one card per pci-x.  he suggested using a riser, which is a cable that connects your gpu to the mb through ANY pcix interface.  so just count the pcix interfaces.  his point was you do not need pcix16 slots, pcix1 is just fine.

Thanks Viceroy.  So I am seeing 5 slots then.  What do you think of the power supply?  Is 850 watts enough to power four 7950's?




You can check that based on the wattage the card pulls but I'd say no.  I have corsair 1250 watt ps's in my boxes with 3 dual gpu cards.  The biggest problem you are likely to have with all those cards is heat.  You need to move some serious air across those cards to keep the thing humming.

Thanks grue.  I do like those 7950s.  Can you look at the mobo I mentioned and tell me how many cards can that board handle?

Hello:  I have this list for a rig I am building.  I would appreciate any suggestions as to whether this will work.  I am not sure if the power supply is enough.  I would like to run 4 cards with risers.  So far what I am thinking of is:

ASUS F1A75-V EVO FM1 Socket A75 SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 ATX AMD A75 FCH ATX DDR3 1800 AMD ?FM Motherboard
