I have many friends who think it’s easier to call than to write a message, probably this forum also has those for who easier to listen than to read. Try to realize your idea, maybe something good will turn out.

Depends. A normal discussion with tons of posts, no. But if it is a single, long and very informative thread, like the "how to use the trust system" from Loyce, then I would probably listed to it.

But I can't see theymos implementing something like this. Maybe someone can create an audio for the most important informative threads (rules, how X works, etc) or for their own. But that's not something I usually think about.

it might be nicer to have them read through rather than having to read them yourself.

First of all, thanks for the offer.

I think that the options greatly differs from person to person.
I read even when I commute - either bitcointalk, either news, either a book - on my phone. I find easier and faster to read myself. This way I can also skip the parts I find irrelevant (for me). So no, another text-to-speech (or whatever form) would not help me.

I even used to ask for the opposite: here and there some projects publish audio files with meetings, what is decided to do next, how the project is going and so on. Most of the time I don't get to listen to them, because I would be interested in some 10% of it and don't afford to listen 30-60 minutes for that. I asked a couple of times for transcripts, then I just gave up.

Nowadays, especially for English, people can have text to speech if they want it, on their phone, on their Windows (I think).. At least I seem to bump over that more than necessary  Smiley

TL;DR; For me it's not an useful feature/effort; thanks though.

Near impossible. I mean, sure. You can drop some links to TTS files to help people "listen" to the topics in the background while doing something else, but I don't think it's a feasible option because of the technical terms used. I am imagining a random TTS AI reading most of the coin names, technical terms etc. so bad that it is basically incomprehensible. But for megathreads, like the rules et cetera... maybe? I personally would not probably use it but I know several people who love to read audiobooks while they do something else, as this is similar... perhaps some people might be interested. But, technical difficulties.

As Theymos pointed out from the art contest, we spend a lot of time reading and writing on here. This is good for most of the boards but for things like reading a list of the rules or looking at new changes Theymos implements, it might be nicer to have them read through rather than having to read them yourself.

If you all already have text to speech software then this may well be a useless task but I'm just wondering what people thing.

jet cash did a thread a while ago where I said I'd make something (a parody of some sort) and I got reminded of this with the 10 most noticeable threads competition so I may make something of them anyway - try to autotune my phone )
