where are you downloading electrum from? the official site is at electrum.org

I'm having a really annoying problem, I was using an old version of Electrum and the program said I cant transfer bitcoins using versions under 2.5 build.

this sounds strange to me. when does the program say this?

when trying to transfer and sign the transaction.

"error:  your client produced a transaction that is not accepted by the bitcoin network  anymore. Please upgrade [...]"
That is correct. Versions below 2.5 does not have low-s values enforced[1] and thus they create transactions that is considered invalid in the network.

OP, are you using 2.7.1 and above? Versions before that will crash when older seeds are used.

Thanks for the info! So the bug is known good, however I was using the newest build I believe  2.7.12 and still crashes. I will try using 2.7.0 where it stated to be fixed.

I am virtually positive you could get your coins moved using a TAILS disk, which has Electrum in the build.  It runs completely in RAM using a linux OS.  That doesn't solve your problem regarding the ease with which I always have found Electrum to work.  Its great software and Thomas has written excellent code.  I am a complete security buff using only Linux so I can tell you that I have little to no experience with Electrum and Windows.  At this point I will step back and see if some Windows users can forward suggestions.  Good luck.

Hello Coin-Keeper,

i tried creating a new wallet, same thing, minimizes into crash. Mobile version is a nice tip but gives me a runtime error, starts anyway and then freezes up. Jeez!

Ill try using a 3rd PC tomorrow...

Can you create a new wallet using 2.7 on your computer?  This is a test only just to see what is going on there.  You can blow away any test wallets, just don't send coins to them until you are sure its under control.  If the answer is NO then its not something fudged in your old wallet.  If you are able to open Electrum and create new wallets without issue we can go from there.  Let us know.

You also have the option of downloading Electrum portable and it can run without installing anything at all.  If the above is a no go, then try portable and see if you can create wallets on your computer that way.  If yes, then try to restore from your old wallet and see if it works for you.  While I don't use it, many folks here like portable.

Hi folks,

I'm having a really annoying problem, I was using an old version of Electrum and the program said I cant transfer bitcoins using versions under 2.5 build.

So I installed the latest version 2.7, tried to restore my wallet with my seed words - but it just minimizes to tray and then crashes... closes itself.

What the hell can I do? Right now Im not able to do anything bitcoin-wise.

Tried a clean uninstall with removing everything of Electrum in /Appdata and registry keys, version 2.5 and above but it just won't load up after restore attempt. Keep in mind old versions do work...

Even tried loading this damn program on another PC and same crap.

I really appreciate any help.
