Do you think such a debate would bring more investors into the crypto world?
Definitely. I have no doubts at all. Such interview/debates are always helping bitcoin world to be growing into new levels as such debates are bringing new investors on board. Promotions are always good for making more people to adopt and I am seeing these debates are kind of promotions for bitcoins.

Even some people do not get convinced on hearing about bitcoin for the first time, they will get back to know more about bitcoins if they come across if bitcoin gets into higher prices like $100k or anything similar. So, having this kind of debate is very important.

But the price debate shouldn't be the main motivation for newcomers to get into touch with cryptocurrencies. The financial incentive does play a role, but if they willing to put in the effort and develop a decent understand of cryptocurrencies they are much more likely to turn into real Bitcoin supporters. That's why debates are important, but those talking in favor of Bitcoin need to be good at breaking down complex theory into practical knowledge.

It's only when there is a lot of hysteria in the market that google searches shoot up and many of those interested are rather watching out for a quick buck than about understanding Bitcoin in depth.

Debate is not a criteria to know the best option of valued anything, debating can be another way of making something to be well known around the geographical region.

In the date who ends up winning determines that. But anyway, I don’t think all that is necessary, whether there are debates or no debates, people are still going to be investing their money in cryptocurrency and also investing in stocks like gold.

So, all these debates are not really what determines that, but it can still help some people when they are about to make a decision on what to go for, especially those that are still newbies, that’s the area I think it’s mostly going to be helpful for people. And then it’s good that we keep doing things that gets the name out, so that a lot of people will get to know about cryptocurrency and invest their money in it.

Yeah right, recommended videos are all over the social media sites, the moment you search or you accidentally watch any videos it will
reflect to your account and there videos which related to what you previously watch to comes up.
For now, that debate is already known and it depends to whoever who'll going to watch to dictate their opinions.
That's the beauty of algorithms because it helps you widen your interest and help the content creators gather more audiences, the only problem that I see is that it sometimes favor clickbait videos which isn't good since a lot of deserving.content creators are missing out on audiences and audeinces are missing out on creators that might become their new favorite.

no, it won't generate investors. but with that debate there will be a lot of people who understand about bitcoin and blockchain. everyone who watches the debate will probably be interested in crypto and learn about it. this will also be good for the crypto ecosystem in the future. the more people who know about crypto the sooner mainstream adoption becomes a reality.

It depends on what is in the video, if the information about the Bitcoin vs Gold debate looks like it is very difficult to go viral if uploaded
on unpopular platforms. Because nowadays people prefer to share funny videos or related videos about sex which are very easy to spread.
So it is very important that we choose platforms that are popular so that the videos we share want to be watched by many people.
Even many my friends and family still don't know cryptocurrency, maybe cryptocurrency should appear frequently on television
and popular platforms. So there will be many more who are familiar with cryptocurrency.
I don't think that we have to worry about that because big platforms have already took care of making a video accidentally become viral because they are employing and continuously improving their algorithms as to which videos to recommend to their users.

It will be a awesome battle, if you can get a person like Andreas Antonopoulos to represent the Bitcoin side of this debate. I will even pay to see such a discussion, because Andreas Antonopoulos presented "Bitcoin" to the Canadian senate and it was "Epic" to have seen that.  Wink

Some of these "Goldbugs" are very fanatic, so it will make for some interesting confrontations, if we can get some of them onto a platform like this. I hope OP is asking, because he wants to arrange for something like this?

Keep us updated.  Wink

I think it is because the debates will drive the public's attention to Bitcoin more. That could also help the Bitcoin market get more investors.
Bitcoin has been marketed for free for many years due to human-inflicted scandals such as loss related, fraud-related when Bitcoin is used in multi-level projects, Bitcoin has been criticized for being bad ...
Over time the Bitcoin market expanded. So debates will always be positive no matter the outcome.

Instead of making or having a debate, why don't just study both bitcoin and gold so that you know that you can invest on these two.

Doing a debate with this is not a big deal in bitcoin adoption especially that they're about store of value.

Focus on promoting it in some places and you will see those people who are knowledgeable or have an idea about bitcoin and those who are not and still ignorant about it.

The difference is that especially when talking about big channels like CNBC, people will watch it regardless what the topic is about. As for something just uploaded on the web without a huge public backing, the chances of people finding it(without actually searching for it) would be kinda low.
It will still spread like an infection because even if there is small amount of people watching that obscure channel, there is a high chance that some of them are going to tell it to their friends and those friends will tell it to other people, it may not make them curious but it is enough that they know about it and the time will arrive when they encounter something crypto related and will spark their interest.

Depends whether it has a large audience but it still will do the job even if there are less audience. The only problem that I see with this is that the debate is probably going to antagonize bitcoin rather than having a proper debate about which one is better than the other.

Honestly, I don't believe such as debate would bring more investors in crypto. But yes, I have to admit more people would be introduced to Bitcoin through such as debate. I said it can't help to bring more investment in Bitcoin because those people aren't well familiar with Bitcoin they will not invest in Bitcoin. Because everyone knows about Gold, but they don't know about Bitcoin. Those are just familiar with Gold it's very hard to explain to them about Bitcoin as well.

However, I don't like to make comparisons between Gold and Bitcoin. Both are different assets, one is real-life assets that exist physically, another is a virtual cryptocurrency backed by the community. A currency shouldn't compare with real assets.
As time goes by, people will know and understand about bitcoin as we see its current development and they initially do not know in detail about bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies and there are more people and new investors as time goes by.
Gold and bitcoin can both have a value that only differentiates real and virtual, and bitcoin is much more profitable than gold for now as its price continues to increase and a lot of people are getting rich because of it.
and that debate will help make bitcoin more widely known to all investors and newcomers as there is already a lot of evidence that bitcoin is more profitable.

I believe it can bring more investors into the crypto world.  Why?  With this debate, there is a chance for the one speaking for Bitcoin to explain and enable the audience to learn more about cryptocurrency.  Sometimes we need for someone who truly understand Bitcoin to encourage or convince us to hop into it.

I think any news and mention about bitcoin will bring more investors to invest in cryptocurrency. That is such as free advertisement. And if that is happen in TV then it is the best because television is wide spread media. This is good technology and if there are some people who explain bitcoin more details then mass adoption will be happen.

It's a lot more attractive to new investors knowing bitcoin was now announce or mention in news be it in social media or any new article.
But to be honest, bitcoin now are doing great by introducing itself to the market, to the people by just simply proving that it has a value that worth it to be invested.
Personally speaking, if i would going to choose between bitcoin and gold i'll go for having a bitcoin. Both are worth it and valuable too but having bitcoin was more interesting.

Whatever the dispute or discussion about gold and bitcoin, the question should not be which is better or worse. This is the choice of each individual investor where to invest their money. And it is up to each person or company to decide whose arguments to listen to, whether they need profit or saving money in an attempt to avoid inflation. In my opinion, the best option is when you have both gold and bitcoins and other currencies.

As you correctly point out, everyone has his or her perspective on these two two investment opportunities. There are a lot of people that aren't as closely attached to digitization and digitized assets. We here on this forum are all for Bitcoin I guess, but we have to understand that there are a lot of investors who still are so keen to rather hold gold than Bitcoin. Let everyone make their decisions!

There have been debates like the on between Peter Schiff and Erik Vorhees and I like those debates a lot. What's important is that the debaters are strong or otherwise it's just boring. Vorhees did so well he really nailed it and you had the feeling all the time that Peter Schiff couldn't really counter his arguments. Schiff had to stick to his guns as he is fully invested in gold.

I don't think that it may affect too much some investors, for sure a lot of people who watched that debate has already held one of the assets and it won't change their mind by a debate, they have their mind, they have the capability yo think and for sure they already made research before they choose to invest between gold and bitcoin. Some invest in both assets which us a good decision both are good for a long-term investment.

If we are talking in general then it will still be a publicity, and it doesn't matter if it is a good or bad publicity because the end result is that it will make people curious. No, hasn't there been a lot of debates about Bitcoin vs Gold already in the past few years? I'm pretty sure you could already look up a lot of arguments when comparing the two from multiple perspectives. A debate would indeed put crypto and gold into the news for a bit, but that's it. I'm pretty sure those who know of Bitcoin already know of its pros and cons after all.

Plus, investors look at the money or profit side and just seeing what you could've gained from Bitcoin in the past decade, that speaks volumes for itself. It's still quite dependent though since we haven't seen what Bitcoin could do when its supply is maxed out, and we can only wait and see until then.

Not really. There has been a good number of debates concerning Bitcoin already in the past that people could easily access if they'd just search it up on YouTube.

It completely depends though, on how much publicity it would get. If it was something that would be live on television(probably on the likes of CNBC), then maybe it would gain a bit more traction than your usual YouTube debate.

Not at all, trust me when it comes to gold people who have believed the value of it won't get easily influenced by such debate and instead it would just brings up different opinions and probably just trigger some chaotic discussion but that's it. No matter how much saliva coming out of our mouth to explain why bitcoin is better than gold or the other way around definitely won't be impactful to people's opinion regarding gold or bitcoin, the gold investors won't be convinced same with bitcoin investors. Just let the people decide what's good for them by their own judgement.

The debate will just divide the two types of investors:
- those who are in favor of gold vs in favor of bitcoin.

But this literally help them decide which one is better as the debate will gonna state all the possible cons and pros of particular type of investment. Perhaps, those who arent aware that bitcoin can typically consider as an asset value will now have an idea to pursuade it and to accept all the circumstances given by the volatile market. At some point, the debate will attract new investors as they can weigh both advantage of these two types of investments.

There already was a debate between the two. I did not finish watching the whole debate, though. It was kind of long.

Anyway, a debate would benefit the crypto world if the debate is widely watched, shared, and cited around the world and that the one who represented and argued for Bitcoin's position is obviously the winner and the one who represented gold is the loser. In other words, if Bitcoin is clearly arguing for its case being clearly much better than gold, then a debate would be of help. It might bring a lot of investors' money into Bitcoin rather than gold.

However, it seems this is not the case. It seems debates on this are always a fair match and there's no clear winner. Nobody seems to be ahead. Only the avid fans and supporters would think their side prevailed. But both make relevant claims and arguments and it seems the ending is that both are of value and better than the other in different respects.

I lost interest in watching because its not really a popular person on the Gold side. If it was Perter Schiff I would probably finish the entire debate. It's still going though, I think there will be more episodes of this debate hosted by Stansberry Research. It's not however whether someone will win or not both are actually a good investment but I would look at it as meant to educate people.

I mean, they aren't really that influential outside investors who are probably already aware of Bitcoin and Gold. It'll be pretty hard for the average Joe go get attracted to Bitcoin from this debate alone. To be honest, It's not even necessary to have this debate since Bitcoin fulfills a different role from Gold.

I will echo the sentiments of most posters here, no need for debate.

As bitcoiners we know that facts already, bitcoin has been the best assets in the last 4 years already, we don't need to rub it out to those gold bugs. And I doubt that we can change the mindset of old and traditional gold investors, they will remain as gold bugs. On the contrary, we bitcoiners are open minded, we might or might not see gold as a good investments. But in doesn't matter and this kind of debate will not help bitcoin's cause. Let people find out about bitcoin and let them decide for themselves.

I don't think that this debate will have any impact on Bitcoin. How can someone compare Bitcoin to gold, in what terms? These are two completely different entities with different purposes. And this call for debate looks more like a concealed wish to prove that crypto is shit and gold is the best and he (Giustra) knows better.
Anyways, I expect this debate will be rather interesting to watch, maybe I'm wrong and this indeed will have a positive impact.

However, this news isn't that new, because apparently there has already been this debate a week ago, feel free to check it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coHC_9ApBdg

I don't think he is the right knowledgeable person for such a debate. If he has any disagreement with Saylor's statement, he can call a press conference and refute the argument  Lips sealed . Only time will tell whether Gold is good or Bitcoin as an investment, there is no debate here. Already the big companies like Tesla, Paypal, Bank have realized how quickly and reliably Bitcoin is coming to investors with a Return of Investment. Moreover, Bitcoin is not just an investment asset, it is a medium of decentralized currency transactions, So in all cases the comparison of Gold with Bitcoin does not work.

Anything that will give positive vibration or even negative is advertising. Everyone knows gold but still there are people in many corners do not know about crypto industry. So anything helps of course.

Why do people keep on comparing bitcoin with gold?
Because they are none sense LOL
I guess gold is the most valuable asset in physical form. This could be the reason to compare the most valuable asset in the vertual world.

I feel like it wouldn't be able to convince people to choose one over the other but it would give bitcoin some more presence in the media which can't be bad.

Maybe some random people will click it and watch it out of pure boredom and one day decide to get some bitcoin because why not? If you skip a few bottles of alcohol a year or a few packs of cigarettes and put that money in Bitcoin you can't go wrong!

Nah, I don't think that we need this kind of public debate.

Everyone has it's own, gold or bitcoin. It wouldn't attract more on either assets if there is a debate and there's no net to compare both of them. So I would say stop this s**t, and stop comparing the two. Both are good investments to be honest, and it boils down what the person wants, the debate won't settle anything.

No, it won't help us "win more crypto investors". Instead it will help us find out how stupid people are and divide the community even further more. Why do people keep on comparing bitcoin with gold? It's not the same thing. It's totally absurd to even compare them. Can you instantly sell your gold for buying something online? Can you instantly send someone living on the other end of the earth your gold? You can't. Again, can you hold bitcoin. Nope. Value of bitcoin and other crypto currencies depends on faith. If all people loses faith on bitcoin, the price will drop. Will people lose faith on gold? Something that is precious and has physical existence? Nope.

No. It's just an awareness for those who don't know bitcoin but for acceptance, it's the question. There are people that already aware what bitcoin is but still skeptical to embrace it.

To bring more investors to crypto world, a certain big or popular individuals or company must start promoting it or use it on their service. Not thru a debate as it will just result into more questions from people if they will use bitcoin or not.

If the debate is the banking system vs bitcoin, it is still possible to see many people influenced and believe to choose bitcoin over the banking system according to my assumption. However, the debate between gold and bitcoin often makes bitcoin an investment asset with a higher risk than gold. Bitcoin was made the scapegoat because they never believed it. The debate between bitcoin vs gold will not have much effect on the two investment asset. But it is still possible that gold investor will secretly consider trying to make a profit in bitcoin as some media have reported.

no i don't think so.
i think usually people who watch these kinds of debates already have some money in one of these things or two. if they are in gold for example they won't accept the bitcoin part and vice versa.
others who don't have any bitcoin or gold won't watch this or even if they do they won't jump into either one these specially bitcoin since they would hear a lot of FUD about it.
