors who want to use the coin technology. but if the coin dies because it's a scam or fraud coin, then don't expect much.

I really enjoyed such actions but really I couldn't afford it. I usually look for potential businesses but have very low market capitalization due to market manipulation. In the stock market I have done the same and many times have been very profitable. investing in a seemingly dead business is risky, but when it revives, we get a lot of things. RET and Energi are two businesses that I have invested in and it has grown again!

We have thousands of coins in the market right now, and thousands of them are dead coins do you have a coin that you've supported than turn dead and making a comeback, and will you support a coin that you've invested and become a dead coin and making a comeback.
mine was Xtrabyte it becomes a deadcoin, but adopted by a new developer and it becomes profitable.

Whenever a new team tries to revive a dead coin, they seldom succeed because people do not trust it easily. The prices can be good but people also look for the trading volume, and a dead coin, it will be difficult for it to climb without fund. Crowdfunding must be also done correctly so people will really support it. As for me, I will give my support as long I can see the potential of the coin, though as you say that there thousands of them, it is difficult to filter out which is which.

It will be tough to think which among the thousand of the dead coins will I support. It is because they are "dead" because of a reason. I do believe in second chances but the coin must be worth it. Most of the dead coins are like copy-cat of each other so it will be difficult to find a unique one. I will only support a dead coin that comes back if what killed it in the first place has been resolved. The change of the owner or dev team is not enough, we must see a solid proof that the coin will die again.

it's true you better not come back in coins that can be said to be shitcoin, you better find a coin that really has the potential to be able to go back and trade in the coin, for ethereum I feel very heavy to return because until now the price has not there is an interesting price movement again even the platform is just like that, I rather try to buy coins that have little and limited supply and have demand and even very high usage because such coins will always have a good future.
A shitcoin will remain shitcoin even having a comeback. We all know that once it is dead, it is impossible to have a comeback.
Investing in popular crypto than wasting a penny on shitcoins just because it is planning to comeback is not worthy.

Ethereum has the same condition with other cryptos in the market, I think this is just for now and it will be sure to show its worth when bullish market comes.

all investors know that the development of any cryptocurrency and investment in cryptocurrency no one can know for sure its development if you are not sure of the coins you are investing and the exact steps you take to stop because in my opinion the development of the critpo depends on investors too

If you have been in the crypto space for more a year and you have actively invested in ICOs, then it's likely that you would have encountered projects that seemed dead but made a comeback spectacularly, although most of them were just short-term comebacks due to manipulation and the projects promptly went back to being dead, I have experienced this several times but one of the most prominent is Figured Futures, it made a spectacular comeback after months of lying dormant but that didn't last long either.

Actually I also have a lot of dead coins but until now there has not been a single one that grows back, if there is a dead coin that grows back and has a road map then that can be a consideration for us to support again but must first look at the details so as not to feel disadvantaged again.
There are too many projects in the market to start paying attention to projects that makes a comeback, because I didn’t not know what killed them in the first instance, and there is no assurance that whatever they did to kill the first project as being fixed and there is no guarantee also that they are not coming to scam the second time, so for me, I would not pay any slight attention to them.

Like you, I already have a handful of bad coins already and I would not want to just keep holding these coins that are not trustworthy, rather than investing in a project that is making a comeback, I think that I will invest in already existing project that is listed among the top 10 coins or I just keep investing my money in bitcoin already because any money I have in bitcoin can never be  a waste.

I always support altcoin which has the advanced technology behind it and has a use value both in the real or virtual world. for example PundiX, I have held it since the price of 50 sat until now at 2 sat. Even though now PundiX it is on the verge of death, but I am still sure that Pundix will comeback and provide unexpected profit. Considering this token has a very nice ecosystem.

I have literally supported a coin until its death Cheesy It wasn't a decent thing to see and I even supported it after it was dead as well telling people it will revive and be big again one day and it did not happen at all. Some coins are just not owned by a good team at all, some coins are literally ruled by just one person and it is really not that good at all as well. Hence those coins just end up dead after certain time.

In order to be a good coin you need to have a good team, even a good team doesn't guarantee you a good coin but a bad team or just a single person guarantees a bad coin for sure so without a good team it is 100% bad coin. Mine didn't had a good team, it had one guy who basically didn't cared at all after the creation, the idea was great but execution wasn't around so it died after the hype died.

Once a shitcoin always a shitcoin. If you see a shitcoin that pumped, do not trust it because history it self and there is high possibility that it will dumped. It is better to stay out with these kind of coins. Do not support it in order for you to protect your investment.
Never trust a shitcoin because you will just lose huge amount of money. When whales are pumping, they easily abandon the coin that they pumped and they will move to other coins. Comeback for a shitcoin is impossible so do not buy any of those altcoins.

No, I haven't tried supporting dead coins because as for me, I would rather exert an effort for potential coins rather than taking risks for the second time. It will be hard for a dead coin to regain investors' trust especially when their reputation has been ruined. It will take a lot of effort and there are also lots of things to consider for a certain coin to rise again.

I do not think I have to though, I feel like once they become dead there's no way of coming back again even though there are some developers who adopted or supports it. Majority of people would be leaving the coin as well, and I either would look forward to another coin with much greater potential than the thing that is already dead. I like to try but I just do not feel the same way I feel when it is alive.

Maybe a dead coin can come back to life but it needs extra effort to gain investor confidence again. With a new developer team and a new whitepaper and roadmap, it is possible for a project to come back to life and grow again

-snip-
It all depends on the investment value that I have spent on the coin, if the investment value is high and I haven't sold it, I think it's actually a benefit for me, because finally I can sell the coin, even though the price may not as high as when I bough it.
If the investment only small amount, I will be sure not to save the coin.
If I need to make new investment for those coin, I choose not, and never consider that as wise choice.

My experience with Hyperstake bought in high prices for staking but day by day the price drops and Poloniex delisted that coin, there are a few exchange still list the coin, but I choose to only back up the (wallet.dat) coin and uninstall the wallet from my PC.

I have many dead altcoins here, but all were not comeback.. I will never support the coins that turning to dead, it is really risky. High chances of will never comeback your money will be gone if you invest.
Most of the time a dead coin will remain dead and forever useless. It is also hard to trust a failure coin again even if it makes a comeback. Chances for them to come back is very low. Even having said that it will be adopted by another developer, there will be no changes for sure.

Actually I also have a lot of dead coins but until now there has not been a single one that grows back, if there is a dead coin that grows back and has a road map then that can be a consideration for us to support again but must first look at the details so as not to feel disadvantaged again.
A coin coming from being dead will be having a hard time to get up. We know a lot of dead coins but after a few years they still the same.
Supporting a dead coin who plans to come back will be hard to trust again, it will be much risky than investing in ico.

Like it's not easy to decide. Because to support it needs consideration. Does the coin rise to make the latest innovation or just to make a profit with pump & dump. If indeed for further development, surely I will support it. Certainly with a clear roadmap, team, and idea. So that it will not become a bad image for the crypto world someday.

You can't just support a coin's comeback out of thin simple facts like "a new developer takes over", you have to consider the deeper implications of why that is relevant to a comeback. For example is the developer more competent or does the new developer seem to be just a ploy money (pump and dump)?

In any case, I've supported bitcoin and ethereum through many comebacks. Buy low and sell high!

Not that I have supported a coin that makes a comeback, but if we're talking about a new team or dev taking over the project, why not, I guess?
If that new team could bring the dead coin to life, I'll consider it. But looking back, I've quite a lot of dead coins on my bag, so it's kinda hard to trust that same coin all over again. But if it does have a comeback, I'll just sell it all, lol. And move to another coin.

Xtrabyte in this case is just one in a million. There are already countless of tokens that died and then tried to recover by tweaking some features but still did not make it. There are others that rebranded their projects in the hope of getting a fresher start but still ended up dead once again. Some others are taken over by other companies. Most of them still ended up in the grave. I won't trust my money to coins that are trying to make a comeback. In the first place, they already failed.

There are always opportunities for comeback, but difficultt market conditions like now make me choose to wait and only buy top coins, I only budget about 10% of my crypto assets for new coins that have a chance to comeback.
It will be hard to trust again even it's managed by new team unless they are able to make it to top 100,59 or 20 list that they can be noticed again then we can give it a chance but if not doubt will always be present as we weren't sure if they will disappear again.
Doubts will be there since the first attempt was a failure, new dev will face difficulties to earn trust from the communities and since competitions
are already present around the market, it will take some time,  and it needs more progressive updates with successful results. The possibilities
is really small for the comeback and be more stronger from the previous offer.

There's no impossible for the team that have goals to continue and reclaim trust around the industry.

Lucky you. I had to think back and i don't think i have ever experienced that. There had been talks for community takeovers for several coins long time ago but those were mostly unsuccessful exit pump tryouts.
I was yold about "Crave" coming back but at that point i didn't see any reason to promote former exit scam pump dump without any future. If the coin wouldn't be tainted but had a good reputation, clear plan, and a new talented coder, i would support it, do free graphics for it etc, and not just to sell my bags.

It depends on the coin. If the coin was a scam nobody will support it after a comeback like people will not support the new mtgox project that they are trying to activate. It's a matter of how hard you fell. Sometimes it's so hard that you will never recover.

There was a time I thought Dogecoin was dead and it made a nice recovery. I will support coins like that which people were getting bored with but I won't support scam coins.

I had once upheld a coin named peercoin, it was a dead coin and somebody took over it. It gave me a benefit, the cost went up from a couple litoshis into a couple satoshis.

after a progression of a siphon and guarantees, somebody from the group dumped a great deal of coins on the market and deserted it. That was the last time I bolstered an assume control over project, despite the fact that another person took over it once more. I have lost my enthusiasm for supporting that sort of project since I keep have an inclination the group will accomplish something very similar again when the market rises

This further proves that cryptocurrency is full of surprises and sometimes difficult to predict. Projects that were previously promising can end dramatically, projects that are not strong can even be very profitable beyond expectations.
Even though I have never had an experience like OP, but I can feel enormous happiness. Finally, what we do is not in vain, especially if previously indicated to fail, really plot twist. One lesson from here, do not ever give up and always try your best, who knows one day the tokens or coins that you have today are worthless can turn out to be very valuable someday.

The 2018 bear market had extended up to these days are sending altcoins to its grave that's for sure. If one of them are going to have a come back, I don't know if they can afford to pay exchange listing, some exchanges ask about 100K USD to list a pair.

it is true that at this time I am still holding shitcoin in my wallet in the hope that there will be new developments for it so that this coin can have a price that is worth it. however, until now there has not been a coin like that. for some coins, I get good information for it like buybacks, new markets, and other application development. it's just that it doesn't have any development after that information. however you are very lucky to have a coin like that.

A similar situation. I have some coins in my wallet that may not wait for their finest hour. But in any case, now I still will not do anything with them, it remains just to believe and wait.

No, no way the developers or those who will adopt the coin must have a lot of bags to sell and they want to make a comeback so they can dump their shares that's been sitting in their wallets, A coin's development should be continuous and none stop, to gain the trust of investors, if there is a paused investor will have second thought and  a coin that is coming back are always had a bad history of leaving their supporters.

Yes there is no way of trusting them again and same thing happened with this project named Athero.io as it was expected to be a good project bu they just absconded after their tokens were launched without distributing the tokens to bounty hunters and investors dumped it as well when the value was zero with no trading volume they did comeback all of a sudden saying they are back and wants to continue the project by sharing the worthless tokens to fool the market and dump some leftover token which they had.

It is really difficult to trust a coin that went out in a big way and making a come back so that new investors should trust them is a hard ask, i have seen many coins going that route and making a comeback but it is difficult for them to sustain, good to hear about this coin and i did not invest in it and not planning to invest in it either.

I have never supported a dying coin, the reason is if the coin is almost dead and there is no development or left by the developer, this is not a good thing, but this is a real coin that died. maybe only lucky people buy coins dying and coming back to life or being active again. because we don't know if the coins are taken over by other developers, most of the dead coins are still left by the developer. Very few people want to adopt a dying project.
have to think again to buy a coin that has almost no volume, the risk of loss is very large in it maybe only a small part that can come back to life and compete in the market. better researching potential coins than doing research on dying coins because it will waste a lot of time for sure

The coin that I have always believed in is STRAT(Stratis) even if they have got hit very hard by the bear market they have managed to continue developing their products full steam ahead. They now have a suite of production-ready blockchain products focused on enterprises, but they are also easy to use for the day-to-day user. As a matter of fact they are now hosting a hackathon to boost the development of application on top of the Stratis platform. I believe that's the only thing Stratis needs to finally enter an uptrend namely USE CASES!

That is good if they had come back and become profitable. I have the same case but it takes a week and then back again to failure and nonsense value. I forget the token name but as far as I remember after distributing and listed exchange when it dropped too much I left on Ether Delta exchange with the value of $5, after almost a year it was pumped around $250 worth value for almost a week but after that, it was drastically down and until now they remain shitcoin. Fortunately, I have earned $150 because I set on the highest price and left on exchange.

If they actually fulfill some form of utility, then absolutely.

However, the point here is that the vast majority of coins that are dead in the first place do not have any utility to speak about. The only example that negate this phenomenon I can remember is probably Factom, and you can argue that coin was never dead in the first place.

From a short term trader's perspective, it doesn't even matter what coin you support or not, as long as you can profit off it.

So far I have never found that, most of my coins that have no volume and eventually die, I have never found it. I hope that there will be some of my dead coins that will come back to life with better developers to produce quality projects.

I have not experienced something like that, because all coins that have become dead, are still dead, without any kind of a comeback. But I have the feeling that something similar may happen to ETH, if Vitalik continues to mislead the coin.

Naturally I would not, because I expected a coin that has a real working product to have some level of continuity, coca cola product has been on for decades, and people still value their product, so many projects that has existed in decades are still very active in the market, and even if the team that initially established them were no longer there, but the project being a quality one still has some level of continuity, though it depend on the management, so if a product is going to make a comeback, the only thing that would first of all make me to consider it is when I check what make them drop dead initially, if it is not as a result of human error, I can give chance to it, believing that whatever caused the death must have been eliminated, but anything that has to do with human error will never be given a chance to again.

It depends on the coin's company management. If they have a breakthrough to their coins and will make something big i would definitely invest on them.
If the coin is dead a their company has nothing to do, no chance to the coins for rising up again, so i won't invest on them

My answer will be, don't know. Maybe I will observe first after the coin makes a comeback because I want to see what they can offer now to people. And if the project has made a new plan and strategy and the team has begun to make changes to the project, maybe I will try to invest with a small amount and give my support. But that will depend on the market situations because if they come back, it will difficult to reach trust from the traders then. If they can prove that they can make a better than before, I think many people will support the project.

Its one in a thousand coins that come back alive and bring profits for investors , i have mined many altcoins that got taken over by new developers after they are been abandoned but still they have nothing to offer, still useless and worthless

Its very unfortunate that most of these coins together with its new developers may have hit a dead end and maybe all stakeholders may have also lost interest with the project especially during the crypto winter that started early in 2018.

Now I fear that the stakeholders - the developers and the community would eventually realized that there is no point in continuing a second hand project when all other altcoins with far more superior technology and innovations are also failing in the crypto markets during the bear season and this could result in the project most likely to be abandoned altogether by them.

No I haven't experience that because back when I was investing in new projects I would always sell it once I gain profit.
And thanks to it I earned some profit back in 2017 and whenever I look back to those project I am happy that I did what I done back then because right now most of them are dead.
But I would say that there are times that I wish I have invested in some project back then that is super low price and manage to move up their price.

It depends! If I have a significant amount of holding of that coin which I couldn't sell off, I will probably support that coin to make a comeback after a thourough study! If I see that the developer of that coin is serious about his project and not gonna run away with public money, probably I will support them in their comeback initiative! Otherwise not!

I have never supported a coin that originally died doing comeback. I would rather throw a dead coin than have to support it, every month there is always a token that is born, so maybe this is the beginning to choose a new coin. People who always give support to the coin even though the coin is dead, are loyal users, rarely bending loyal users like you.

Its rare to see coins that are once dead and come back better, many coins that was took over by new devs died over again, i think once a coin manage to die it should just stay dead, my experience with such coins are bad, in the end they get abandoned
I don't have any idea what kind of work can be done since the coin already died and with new dev team it will be a tough job to recreate the trust coming from those previous investors who got disappointed and leave the project. With OP's experienced, indeed it's a rare case that the project become profitable again, the question will be for how long it can take and survive with tough competitions inside the market.

I will never trust any coin that was once a dead coin and bounce back to live because they will never do better even after taken over by new devs or team, the project must have been half backed from the start, many of them are unfinished ideas from devs that have nothing to offer than pump and dump coins
If ever that it shows potential, why not.
If this was adapted by another developer then there is a possibility that this may have a comeback. We can't probably tell by now, but if it happens that a certain coin which is already dead proves itself that it can comeback, then I think it is worth it.

I don't have experience such as that because most of dead coins which i have cannot recovering the price but if i facing this situations i think it's all about how to get profit from them so if they really potential to makes good comeback and deserve to buyback because seems showing good sign on the market then i will buy them but as far i know rare to see those kind of coins

I have supported one that "tried" to make a comeback. It didn't worked out as you can understand from the "" parts because we have tried everything we can come up with but the volume and interest was so low that eventually it got all delisted and so we decided not to follow up on it anymore, I mean at one point the owner was literally burning the funds he received in order to keep it listed and have a fake volume but it wasn't enough so we just gave up.

Now it is listed on couple of horrible Chinese exchanges with almost zero volume but that really doesn't mean its on an "exchange" because nobody trades there so all you can do is go sell it for insanely cheaper than what it used to be and get out, I did exactly that. Just went there and sold all my coins to market price and made 20% of my money back and then gave up.

come back doesn't always come from a dead coin. those who experience a decline and then back again at the best price we can call a comeback. indeed not much for now. but if you look in the past I've seen it. some coins that go down then go up again even have a better price than the price of their ICO. just look at the DENT token then you will find out how the progress of the growth of the token from stability and then down until many of their investors sell cheaply. but after 1 year of development, the DENT can fly to its peak.

Reddcoin when i was active it was trading at 8 satoshi and people were calling it a dead shitcoin because the value plummeted to 1 satoshi. Didnt knew that it would one of the profitable coins during the bullrun.
I've fooled around with staking rdd in the past, but it hasn't exactly held its value over time.  Right now it's trading at around 12 satoshis, which isn't really a great performance.  On the other hand it isn't quite dead.  The only thing with that particular coin is that it didn't find the use it was intended to, which I *think* was as a tipping mechanism on reddit.  Members of that forum can already do that with doge and it works fine.

Dead coins to me are ones trading for 1 satoshi and really aren't trading at all, meaning that there are no buy orders in sight.  I've never bought any of those, because it's too risky and I don't have any strong feelings towards any of them.  Nobody wants them, nobody's trading them, and there usually aren't any miners even mining them, so you couldn't send them to a wallet even if you wanted to.

Who would get behind any coin like that?  I don't think those could be resurrected unless there were a bunch of people interested in doing it.  One person wouldn't make much of a difference.

Xrtabyte was also supported by me. its market value is 0.00000001 or 1 satoshi and i bought 500,000 XBY for 0.005 BTC previously. But I don't make a lot of money here because I sell it for 150 sats to 200 sats right away.

Its highest price was 3000 satoshi which I regret so much because I could not imagine its price to go that way.

We all face situations like this. But, mostly we have been waiting for nothing.
The opposite has also happened. At the end of 2017, there was MNX, after it was listed the price had fallen to $1, but within three weeks it had reached $90. I made a very good profit through it. But now it is under $0.10. As far as I know, they have been so messed up this year because of fake news. I am lucky I got to take advantage of it on time.

I don't support this take over team, we never know if these are the same people who wants to scam people for the second time, and right now there are no coin in the market that returned or has a take over team, because people are wiser now, you cannot fool them the second time, they will check the history why the coin has gone and tries to make a comeback.

That is exactly what I was thinking after seeing them dumping a lot of coins on the market, that is also the reason why I stopped believing in take over or revival project.
almost all of them took over the project because they want to dump their bags after collecting it for a period of time.
it is hard to see someone with good attention right now, mostly they are doing it for money and profit.

it is true that at this time I am still holding shitcoin in my wallet in the hope that there will be new developments for it so that this coin can have a price that is worth it. however, until now there has not been a coin like that. for some coins, I get good information for it like buybacks, new markets, and other application development. it's just that it doesn't have any development after that information. however you are very lucky to have a coin like that.

It depends on the situation as we have to consider many factors before we support an inactive  project again.

First and foremost, we have to find out if the there is a need to continue the project along with its unique innovations and technologies not found in other projects.

Secondly, we have to ascertain the capability and integrity of the developers or the core team that will takeover the project and also find out if they are dead serious on that endeavor because if they are not committed enough, the project will most likely fail in the long run.

Lastly, we should find out if there are sufficient supporters backing up the idea of a takeover and further development of the coin because I believe that a project without community or supporters will also bound to fail.

I think these are the basic questions that we need to answer first before we decide to support such  kinds of projects. Imho.
Point well made, if you think that there is a huge chance that you will be gaining a huge profit then go for it but before that you should do your own research so you won't regret anything if your decision does not turn out good. Well we don't have to underestimate it unless it was proven that it is not worth it unlike any other coin.

every single shitcoin that has ever been created had always had a cycle of pumps. there are certain shitcoins that are worth less than 100 satoshi that are being pumped every 10 months on average. there are shitcoins that are being pumped every 2 years, others every couple of months and so on.
so the answer to your question from everyone's perspective is yes there is always a shitcoin that has been pumped and made a "come back" although they have never been capable of reaching the ATH they reached during their single massive pump.

It's more likely that if a deadcoin makes a comback, the bagholders will dust off their wallets and sell their coins and breathe a sigh of relief. The selling will of course kill the coin again.

This is very tough decision.
It is like; selling your shitcoin at loss, and buying it again.
I really don't think so that this is effective especially a coin that has very small amount of market cap. There are very small percentage of chance to make comeback when the market cap is very small and when their project started to vanish out of nowhere.
I really don't think so that once a coin is already dead, it will resurrect, lol.

That scenario is more likely to happen especially if the project don't have any significant features or technology to offer to the crypto-community and is just a copy pasted fork from a previous project.

Unfortunately, many people have fallen prey to these kinds of tactics even before the advent of ICO's.

I have trust with the coins I'm holding such as XRP, LTC, BTC, and the likes along with other coins having prices close to zero. These coins are not yet dead but the decrease on its market value from the previous year is enough for me to sell it already but I choose not to. I have witnessed what happened before, when the market value of cryptos were very low and when the prices are at their peak. I am well aware of the cryptos' true nature. This made me stick with the plan of holding until the prices recover.

This is my first time to be aware of that development in Xtrabyte...sadly I think I already lost that coin somewhere in an exchange I could not anymore pinpoint. Anyway, I am happy to see that Xtrabyte is given a deserving new life am sure that many hodlers are happy right now. Yes, I would not have any problem with a coin that is looking for another chance and I think we should encourage dead coins to either resurrect their projects and do the Second Coming or look for another group that can be interested to revive the said coin for the sake of those who believed in the project in the first place. In fact, the second time around can even be sweeter and more fulfilling, just to rephrase a popular saying.

Thanks @OP. That is what I have always wanted to experience with the coins in my wallets, even though their token sale events were successful, yet they seem to be dead now and were not even listed on exchange before they became dead, except that they were traded on DEX for some times. If they eventually comeback, I will support them and if they turn out to yield good results, I will be glad.

It seems I will not do it, because in my opinion supporting dead coins in the market for pumping is very risky. We must be careful with the market, a group of people might play with this type of coin. I have a decent coin to sell in my wallet, a few days ago the price was at the pump but only temporarily and now there seems to be no sign of going up anymore.
