World Wars in the past have definitely influenced economy a lot because there needs to be a lot of production of all kinds of different items. I'm afraid, however, if we were to go into a 3rd World War, we all know what would happen. The arsenals of the largest countries (USA, Russia, etc.) are enough to essentially wipe out the human race. There would be all kinds of consequences after. If people are to survive, then there would definitely be a downturn of economy after the war. However, during the actual time of the war, production would be high and economies would be doing well. Because of this, I'm almost positive that Bitcoin and cryptos would be in the green.

This will definitely affect the price of bitcoin. If the real world war destroys the Internet, bitcoin will not exist, and it will disappear forever. But this possibility is not at all. I think during the world the prices will crash badly for the bitcoin and other crypto currencies as well. The reason is simple, during the war priorities for the needs changes quickly. If its world war then I am sure the first thing that will go down would be the internet . Everyone knows that without internet you can not run the miners neither the blockchain nor the core of it. So everything will crash there and off course people know very well that during the war every other financial institute will close down. The life would be more important and all the things needed for living will become priority. So money will be transferred to the fiat immediately after the declaration and thus everything will become zero.

Yes, since world war is something that affects every individual living in a country where the consequences of war take place. However, it is difficult to predict anything about such situation because it might have extremely positive or negative perception towards Crypto in such scenario. There will be the people who will trust crypto to hold their funds/wealth to avoid any damage due to war. On the other hand, there will be the people who will act according to the government instructions and as we all know that government will never support decentralization.

It will surely affect it, because economy also affects crypto market demand. So, if there's a war in a certain country, it's economy will surely crash and thus investors from that country will most likely withdraw all their investments.

WW will end crypto and almost all. To have a working coins, you need to have an internet. Infrastructures like internet are one of the first targets over a global war.

If there is some local, but bigger war, like extended Syrian conflict, the prices will goes up.

Even if the world war between the big States takes place, it will take place on the territory of third countries. For example, because it is now happening in Syria. If the internet will be shut down then I don't think that it will be possible to buy a weapon using Bitcoin though as other members say it will not be shut down. Yes, of course it would, because obviously if there is going to have a world war then people will stop thinking about cryptocurrency, miners will stop minings, investors would stop investing because they value their lives more than cryptocurrency, I mean what are you going to do with your money if you are already dead, right?

In general I think world wide turmoil could cause the price of cryptos to go up. But I don't want cryptos to go up because of that reason, that is asking for the wrong thing. I also think whatever currency funds the war stands to gain the most, and I don't think Bitcoin would be the currency of choice. Instead I believe the USD would stand to gain the most at this point in time, but again I don't want any war anymore, it is futile.

This is not the reason that is going to affect bitcoin's price.
Even if we are talking here about global world war, about 98% of the places on earth won't be considered as "dangerous zone" and people will still be able to do the things that they used to do on a daily basis.
The main thing that may affect the price is that countries may use a lot of money and will enter a huge debt, a thing that is going to decrease the support in fiat currencies, and may make people to move to alternative currencies in order to keep value.

There are lot of casualties can make by world war. Expect that the world economy also will suffer from a downturn if there is a war. Cryptocurrency price may affect much because of war. That's probably what will happen. Technically, in this case cryptocurrencies might even stop existing! If there's some global hunger and lots of deaths then people care about surviving, not being successful. They will fight for bread and water, forgetting about cryptos and even fiat.
Unless of course the war goes very rational and relatively calm, with robots deciding the new territory divisions. In this case blockchain might be used for war purposes. For example, blockchain could be used to buy weapon, cryptography in general will be useful for communication and some new use cases could also appear on demand.

Crypto is valuable right now because there is global stability and people have the confidence to speculate on crypto in an effort to try and increase their wealth. This is only possible because of economic confidence. In both the conditions I listed above, economic confidence disappears and people flee risky assets for safer ones. Crypto is among the most risky assets, and it will crash with severe economic uncertainty because it's useless in times of crisis.

A world war? In this day and age, we have made many economies and states mutually dependent on each other and all-out world wars like WW 1 and 2 is unlikely to happen.

What we are likely to see are small-scale insurgencies but of course if NK go ballistic, maybe we will see a large scale war.. but even in that scenario, a WW is unlikely.

anyway.. in a war, cryptos are likely to increase in price as state-backed currencies will become unstable. Cryptos can easily allow anyone to bring their wealth with them and will be bought by many who feel that their security is threatened...

Cryptocurrency has a higher possibility of surviving a world war than any other currency I can think of. Obviously commodities will maintain their value, but in relation to what will certain fall into question. As investors lose faith in the currency or cannot support the actions of a country then that currency is going to take a hit. If too many significant hits take place, then there will be mass economic panic driving the prices of gold and Bitcoin through the roof. Especially considering as those investors leave the value of the currency will fall, while the the price of the cryptocurrency increases at a rate unlike any we've seen in the past.

I think a world war might actually enable cryptocurrency to show itself for how useful it truly is, unattached from the politics of any particular country or economy.

In our age world war would mean an exchange of nuclear strikes, and I think it would be really bad for crypto - if it would damage electricity/Internet infrastructure, then Bitcoin will become a very risky asset, because it might just become unusable, unlike gold, unless there will be some technology that will allow it to work regardless of local infrastructure, like for example satellites. Bitcoin might be a great hedge against smaller disasters like localized wars and it's a good hedge against economic downfalls.

Assuming this world war would be on a scale larger than the previous, all economies would be affected, including cryptocurrency. It wouldn't suffer as much as fiat though. I think immediate impacts would be some fiat immediately devalued as opposing factions stop recognizing each other's national currencies. Others would be vulnerable to hyperinflation.

I imagine Bitcoin itself will soar in value, but there will probably be wild variations across exchanges, with many possibly choosing to abstain from trading with fiat. If anything, we might see an uptake in crypto adoption as governments rush to hedge and protect their assets.

Mining rigs might also be military targets. Can easily see this happening. Power rationing would mean shutting down all non-essential use of electricity, so industrial miners can say bye-bye, probably even have their hardware conscripted for technological warfare.
