Just download a program to see what your CPU temperatures are at. I had to monitor my temps all the time while playing games when I hadn't cleaned my computer in 2 years.

so if I limit the mining cpu usage to let's say 65%, then it won't overheat?
It depends on your laptop, honestly.

Even on my desktop, I use 50% of my CPU (2/4 cores) to keep the heat down and to not limit my GPU's from doing their own thing.

I'd advise to just not attempt it, but if you do, limit it. On windows, an easy way to do it is just by using Ctrl+Shift+Esc, right click what's mining and change the Affinity (to bind to certain cores) and Priority (to low, so it doesn't slow down your other applications).

Erm... Yes.
You can limit how much of the CPU it uses, but as a general blanket answer: Yes.
