We buy Windows 10 Pro keys for about $16 on one of the game/software key selling sites. So far they have all activated and are legit. At that price it is more then worth it imo.

There are a number of ways to go, and to add to the list, my method for my 4 rigs has been this:

1- Purchase OEM license for Windows 7 on ebay for $20. This is completely legit due to Microsoft OEM business model. The one caveat is that you have to do smart phone activation but it has worked flawlessly for me on 4 rigs.

2- After install of W7, upgrade to Windows 10 for free via Microsoft's "Assistive Technology" program.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade

In my searches, this was the cheapest and most legit way to get to W10, although certainly others may have found a better combination.

One thing that is not debatable though is that if you are planning to go with 6 or 7 GPU's, save your self a TON of hassle and go with Windows 10!  I wasted many hours trying to get my first rig past the 4-5 GPU mark on W7 to no avail... once i upgraded to W10, I was EASILY able to get 6 working on the first try, with no extra steps (like running registry mods, etc) required.

Install from USB. Select "I dont have a license" and mine without a license.......
That's actually interesting, I wasn't aware one could use Win10 without a license. What are the restrictions?

No idea.. I can edit every setting and use any prpgram so far.. Working fine on 4 rigs
Brilliant, what software do you actually use to monitor/control your 4 rigs?

I'm fond of minerstat. See https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/minerstat-mining-monitor-and-management-mining-os-windows-asic-1772780 . Got more rigs coming soon I hope Grin

I buy keys at mmoga: https://www.mmoga.com/advanced_search.php?keywords=Windows&x=0&y=0

The prices are reasonable and you can pay with bitcoin.

There is Linux which is free and ethOS:

http://ethosdistro.com/

You can also use Windows 7 or 8.1, which can also still be upgraded to Windows 10 for free if you check a box saying you use "assistive technologies"

Hello fellas
I am in the process of getting parts for two 7-GPU rigs. I just wondered one thing:

What OS are you guys using for multiple rigs? Just install Windows 10 on each and pay a license for each accordingly? That seems expensive... Is there no alternative? Huh
