You own the pen
2 minutes to go before the game and this is something you won't gonna witness in your everyday life. I see a lot of their highlight on Youtube but I never had a time watching live events especially when they all gather in one place such as this one. Most of the spectators are Russian I think most of the rosters are from their country they're rooting for their man. See you their guys the link is in the OP if you want to watch.

To end this topic here are two videos from the commentators Big Loz explaining how things went down on the competition and giving his thoughts on the athletes on the podium (if anybody is interested, this also provides good info for future betting on the sport)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYLBdqWJ0n4

It's not a bad start to a year of strongman events and I will be posting more when info on certain events pops up.
I think that we should have more of this kind of things to be honest, with this we can see what is the absolute limit that a man or a woman can do when pushed to do it. This kinds of competitions need to be mainstream, no bloods, guts and punches flying out but just pure raw muscle. I will be watching this but I don't plan on betting anytime soon.

Here it goes , Finally the event is declared happening now.. I have been waiting for the announcement since the pandemic comes yet nothing goes on.

But now that here it is , i will seek for my Friends/betting Buddies again .

our Last gambling together is back in 2018 and since then we stopped following the event , But now lets see what happens and who will Win the bets  Grin Grin Grin
I didn't know that there was a betting for this kind of tournament, I guess that as long as there are winners and losers then there will be bets. I don't know that many strong mans but why isn't the dude(I forgot the name) from the Game of Thrones there, Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw and Robert Oberst aren't included in the competition, the three strong man was in the History Channel show about strong men in the history.

You can be sure that wherever there is a competition there will be betting. Actually, wherever the is money to be made, there will be betting, it's just human nature Cheesy

Regarding the participants of the event, there is an explanation to the. Hafþór Björnsson from GoT is retired from strongman competition as of last year and is preparing for a boxing match with Eddie Hall who is also retired from strongman competition as of 2017. Brian Saw hosted his own competition last year and will be doing so this year, so with all of that he might be just focusing on the WSM and Arnold Classic shows. As for Oberst, he might have not gotten invited. He is really still not a top competitor (imo) and that means that sometimes he might not be on the list (or it could be an injury).

Nice to see the Strongman competitions are back on track. Allways enjoy the big guys lifting insane weights. My favourite competition last year was the first Shaw Classics in December. Have been a huge fan of Brian Shaw, such a beast. As for this competition I probably go with Terry Hollands, he is already a bit old compared to the other ahletes but he such a geniue cool guy. He definitely deserve to win. It's quite suprising that they are all allowed to travel to Bahrain during the corona lockdowns.

The Shaw Classic is a solid addition to the bigger competition list, at least is sees it as a bigger comp. It will take time to get fully established, but I'm sure Shaws name alone will bust it up to where it should be. I will be updating this years event here as well.

As for this year's WUS, unfortunately, Terry Hollands did not compete (even tho he was rumored to), but instead, he served as the second judge along with Big Z. There were some inconsistencies regarding judging but those two could become great judges and maybe thrust the whole judging side of strongman into a more professional direction, they just need to iron out some details.

WUS was...Ok. Nothing spectacular, they treat the athletes like kings and the events were not too bad, however, the planning of the events was a bit off so they need to figure that out for the future, and also they had an issue with the platform again this year so they need to find a better solution for that. So there is work to be done, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. As for the results, Novikov surprised me and came in really strong. I'm Still not on the bandwagon but hey, he did good. Tom Stoltman did not have the best day, don't know what happened there, but his brother had a great showing. Bobby Thompson is shaping up to be one hell of a competitor, his DL is monstrous. Sad to see some of the better-known names like Kearney, Shif, and Heinla not to so good, but it's just the start of the year.  The MVPs of the event are the commentating duo. Big Loz is a national treasure and should be from here on out the commentator on all events.

I am low key rooting for Booby Thompson as he came on to my radar with a strong performance on last year's Arnold's event, but it will be hard to put anything up with veterans like Hollands, Shivlyakov, Heinla and the established Stoltman brothers as well as Novikov and Bishop.

You can't really count on scheduled events in this pandemic. Some had to be postponed, some completely canceled, but with this event, we also have a couple of big competitions upcoming this year so the big boys will have their chances. Too bad we are missing a couple of the high profile competitors from this one, but that's sports, injuries and retirements happen.

That would be the gentle giant Eddie Williams, Australia's strongest man in 2017 and 2018. Great voice and you do have point, strongman, powerlifters, weightlifters, they all breathe through their diaphragms and use various breathing techniques and that can develop at least the proper technique for singing Smiley

Regarding the odds, I was hoping someone can figure out where to place the betts and what the odds are. I know that sites offer odds for WSM competitions but not for smaller ones, however, this is actually a bigger one so there should be some. It gets more attention if they announce deadlift or Atlas Stones record breaks (for example Eddie Halls 500kg deadlift or Stoltmans Atlas Stone), but there should be some betting for it  Huh

Oh wow, yes, thank you very much for this. I did try to look for it to recall but you got it exactly right this is the guy I was looking for:) And yes! All strongmen people or weightlifters are not just about muscle too but the way you breathe and get strong in the core, which is really also how singers train;)

Sadly I have looked around on crypto sportsbooks and not found anything. Deserves a few markets!

I think I saw one of those "Got Talent" shows some time ago and there was this huge strong man carrying 200kg rocks and all that. Impressive and shit, until he started singing too!

Sometimes I wonder if all that weightlifting also develops the stomach and voice muscles;)

Thanks for sharing, which books have these odds? Not that I'd bet. Zero knowledge about it:)
