Hello all,

Kind of a long shot but I thought I'd try. I accidentally sent some BTC (0.02473612) to the wrong address on my localbitcoin account, don't ask how I even managed to copy and paste the wrong address. Thoughts on recovering the fund?

The address in question is: 19rUMJ2s5MaWP7gxWLTLVctAQQQbVrVyFY (owned by Poloniex.com)
I did submit a support ticket into Poloniex over a two months ago, but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I dont think there is nothing to be done anymore, Someone must be very happy at the moment for the free coin, if you had known the owner you could have appealed to his good side and see what would have happened but at the moment you don't so i think you should just let it go.

Someone mentioned malware. Be aware that this can be a real threat. A friend of mine was hacked by a malware which worked in a similar way.(modify the address from clipboard).

You can not do anything. Sending BTC to wrong address is similar to drop your wallet somewhere you never know. The only possibility in those cases is that, that some honest person finds it and give it back to you.

I don't think there is nothing you can do, so you only shot at this, is to keep talking to Poloniex and hopefully that address is controlled only by them, and maybe they can sent you back the money. If that address is the deposit address of a Poloniex user, then I think your funds are lost forever, as the user has probably already withdrew the free coins by now, since that address is now empty.

I made the same mistake as yours by sending 0.0033btc to 1697T611Ze2JjLSoD8BjtiYgguQEVwsV6a. The address is owned by hashnest. Though i have an account to their wallet but i can't withdraw them because their wallet is under maintenance. I tried to create a ticket but there is no response, up to now i dont know what to do. Anyone to help please.

Hard luck bro, double check the address next time before making transfer, but there is no way to recover your funds right now.

There is nothing you can do about it now. It is gone and have been mined. All you have to do next time is copy the address you want to send fund to and and paste it on notebook and then to the destination field before you finally send it pause and confirm the one on the note book before you click send.

Thanks for the response, yea I figured as much. I've detailed the whole transaction to Poloniex, but I don't think there's anyone working support for the  Undecided. I even used that whois site, but not sure how reputable it is for both address:
http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/address/19rUMJ2s5MaWP7gxWLTLVctAQQQbVrVyFY

It looks like the funds on that address are now 0. They have been moved already to other addresses... it's most likely impossible now that you will ever recover these funds. You would need to contact Poloniex for a confirmation, but im afraid you have very low chances of seeing that money ever again. Always double check that you are copy-pasting the right address next time.

Also be aware that some malware makes you paste an attacker's address instead of what you copied.
