This will hamper the bitcoin regulators to think now in other lines as well. Because since they demanded bitcoin now it is in news for bad reasons.

People have kidnapped and demanded money and if people are doing that what role does it have to the currency, nothing it is just an extortion amount and people are demanding it.You really do not ban the Indian rupee or dollar just because they are used for illegal activities.

Ahh, free publicity for wipro and bad publicity for bitcoin indeed.  Big companies get these kind of threats regularly. Interesting question is "does wipro have that much money in first place?"

Does Wipro have that much amount of money is not a question to be asked,if you have not heard about Wipro it is a billion dollar company with an annual revenue of $7.735 billion why should they fell for these extortion demands in the first place, the police have to catch the culprits rather than meeting the demands.

The news got nothing to do with Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies. It is just mud slinging on Bitcoin. It may not do any regulatory harm on Bitcoin but the impression will be battered in the eyes of people and it'll discourage them to use Bitcoin.

Nonetheless one point is clear, "paid news media houses" are handling the bitcoin related news with big bias.

Also could this be done purposely by somebody because that person may not require bitcoin in India to be legalized. Due to which this type of threat and demanding bitcoin where govt may even start thinking to ban it since they are still under frames of regulators and authorities.

Is that a big deal,we are getting plenty of scam mails and i really think that it is just a grand scheme of amatuers just trying to pull up a prank against wipro,it will be either some former employee who got fired recently trying to threaten them and if they could provide a realistic value who knows whether they might be paying them. Grin

All these things are just making the regulation process harder.
What is this news got to lure the regulation process,if any the government has to legalise bitcoin and enforce strict KYC policy to link every transaction and that is how a good government should proceed rather than shutting everything out without knowing the facts.
