I'm not ashamed to admit that I like Windows.
Same here, but Linux left me no choice due to its compatibility issues with some of the apps that I regularly use.

I like Linux too, Ubuntu to be specific, which I have running on all my servers.  I have Ubuntu Desktop installed on one of my laptops, and use it regularly.  My bitcoin node is running Ubuntu server, which seems far more practical for me than running a node server on Windows.  It's really hard to beat the practicality of Linux for a machine that's dedicated to a specific process.

and all my hardware wallets linked up without issue.
Does it also include a Trezor hardware wallet by any chance?

Yeah, that's my main hardware wallet; both Trezor One and the Model T worked fine, but I only tried them with Electrum.  I haven't installed the Trezor Suite yet, I might give it a shot this weekend.

Last month, I was eagerly looking forward to its release in Oct, 5 but I completely forgot about it in the past couple of weeks. Just finished checking windows update [thanks to you], but there's still no update for me [I had to enable the TPM first]... Personally, I prefer to upgrade my desktop while leaving the laptop on Windows 10 [it'll be used for running a full node, once it finishes the DL & sync part] + I'd always have another option if I run into problems.

My machines didn't flag me for the upgrade either.  There's a tool you can download that will check for compatibility, it's available here.  The Windows 11 site recommends that you wait until Windows Update selects you for the upgrade, but I'm impatient.  If you want to force it you can update your system or download the ISO from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

- I remember reading about its problems in the previous versions [8 and 7] and on their website, there's still no dedicated version for windows 11.

Dude, really?  What the fuck is up your ass today?  I prefer a different OS than you, that's no reason to be such a fucking dick and insult my intelligence.  If you can't handle having a rational discussion about Windows without insulting those who choose to use it, it might be healthier for you to avoid these topics.

Lol.  I do require Windows for my work, but even if I didn't I would use it anyway.
Use whatever you want, you are just confirming your IQ level, passing all IQ tests in the world won't help you, and good thing that you are not ashamed about it  Roll Eyes

I'll have to contact the makers of all those IQ tests that lied to me, and inform them that dkbit98 insists they were wrong.
I never insisted on anything so don't put words in my mouth, and make sure to send extra tip to Bill Gates.

Which Windows 11 version do you use? Home, Pro or other version?

The upgrade is free with a current Windows license, but the version you get depends on that license.  If you have a Widows 7 or Windows 10 Home license you'll get the Home version of Windows 11.  I used my Win7 Ultimate license, so I got the Pro version with the upgrade.

The other really cool feature is the integration of the WSL file system into Windows Explorer, which can (natively) read Linux file systems now.

Neat, but exposing / is reckless. I hope there's no software decide to mess with it.

Agreed.  We'll see what, if any variabilities arise from that.  The way Windows shell handles the Linux file system is more like a shared network drive, so I assume that privileges are handled in a similar way.

someone would really need to have very low IQ to willingly use this OS when there is various free Linux systems to choose.

Meh, every OS has issues at first.  Every OS has it's issues, period.  Haters gonna hate.

I searched on YouTube and watched many channels and did not find a convincing reason to use Windows 11, perhaps the only advantages are in people who focus on interfaces, but for cryptocurrency developers there is no reason.
Just like any new update system, the possibility of errors is still present, but it is related to the performance and the use of the clocks.

Windows 11 is tracking junk full of endless bugs and it only degrades performance of your processor, so someone would really need to have very low IQ to willingly use this OS when there is various free Linux systems to choose.
I see no reason for using any Windows unless you are forced to use it for your job or if you must use some adobe software like photoshop.

I wanted to upgrade to Win 11, but Microsoft has decided that my CPU is a generation too old for their Win 11.
Hence now I'm disappointed and I tend to think that this Win 11, although I can guess that it brings new things, it's more a marketing stunt to get people buying new hardware. Angry I won't do that, it's a waste.
It's the first Windows after Win'95 that may take quite a lot of time until I'll actually get to use. Too bad.

On the other hand, if the new things are only related to Linux integration, Virtual Box solves that, although not as nicely as you're showing.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I like Windows.  I was early to upgrade to Win7 and Win10, and so this past weekend I upgraded my main rig to Windows 11.  I played with it on a spare laptop for a couple of weeks, so I knew what I was getting into.  Oddly, the things I like about it the most are the ways it integrates Linux.  It also borrows a few things from Linux and BSD based OSs, like the center mounted task bar menu and multiple desktops.  The multiple desktop feature is actually usable this time, and it integrates well with multiple displays.  It comes in handy when I have a bunch of stuff open for work, and just need a mental break.

After the upgrade (fresh install) I was able to install all my favorite bitcoin apps.  I have my bitcoin core data files on secondary internal drive, so synchronization was done by the time I thought to check. Electrum installed without issue, and all my hardware wallets linked up without issue.

As is usual for most OS upgrades, the majority of the changes are just fluff and aesthetics.  Win11 isn't any different, but there are a couple of key additions that I find useful.  Here are a couple of my favorite:

The Windows Terminal has been available on Windows 10 for over a year now, but it's integrated into Windows 11.  It's become my favorite tool to manage my servers and VMs, or just as the PowerShell console.  It makes managing SSH connections a breeze.

The other really cool feature is the integration of the WSL file system into Windows Explorer, which can (natively) read Linux file systems now.
