Unless you just want to bet against me?  Will be a shame if we don't get something started as I think more people could join in as the season progresses and the stakes get higher.

One day left before the season starts. If I can get at least 5 people interested to join today I'll set it up and hopefully more people will join throughout the season. Please post or PM if you're willing to join in at 0.01 for this weekends games. Will be fun.

No. If I'm hesitant to do 0.01 a week then I'm not going to do 0.01 a month. I'm sure there would be much more interest if the buy-in was a cent a week but it wouldn't be worth my time. If you're not in a comfortable financial position to afford either 0.1 for a season or 0.01 a week then I would suggest you not gamble at all.

Okay so this is such as a sportsbetting lottery? How about 0.01 monthly buy-in?

You're making it less fun. 0.1 is £40 for an entire season which isn't much especially for an entire season's worth of entertainment. 0.01 every week for the season would work out at 0.38 which is £138 so you could end up losing much more especially if you end up chasing your losses. At least with a fixed amount upfront you've already set your limit so I'd much rather go with this option especially when I think most of the people suggesting weekly will likely either not bother at all or quickly drop out after a week or two. Also, I don't know about you but I don't even bother gambling if I can't make a decent margin otherwise what's the point? Gambling a dollar just to win another isn't that fun to me. There probably won't be much to win either if there's only two or three people playing every week.


I don't think you read what I wrote. The weekly buy in was never going to be 0.1. That was suggested for the entire season. And as stated, I would be doing the escrow.

I think you'd get a lot of support for this if the weekly buy-in was .01 rather than .1, and I'd be willing to do this @ .01 btc per week. There would need to be some way to escrow the money, of course. I've always liked fantasy sports and betting, so this would be right up my alley.

I'd like to join.  But isn't .1 BTC for something like this too steep?  Let's make it 10 USD worth of BTC for the whole season and make this more for fun.  I know, I'm cheap.  But I think there would be more people playing if it was around that amount.  Just a suggestion.

I do hope we get some more interested, as it is a fun way to enjoy the football and maybe make a bit of extra BTC... I mean... 0.01 to make 0.1... 10x return is not too bad... it is like making a parlay on the games, but without the worry that one wrong result destroys you.

Yeah, I thought that would be the most popular option but doesn't seem like anyone other than you is even interested in that. If I can't get a handful of people interested though I probably won't bother though maybe more people would join in as the season goes on.

I would be keen for the 0.01 weekly no obligation option. Mainly because my life is kinda hectic and no guarantee that I'll be able to participate on any given week. So going for the full season pass could end up costing me big if I miss a week or two.

So being able to buy in for a week when I get the chance would be a fun way to liven up the weekend and maybe make a bit of spare cash without a huge commitment.

I can understand why some would do the all or nothing approach tho

The English Premier League season starts two weeks from now on the 13th of August and I was wondering if any one wanted to do a pool on the results of every game each weekend?

How it would work: Every week each person involved will predict what you think the exact scores will be of the ten games that will be played over Saturday-Monday. You will get 3 points for a correct/exact score prediction and 1 for a correct outcome.

Example:

If you picked:

Hull v Leicester 0-1
Burnley v Swansea 0-0
Crystal Palace v West Brom 1-1

And the actual results are:

Hull v Leicester 2-1 Loss: 0 points
Burnley v Swansea 0-0 Win: 3 points
Crystal Palace v West Brom 2-2 Win: 1 points

You would get 4 points from those three selections. The winner would obviously be the person who gets the most points over the ten games that long weekend.

There's two ways we can do it. Either everybody who is interested in participating puts in x amount upfront for the entire season - let's say 0.1 btc each for example - then the person at the end of the season with the most points wins the entire pot. Hopefully there'll be more than ten people so the pot would be over 1 btc. If there's a decent amount of people we could also do smaller payments as consolation prizes for second and third place. Alternatively, we can do it on a week by week basis and new members can join in or people can skip that week for whatever reason. The weekly pay-in to participate could be 0.01 but the pot would then be based on how many play that week but hopefully should be over ten so around 0.1 winnings a week. We could even mix the two options and do a weekly pay in but also the person who gets the most points from the entire season also gets an overal winners bonus. I will take a small fee for organising, escrowing, tallying up points and paying out the coins. This fee will depend on how many users there are and what system we use. Ten users paying upfront is much easier than 100 paying weekly but it will be between 10-20% and we could maybe take x amount of that to pay the overal winner of the season if we go with that option. If someone knows of a website or could create a bot or website to make the process of tallying the points up and submitting scores that would make things a lot easier and lower whatever comission I take.

If you are interested in participating please state so and what option you would prefer and if you would be ok with 0.01 weekly (no obligation per week) or 0.1 upfront. We could even make the 0.1 higher if there was interest and would make things more exciting but not sure how much demand there would be for that. 0.01 weekly would be 0.38 total if you bet every week (though again, you don't have to) so we could put in 0.25 upfront or maybe even more. I would personally consider putting up to 1btc in if we can get a decent amount of users but I'm not sure how many would be willing to risk that. If that's something you would be interested in please state so. This thread is to just get an idea of the demand and a feeler for what people would prefer and what amount they would be comfortable in betting and hopefully we can get something started before the league starts in a fortnight. If we did get a handful of people who wanted to bet upfront but a lot more who would prefer weekly we could run them both seperately. If you have any suggestions they are also welcome.
