Here is the manual for i believe your board.

https://manualsbrain.com/en/manuals/1561180/?page=8

Shows expansion slots and what they do depends on the cpu you are running.

Can you advise make/model of cpu?  Some have 40 pcie lanes and some only 28...this determines how the slots on the motherboard are utilized.    Pay attention to the * and ** notes about the expansion slots.

Looks like setting in bios of pcie slots to 8x8x8x8 would allow 3-4 gpus to run no issue.  But i suspect yours are x16/x8 meaning if you only have 28 lane proc....you are out of lanes.  Thus try 8x8x8x8 option and should boot.    For most mining x1 is plenty.

Let me know happy to help dig into it.

I have an intel 5820k since i built this rig and i had no problem running 3x 970 GPUs at that time, i guess that's a 40 LANE CPU, anyways i might just ditch this cr@p board and entire setup and build new one, this board just seems weird !...

the best tutorial i found so far for building a ming rig is this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR-FkpU2KfI&list=PLbB9cKIo1XI26nfh6tNUemBfVeuKpsTNy&index=169&t=239s

if a missing anything plz let me know, am getting my server boards soon (with 2x cpus each etc..) they are:
https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c600/x9dr7-ln4f.cfm

you think they will work with risers flawlessly ? am having a bad depressing start with this X99 board lol...

thanks,

Do you have any M.2 Drive installed. A lot of boards will disable a slot if you use the M.2
No I dont !

Also have you tried putting the riser card in the 4th slot?
i tried 3x GPUs in the past and its fully supported in slots 1, 3, 5 and been working for years, just having a riser in the fifth wont post as u said
mobo manual: https://manualsbrain.com/en/manuals/1561180/?page=20

no i havent, should i ?? i tried in slot 6 and it never worked !

Try removing GPU2 and see if the riser + 1st gpu work together.

If they do then most likely its a pcie lane issue.
whats a pcie lane issue ?...

If you have both slot 1 and 2 as X16 you may not have the PCIE lanes.  For most mining x1 is fine.    Also looks like it may have 2 x1 slots can try those as well.

It appears it doesnt even complete post when it has all 3 currently plugged in.
funny thing when i have the riser on slot 5 and both GPU On Board in both 1 and 3, i will go to BIOS, BIOS will Identify all 3 PCI-E slots to have a GPU,

i have a couple of X9rif server boards on the way, but if none works for me, what boards are recommended for mining and can be purchased from regular computer stores ?...

I am testing my new mining cards to see if i can hook them up to my gaming desktop on a ASUS X99 Motherboard, so far i was lucky to hook up 2x cards (1080ti + 3060ti) Directly to the board, Both OC'd and been mining with NH for over 12 Hours straight jsut fine...

if i plug a third card to the board it might work but they will get sandwiched and very poor cooling,

so i bought a 009S Riser and added the card there only problem now it wont boot to Windows 10 At all
utube video showing the entire setup and issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB84LIqsbsg

i tried gen 2, gen 1 no luck ! also tried Enable 4G Decoding, am i missing something ? or having a hybrid setup like this will simply not work ?!...

thanks,,,
