Worth it mining altcoins with single GPU?

I kinda have free electricity, some of my stuff the solar panel system take care of (and that includes my PC) that's why I'm not worried in how much electricity my PC will take.

Don't plan on getting more cards since that will require me to get an entire new rig specialized for mining.
I'm just going to use my current PC for now since it would be my first time mining, if this goes well I might consider getting a entire rig for mining.

1070 cards are perfect to mine the monero, ZEC and crypto night. You will get the decent performance and hash power for these coins with the Nvidia 1070 cards. I can Multi-Task yes, I got a Ryzen 1700
But since I use it for working rendering etc it will be on load for a lot of the time.

And I guess using both GPU and CPU will make the parts heat even more.
Since Ryzen 1700 limit is 75 I can just work at a stable 70-60 without my PC turning off because of heating.
I am using the wraith spire which is the stock cooler for the Ryzen 1700 and I can overclock to around 3.6-3.75 without having my CPU slowly getting to 75 and the motherboard turning off my PC
I do plan buying a cooler also by mining bitcoin.

About hard drive mining.. Really? I never knew you could use hard drive to mine, if you have a site/video that could explain more about it appreciated.

And also it depends on the future price of a coin.

You can be mining only for cents, but if a coin becomes successful sometimes they can bring nice profits.

I would in any case mine some different coins just to hold, and continue to mine a coin for a 2$ profit/day for your case.

I keep saying anyone who operates a rig for GPU mining only is leaving money on the table for the rest of us to claim.

Anyone know a coin that be mined on a sound card?

According to whattomine for GTX1070, you should atleast get 4$ in 24hrs divide it by 2 should at least get 2$/day minus the power cost depending on your power rates. Please bear in mind that the computation is only valid today, it will probably changed tonight/tomorrow or the next days. so basically I am talking about a non-static or a fix earnings here. it really does change along the way due to mining difficulty

Nah, you can't easily break a premium card, temps can be controlled by doing proper clocks.

The computations above may get you now an idea on how much you could possibly earn as of today

Welcome to the forums. Mining with a single GPU can still be profitable but it will depend primarily on your electricty cost per kwh. For estimates on how much you can earn with a certain GPU, you can always check whattomine.com. Just select your GPU then press the calculate button.

Because you're new i've done this for you and estimates say that you could be earning around $3+ USD for every 24 hours worth of mining based on an electricity cost of $0.2 per kWH.

This does not factor into the equation the power consumption of your motherboard, CPU fans, storage, etc. It is better to have more GPUs so the cost of running these is easily offset.
